Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the use of aromatherapies that were given to older adults in South Korea and to provide relevant information about aromatherapy appropriate for health conditions among older adults. Methods: Research Information Sharing Service and National Assembly Library were used for searching with key words including 'aroma', 'aroma therapy', 'herbal', and 'herbal therapy'. Of 581 identified publications, 21 studies were selected based on the inclusion criteria. Results: Most aroma therapies were offered to older adults with arthritis and stroke and the common place for aroma therapy were clients' bed or resting room. Most studies showed several essential oils blended in various proportions by symptoms. Conclusion: The findings of the study suggest that aroma therapy is one of the cost-effective alternative the rapies to manage the health problems of older adults. Therefore, it is recommended that the selection and proportion of essential oils to be used will be provided when using aromatherapy.
