There were few researches on mathematics education in elementary alternatve schools. I selected five schools and surveyed on those mathematics educations. Finally I extracted four characteristics. First, alternative schools’ mathematics education has tendency to be experience-oriented. Second, in terms of quantity, the content of math education chosen to achieve the goals of their respective alternative schools was smaller than that of public education. Third, it showed efforts to refer to the public education curriculum and the new theory of mathematics education. Fourth, it was focused on figure with the number, calculation, and measurement to be associated with daily life, as well as artistic activities.
