The purpose of this study is to introduce the system of the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) in Korea, especially in the portion of mathematics to foreign countries. The mathematics portion of CSAT is to measure how students understand mathematical concepts and principles acquired throughout their school years and in what ways they apply them to solve a problem. The test intends to measure mathematical thinking ability by problems of changing a given situation to mathematical representation, that of understanding and interpreting mathematical representation, and that of dealing with multiple subjects. According to the objectives of assessment, it is classified by a content and a behavior area. Whereas the content area is subdivided by the units of corresponding subjects, the behavior area is subdivided by computation, understanding, reasoning, and problem solving. For each behavior area, the characteristics and examples are given and some problems of this test are discussed.
