This article is aims to clarify the meaning of ‘fog’ in the work of Ki Hyeong-do, in relation to the change of the early 1990’s, which was characteristic of the transitional period. Ki Hyeong-do claimed to prove conflict and conflict between dream life and art and reality is quantum link between them. Ki Hyeong-do reveals critical perception using metonymy. Typically, his poem 「The fog(안개)」 shows a cynicism about the self-deceitful maneuver of the modern man living unconsciously in an absurd life. On the other hand through the analysis of other his works, we could see that he discovered that the dual meaning of the ‘fog’. In this paper, by comparing Kim Seung-ok's 「Record of a Journey to Mujin(무진기행)」, which has adopted the “fog” image, he finds a breakthrough that can escape the disillusionment of Art by rediscovering the meaning of “Fantasy”. Ki Hyeong-do does not just allegorize the reality with his sociological gaze, but also tried to present the prospect of uncertain reality by saving ‘the popular’ through art.
