    We have dealt with several movement transformations such as passive, complex-NP shift, reflexivization, and particle shift, which are related with dative shift. The problems resulting from the above transformations can not be explained satisfactorily only within syntactic aspects, to which Freezing Principle, Cross-Over Principle, Relation Annihilation Law, and Thematic Hierarchy Condition belong.
    On the other hand, the Clitic Hypothesis using phonological units and Topicality and Dominance Principle considering discourse contexts can solve the problems more effectively and naturally.
    Thus, when considering the problems related with dative shift, we had better take into consideration all the grammatical components rather than be restricted in one or two particular components.
