뇌교육이 내포하는 세 가지 교육영역의 특징과 의미 = The Characteristics and Meanings of Three Related Educational Fields Involved in Brain Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글의 주된 목적은 최근에 등장한 뇌교육의 특징과 의미를 기존의 뇌와 교육을 연계하는 교육이론과 교육실천의 흐름과 관련시켜 파악하고, 이를 토대로 뇌교육이 새로운 교과로서 성립할 수 있는 가능성을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 ``뇌지식교육``, ``뇌체험교육`` 그리고 ``뇌기반교육``으로 명명한 기존의 세 가지 교육영역이 "뇌의 운영"을 목표로 하는 뇌교육 안에 모두 포함되는 것으로 보고, 각 교육영역의 장단점과 상호관계를 검토하였다. 그 과정에서 뇌교육은 뇌 자체를 학습소재로 삼아 지식과 체험을 향상하고 이를 위해 뇌의 학습적 속성과 기제에 적합한 방식으로 교수-학습을 실시하는 새로운 교과로서 성립할 수 있다는 점을 밝혔다. 앞으로 뇌교육은 교육의 주체이자 목적인 인간의 이해와 관련하여 모든 교과의 기초가 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The main aim of this paper is to understand the characteristics and meanings of brain education in connection with existing educational theories and practices based on the knowledge of the human brain, and lastly to clarify the possibility of brain education as a new academic subject. To do this, I organized the existing brain educational theories and practices into three fields ``brain-knowledge education,`` ``brain-experience education`` and ``brain-based education``. The goal of brain education is a "brain operating system" that presupposes all three fields. In order to distinguish the characteristics and significance of brain education, I examined the strengths and weaknesses of each field, and also the interrelationship of these three fields. As a result of this study, I found that brain education can be a new educational subject that aims to improve the knowledge and experiences in the brain itself. It also makes the teaching-learning processes compatible to human brain`s natural way of learning. As the goal, and indeed the core, of all educational practices is a deeper understanding of humanity, brain education has the potential to become the basis of all educational subjects in the very near future because it deepens our knowledge of how the brain is the essential agent in all learning.
