인류의 진화와 포스트휴머니즘 담론에 대한 논고 - 트랜스휴머니즘과 순자의 인간관을 중심으로 - = A Study on Human Evolution and Posthumanistic Discourse - Focusing on Transhumanism and Xunzi's View of Humanity -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Homo sapience is currently facing a great turning point in which it transforms into a new species through artificial evolution. Finally, biotechnology succeeded in creating artificial life as well as manipulating genes. Transhumanists are now leaning on biotechnology to overcome human limitations and try to transform them into new species. Xunzi's idea of overcoming human nature and transforming into a new being through artificial efforts is in some ways in line with transhumanism. However, in Xunzi's thought, human limitations and the process of overcoming them are completely different from transhumanism. At a time when the development of life science and human desire meet to create an unpredictable future, Xunzi's thought will be a compass that teaches us where to go.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인류는 현재 인위적인 진화를 통해 새로운 종으로 변화해가는 대전환기를 맞이하고 있다. 마침내 생명공학은 유전자를 조작하는 것뿐만 아니라 인공생명체를 탄생시키는데 성공하였다. 휴머니즘의 한계를 넘어 포스트휴머니즘으로 가는 지금, 트랜스휴머니스트들은 과학기술에 기대어 인간의 한계를 극복하고 새로운 종으로의 변화를 시도하고 있다. 인위적인 노력을 통해 인간의 악한 본성을 극복하고 새로운 존재로 변화해 나가야 한다는 순자의 사상은 어떤 면에서는 트랜스휴머니즘과 결을 같이 한다. 그러나 진정한 인간의 한계가 무엇인지와 그것을 극복해가는 과정은 다르게 제시된다. 과학기술의 발전과 인간의 욕망이 만나 예측하지 못할 미래를 만들어가는 시점에서, 순자의 사상은 인류가 나아갈 방향을 가르쳐주는 나침반이 되어 줄 것이다.
