The purpose of this article is to study the relation between Church and State in the social participation of Korean protestant church from 1960 to 1987. Because of the lack of political theology, Korean Protestant church shows the theological differences in the relation between church and state and acts the diverse practices in the social participation. On the one hand, Progressive Group devoted to democratization and human dignity Movements in Korea, On the other hand, Conservative Group devoted to evangelization, asserting the separation between church and state. This opposition between Progressive Group and Conservative Group basically originated from the differences of perspective on the relation between church and state. For that reason, this study is theologically to analyze the relation between church and state in Korean Protestant Church, and then typologically to pattern the relation between church and state in Korean protestant Church. At the same time this study is to inquire into the dimension of diversity in the social participation of Korean protestant Church. In order to obtain these purposes, this study used the historigraphy of ecumenical church history that is seek to `unity in diversity`. So, this study described the specific history of Korean church at the dimension of diversity, and then compared the specific history of Korean church with the universality of World Christian history at the dimension of unity. First of all, this study compared the relation between church and state in the tradition of Korean protestant church with the relation between church and state in the tradition of World Christian history; and also examined the theological relationship between two traditions. Specially, this study compared the relation between church and state in Korean protestant church with the relation between church and state in Reformers of sixteen Century. In contents, the range of this study is focused on democratization and human Dignity Movements under a military Regime in Korea. In other words, this deals with the political participation of korea protestant church in fact; and periodically deals with from 1960 to 1987.
