The laboratory quench method used in this study is based on plunging a silver cylinder heated to 800±1℃ into mineral base oils at given temperature. Experimental apparatus and measuring method followed the Korean Industrial Standard.
Cooling curves at the boundary of the shape of cylinderical type measured by a silver-alumel thermocouple is recorded throughout the quenching period. Using the cooling curves, the collingability of the quenching oils at a various temperrature were compared and discussed.
