초등학교 고학년 학생들의 친구관계의 양상과 발달에 관한 조사연구 = A Survey Study on the Characteristics of Friend Relations and Their Development Across Upper Grades in an Elementary School

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 고학년(4-6학년)의 일상적 삶에서 매우 중요한 비중을 차지하는 친구관계가 어떠한 양상을 보이고 있으며 그것이 학년 간에 어떤 변화와 발달을 나타내는가를 알아보고자 하는 것이었다. 연구방법은 질문지를 통한 조사연구로서 조사대상의 표본은 부산광역시의 신도심에 위치한 한 대규모 초등학교의 4, 5, 6학년 전체 학생으로서 표집인원수는 685명이었다. 친구관계의 양상에 대한 측정은 친구의 범위와 수, 이성친구와 이성교제, 친구의 중요도, 친구선택의 기준, 인기있는 친구의 특성, 친구들 간 서열, 친구에 대한 인식과 같은 문항들로 구성되었다. 이러한 문항들에 대한 측정, 분석 결과는 다음과 같았다. 친구의 수를 보면 친한 친구가 없는 경우는 0.7% 정도로 매우 적었고 남학생이 여학생보다 친한 친구가 약간 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 이에 대한 학년 간 차이는 별로 없었으나 6학년 여학생의 경우에 친한 친구의 수가 약간 적어지는 경향이 있었다. 이성친구와 이성교제는 대체로 매우 적고 낮은 수준이지만 5학년 이후에 뚜렷이 더 많아지는 경향이 있었다. 친구 간의 의리나 우정을 학년이나 성별에 관계없이 모두 중요하게 여기는 것으로 나타났다. 친구의 선택 기준, 인기있는 친구의 특성, 친구들 간의 서열 기준에서 나타난 학년 간차이를 보면 대체로 4학년은 5, 6학년에 비해 좀 더 순수한 면을 더 많이 보였으나 5학년이 되면서 좀 더 세속적이고 계산적인 경향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 6학년에서 그 이하 학년에 비해 뚜렷한 변화를 보인 친구관계의 양상으로는 이성교제와 같은 사춘기의 특징, 용모의 중시, 그리고 여학생들에 있어서 온라인 상의 집단따돌림 등이 현저하게 나타난다는 점이다. 요약하면, 초등학교 고학년 간에 친구관계의 양상은 크게 달라지지는않았지만 대체로 5, 6학년이 되면서 친구관계에서 좀 더 세속적이고 계산적인 경향이 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to figure out the characteristics of peer relations and their development across higher grades(4^th-6^th grade) in an large urban elementary school. A questionnaire survey was employed as a device of collecting data from 685 students. The characteristics of peer relations were measured by such a group of items as the number of close friends including opposite-sex friends, the criteria of choosing friends, the characteristics of popular students, the criteria of hierarchy in students, the perception of one`s friend. The major results were as follows. The students who had no close friends were very few(0.7%) and male students had a bit more close friends than female students. Although the percentages of students who had opposite-sex friends and dated with them were very low they grew visible as the grade went up, particularly in the 5^th grade. There was a common tendency of students in the criteria of choosing friends, the characteristics of popular students, and the criteria of hierarchy in students that the 4^th grade students, compared with the 5^th and 6th graders, turned out to be more innocent than the upper graders, while they became more secular and calculative as they went up to the upper grades. Lastly, among the visible differences in the development of peer relations for the 6th graders there were the appearance of adolescent traits(e.g. the increase in the concerns with opposite-sex) and their greater concerns with physical appearance in the peer relations.
