정보의 시각화 과정을 통한 작품제작 연구 : 모호함과 불안함에 관한 데이터를 중심으로 = The Research on Creating Work through the Process of Data Visualization : Focusing on Data Generated from Ambiguity and Anxiety

국문 초록 (Abstract)

사이버스페이스와 현실세계를 구분할 수 없는 요즘 시대에 빅 데이터
는 한 개인 뿐만 아니라 정치, 경제, 사회 다양한 분야에서 중요한 역할
로 작용하고 있다. 한 개인 스스로도 사이버스페이스 안에서 일정 기준
에 맞추어 자신을 데이터화 시키고 분석한다.
인터넷 속의 데이터들이 본인을 정의해주는 것처럼, 본 연구자도 본
인에게 불안한 심리상태를 조성하는 모호하고, 비물질적인 상태 혹은
관계들을 1차적․2차적 데이터화 과정을 통하여 작품을 제작하였다.
사실에 근거한 정보들 예를 들어 심리검사결과, 본인의 약 복용기록
및 겪는 부작용들의 기록, 식물의 성분 기록들을 1차적으로 수집하고
데이터화시켰다. 1차적으로 데이터화를 진행했던 원인은 주관적이었던
것들이 객관적인 힘을 갖게 되어 불안감을 완화 시켰기 때문이었다. 그
러나 1차적으로는 불안함을 완화시킬지는 몰라도, 한 인간 혹은 감정들
이 데이터화 되어가면서 일정 기준에 의해 소멸되거나, 왜곡되거나, 오
해를 불러일으킬만한 소지가 생긴다고 판단하였다.
그리하여, 본인은 2차적 데이터화를 통하여 본인의 1차적 데이터의
결과물들을 비논리적이며, 과학적이지 않은 본인의 기준에 따라 데이터
를 재생성 해내었다. 약 복용 시간을 음계로 변환시키는 과정, 부작용을
치료하기 위하여 필요한 성분들의 정보들을 섞어 비정형적 이미지를 생
성하는 과정, 필요성분을 함유하고 있는 식물들을 모아 상상의 약초들
을 만드는 과정이 2차적 데이터 생성의 예이다. 즉, 본인이 정해놓은 일
정기준을 통하여 생성된 2차적 부산물들이 시각화 및 청각화 되는 과정
(비과학적, 비논리적 과정)을 통하여 데이터화 되어지는 인간의 모습의
허구성을 작품을 통하여 대변하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

These days where cyber space and the real world are not distinguishable, big data plays an important role in the lives of individuals and various fields from politics and the economy to society. Individuals also make into data and analyze themselves in cyberspace according to certain criteria.
As online data defines me, I created work through the primary and secondary process of datafying (making into data) ambiguous and immaterial relationships and statuses that cause my anxiety.
Using information based on the facts as examples, I primarily collected and datafied the result of psychological examinations, the records of taking medication and its side effects, and the records of the substances of the herbs. The reason I primarily conducted the process of making into data is that subjective things obtained the objective power, soothing anxiety. They might soothe anxiety at first, however, as a human being or emotions are converted into data, they become subject to being extinguished, distorted or misunderstood, according to certain criteria.
Therefore, I recreated the results of the first datafication according to my own illogical and unscientific criteria through the second datafication. The examples of the second datafication are the process of converting the time to take the medicine into music scales, by creating asymmetrical images by mixing information on the substances needed for curing side effects, and by creating imaginary herbs by collecting the plants that contained the required substances. In other words, through certain criteria I set up, I studied the falsehood of the humans being put into data by means of the process in which the by-products of the primary datafication are visualized and auralized (unscientific and illogical).
