Object-chanting poetry is one of the major genres in China. Its formation and development took more than a thousand years and reached its peak in the Tang Dynasty. The late Tang Dynasty played a role in connecting the past and the future in the history of object-chanting poetry, because it was not only the last glory of Tang Dynasty poetry, but also had a great influence on later generations, especially in the Northern Song Dynasty. Therefore, the author makes a brief analysis of the characteristics of object-chanting poetry in the late Tang Dynasty from the perspective of poetic history. From a macro point of view, there are four characteristics. The first feature is that object-chanting poetry in the late Tang Dynasty chanted all kinds of objects, which opened up the subject matter of object-chanting poetry, and also provided a model that can be used for reference for the daily use of materials in the Northern Song Dynasty. The second feature is that the singing images are mostly sad and weak things, which are imitated by Xikun style poets; This point has an influence on the poets of the Northern Song Dynasty. The third feature is the flourishing of works on poetic style theory, which has a guiding role in the creation of poetry about objects, and it had an impact on poets in the Northern Song Dynasty. The fourth feature is that there is a tendency to return to Qi Liang's object-chanting poetry, which was also followed by the Xikun style poets. From the microscopic point of view, the author selects two writers who played an important role in the evolution of object-chanting poetry——Li Shangyin and Luo Yin—as representatives, and specifically analyzes the feature of their object-chanting poetry.
