국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 최근 한국사회에서 주요한 정치행위자로 활동하고 있는 비정부 조직(Non-Governmental Organizations: NGO)에서 활동하고 있는 여성 활동가들의 리더십에 대하여 연구하였다. 최근 한국사회에서 여성의 정치참여가 증대되고 있다. 특히 지난 해 실시된 17대 총선에서 여성의원들이 대거 당선되어 여성의 정치 진출이 활발하게 전개되고 있는데, 이틀 대부분은 직접 또는 간접으로 시민사회운동에 참여한 여성리더들이다.
여성리더들의 활동 현황을 효율성과 결정요인을 중심으로 분석한 본 논문은 한국NGO들의 개념과 성장 배경을 문헌연구를 통하여 살펴본 흐름, 특히 최근 여성리더들의 NGO 활동을 주요 시민사회단체에 대한 설문조사를 통하여 연구하였다. 본 연구의 분석은 경실련, 참여연대 등에서 활동하는 여성 활동가를 포함한 시민활동가를 리더심의 효율성과 결정요인의 관점에서 행한 설문조사 내용을 인구학적 통계를 통한 회귀분석을 하였다.
본 연구 결과에 의하면, 여성 리더들의 심리적 특성, 리더십 상황 변인에서 NGO는 공기업, 정부기관들보다는 성 차별 문화가 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성 차별적인 조직문화가 NGO 상근운동가들의 활동에 장애가 되는 요소임은 분명하지만, 공기업, 정부기관의 근무자들보다 NGO의 상근자들이 이러한 성 차별문화를 상대적으로 적게 인식하고 있는 것으로 분석되어, NGO가 한국의 다른 조직체보다는 여성리더십의 발휘기회가 더욱 높을 것으로 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The paper is to analyze a leadership of female activists of non-governmental organizations in Korea. In Korean society, the power and role of female leaders are more increased. In particular, many female activists of Korean NGOs were elected as a law makers in 2004 17th General Election.
As one of political actors, the Korean NGOs are to be increased their influence in political areas as well as in other social areas. Compared those of other areas such as schools and public sectors, we assume that female leaders have more comfortable working conditions in civil society organizations.
The paper is basically to analyze the decisive factors and efficiency of female activists by the questionnaire on the Korean NGOs such as Citizens' Coalition of Economic Justice, People's Solidarity of People's Democracy. The survey data is to be analyzed by regression through the demographic statistics. In the analysis of survey data, we would find that the gender inequality on female leaders would be decreased, those of other areas.
