부모의 양육행동 유형에 따른 유아의 사회적 유능감 연구 = A Study of Preschoolers’ Social Competence and Parenting Typologies

A wealth of research has demonstrated the importance of preschoolers’ social competence in supporting further social development. The present study examined whether there were differences in preschoolers’ social competence by parenting typologies. The data of 1,515 7 years old preschoolers were included from the 7th Panel Study on Korean Children in 2014. Fathers and mothers completed questionnaires assessing their warmth and control parenting behaviors and preschoolers’ social competence including assertion, cooperation, self-control, and responsibility. Results indicated that parenting typologies of fathers and mothers showed differential contributions to development of young children’s social competence. The present results suggested that examining more closely the parenting typology might offer valuable avenues for future research on early childhood social competence.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인간발달에서 사회성 발달이 차지하는 비중이 높아지면서 유아기 사회적 유능감에 대한 관심도 증가하는 추세이다. 본 연구는 부모의 양육행동 유형에 따른 유아기 자녀의 사회적 유능감을 살펴보는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구대상은 7세 유아를 대상으로 한 한국아동패널 7차 자료 중 부모 모두 초혼인 1,515 가족이다. 부모의 온정적, 통제적 양육행동과 주장성, 협력성, 자기통제, 책임성으로 구성된 사회적 유능감에 대한 자료는 설문지를 이용하여 수집하였고, 수집된 자료는 일원변량분석(ANOVA)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 유아의 사회적 유능감은 어머니와 아버지의 온정･통제 조합 양육행동 유형과 부모의 온정적 양육행동 혹은 통제적 양육행동 조합에 따라 집단 간 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 유아의 사회적 유능감 발달을 위한 다양한 유형의 부모의 양육행동에 대한 후속 연구가 필요하다.
