국궁의 전통적 가치에 대한 소고

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 국궁의 변천과 교육적 요소들에 대한 탐구를 통해 국궁의 전통적 가치에 대한 인식을 새롭게 하기 위한 것이다. 이와 같은 연구목적에 따라 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 국궁은 생존의 도구로부터 국가 간 다툼에 있어 원사전쟁무기로써의 유용성과 무과시취에 의한 입신양명의 도구적 수단이었으며, 편전은 조선의 비밀병기로써, 편전에 대한 두려움은 우리민족을 동이라 칭했던 원인이었다. 둘째, 화약(火藥)을 추진체로 한 총포류의 등장에 따라 궁시의 효용성은 반감되었으나, 비축무기류의 점유율에서만은 절대적 우위를 차지하였다. 셋째, 국궁의 전통적 가치는 국궁수련을 통한 민족사관 정립과 바른 행동과 실천을 통한 도덕성 회복을 강조한 국궁의 교육적 요소에 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to promote recognition of traditional value of gukgung, the Korean traditional archery, through exploration of historical transformation and educational elements of gukgung. The research outcomes are as follows after empirical investigation. First, it is found that gukgung was a tool to be used for warfares as a long range weapon and to mobilize social classes through national examination in the past. Pyeonjeon was a secret weapon in the Choseon Dynasty and the Northern states including China were often threatened by the ancient Korean archery calling Korea Dong-ee. Second, although the usefulness of archery was reduced after the appearance of gunpowder in the Korean traditional army, the archery occupied superior position in the weapon for the emergency. Third, the traditional value of gukgung can be found from its educational elements which emphasizes on the restoration of morality through the foundation of the national historical view, and moral behavior and practice training gukgung.
