We report theoretical and experimental analyses on the pulse performance of an acousto-optically
(AO) Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd : YAG laser with a linear resonator. For the
properly designed linear resonator, a frequency-doubled laser beam with a short pulse width of 40
ns and an output power of 73 W is generated at a pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz and an input
pump power of 476 W. The linear resonator is analyzed theoretically based on rate equations and is
compared with the experimentally obtained frequency-doubled laser output power and pulse width.
