ESG 경영 강화 수단으로서 디자인의 잠재성 고찰 = The Potential of Design for Strengthening ESG Management: With the Focus on ‘E’ and ‘S’ in ESG

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 ESG에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 기업들은 ESG 경영을 강화하기 위한 투자와 노력을 확대하고 있다. 본 연구는 ESG 경영을 강화하기 위한 실천) 방법론으로서 디자인 분야의 활용 가능성과 이점을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구로 ESG와 디자인과의 연관성을 이론적으로 고찰하고, 사례연구로 ESG 실천을 위한 디자인 활용 사례를 조사·분석하였다. 연구결과, 디자인과 ESG 경영은 공통적으로 환경(E)과 사회(S)를 핵심 요소로 삼고 있으며, 지속가능성과 사회적 가치 추구라는 목적을 달성하기 위해 환경적·사회적 영향을 고려하거나 환경적·사회적 책임을 구현하는 방식으로작동하고 있음을 밝혔다. 이는 디자인이 ESG 경영을 강화할 수 있는 강력한 실천 수단이며, 기업이 환경과 사회문제해결을 통해 사회에 기여하는 데 새로운 관점과 접근 방식을 제공할 수 있다는 점을 보여준다. 특히, 지속가능디자인과사회문제해결디자인은 ESG의 환경(E)과 사회(S) 분야의 확실한 실천 방법으로 실질적인 성과 창출을 기대할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In recent years, as interest in ESG has increased, companies have been expanding their investments and efforts to strengthen their ESG management. This study aimed to explore the possibilities and benefits of utilizing the design field as a practice methodology to strengthen ESG management. To this end, this study theoretically examined the connection between ESG and design through a literature review and also investigated and analyzed the use of design for ESG practices through a case study. The results showed that design and ESG management have common core elements of environment (E) and society (S), and they work in a way that considers environmental and social impacts or implements environmental and social responsibility to achieve the purpose of pursuing sustainability and social value. This study showed that design is a powerful practice that can enhance ESG management and provide new perspectives and approaches for companies to contribute to society through environmental and social problem solving. In particular, sustainable design and social problem-solving design are clear practices in the environmental (E) and social (S) dimensions of ESG that can be expected to produce tangible results.
