Purpose of this research is to investigate the interest of the mothers with children of babyhood by using the process of surveying. The procedure was executed with 7 mothers of children, divided into two groups, followed by group and individual interviews. The research covers from period of child birth until today, and it aims at further studying the interest of the mothers in health, playing, education, educational support of the babies, including the expectations they develop in the child caring enterprise.
The research undertook the specific method of following:
First, mothers in the first infancy period, seem to be concentrated in creatively providing their child with safe food, and develop the right sleeping habit, as well as some emergency procedures for various potential health problems.
This infancy period is when the children develop their physique and brain activity, therefore mother’s awareness and interest is solely about health above all.
Thus mothers care mostly about eating and sleeping which has direct impact on growth. Mothers include in their agenda, breast feeding, baby food, and nutritional supplements. It is common for the mothers to collect many health data for a better outcome, for the greatest difficulty in child growth lies on the health, seeing any sort of illness on the child is the most unbearable for the mothers, it is especially upsetting to see them bear the pain without the ability to express it. Mothers at this stage are not greatly competent in taking the necessary action, which makes them run to the emergency room even in a slight fever. Further, they concern whether the child can take in the prescribed medication without harm.
Secondly, this stage is when mothers are unaware which education or playing is right for their child. Meetings with other mothers give a chance for information exchange and ones who attend go with expectation to gain anything they might have missed.
For a mother to spend majority of the day with their child, they are in need of a way to play with one another, as well as knowledge on how this should be done properly.
So mothers share their methods online and visit each other and shop for appropriate toys. However this still isn’t enough for mothers to do something with their child the entire day, so they choose to be with mothers for exchange of information and get programs plus books for adequate home schooling. In such programs they are given a chance to be in a community that they can learn and share difficulties of child care.
Mothers with child of infancy period worry that their children will not have sufficient motivation for growth which might result in falling behind others. Especially mothers worry their child might not show linguistic competency at around 18 months which an average time for a healthy child to start showing speaking ability.
As a result, mothers try hard to use numerous books with a wide spectrum of colors as much as possible and these books, being equipped for educational purposes, consists of devices that awaken the five senses.
Moreover great home schooling teachers visit 20minutes a week to supplement the child with additional classes to make up for what which mothers cannot do for the child.
However these teachers and programs are not easy to afford, but people admit that they do not have many other choices.
Thirdly, more than anything, the expected supports from the working husbands are not being well fulfilled, and today’s nuclear family structure does not allow easy access of helping hands as needed. After giving birth, mothers struggle with the multiplied amount of house work and later suffer depression. Husband who do their job as a father after work give their wives a chance to gain help in their child rearing process but mothers with least support are under deeper stress than ever. Today, it is an inevitable fact that mothers have a great amount of things to do without the psychological and physical help from their spouses who are busy doing outside work.
Fourthly mothers going through this stage reflect back on how they were educated in the past with their own parents. With this as the basis, mothers design their ways of child care and discard what was negative and perform what was positive.
In a short space of time, during experiences the rearing of children, mothers investigate about expect of rear of children and what do they will expect for children in future.
