In order to reduce the harmful effects of environmental issues, fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) have been widely studied as advanced eco-friendly vehicles. This paper studies a new concept of city buses using multiple stack fuel cell (MFC) systems to maximize the efficiency of the entire systems at low load demand. We focus on the more flexible structure of the fuel cells and the newly proposed structure enhances the efficiency of the vehicle. A novel concept is applied to the longitudinal dynamic simulation model and the fuel consumption decrease was clear with test driving cycles.
