This paper proposes a novel model of multimodal biometric authentication server.
We propose homogeneous multimodal system, different from conventional multimodal system, in which vein pattern recognition is collaboratively used with fingerprint recognition to improve the usability of biometric authentication. As for biometric identification server, proxy (cache) server is introduced to minimize the authentication delay by reducing the time of database search and template access. Also, a new biometric service protocol is formulated to support application program interface for biometric service provider.
