Recently, with the acceleration of technological development and short product life cycles, more companies are required to improve the efficiency of R&D and converge technologies in various fields. For startups that lack resources and their own technologies to survive in a rapidly changing business environment, an open innovation strategy that opens the innovation process and actively utilizes internal and external ideas is particularly important. Therefore, this study analyzed the conditions under which open innovation in Korean startups are promoted.
As a result of empirical analysis, it was found that the company's technology strategy formulation and communication capabilities had positive effects on product innovation capabilities and open innovation. This study suggests that technology strategy and communication, which are important factors in startup innovation, are conditions for strengthening internal innovation capabilities and promoting open innovation, and can suggest policy directions for the government's support for open innovation.
