스웨덴 이주자 문학의 상호 교차성 연구: 요나스 하센 케미리(Jonas Hassen Khemiri)의 『몬테코어』를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 기존의 스웨덴 문학에서 흔히 볼 수 없었던 테마와 새로운 서사기법으로 스웨덴 문학의 다양화에 기여하고 있는 스웨덴 이주자 문학에 대해서 고찰한다. 스웨덴 문학계는 스웨덴 이주자 문학에 대해 주류문학의 잣대로 이주 작가들을 과소평가하거나 작품분석에 있어서도 쉽게 오류를 범하곤 한다. 이러한 이유는 주류문학과 주류 지배집단의 관점에 빠져 이주자 문학을 단층적인 관점에서 바라보는 오류를 범하기 때문이다.
최근 이주자 문학이 스웨덴 사회의 높은 관심을 끌고 있으며, 제도권의 주류 문학에 입성했음에도 불구하고 이러한 현상이 나타난다는 것은 진정한 타자성의 이해와 인식이라고 보기 힘들다. 스웨덴 이주자 문학의 위상과 역할에 대한 연구의 이러한 한계를 인식하고, 본 논문은 최근 세계적으로 명성을 얻기 시작한 스웨덴의 대표적인 신예 작가 요나스 하센 케미리의 두 번째 장편소설인 『몬테코어』를 중심으로 스웨덴의 이주자 문학을 살펴본다. 『몬테코어』는 케미리의 가족사에 대한 사적인 이야기이면서 동시에 스웨덴 이주자들의 정착 과정을 보여 주는 매우 중요한 작품이라고 할 수 있다. 케미리의 소설 『몬테코어』는 이민자로서의 혼란스러운 정체성과 거친 감수성을 놀라운 서술 형식으로 그려 내고 있다. 특히 작품 속 케미리와 아버지의 갈등은 스웨덴 주류 사회와 이민자 사회 간의 긴장 및 충돌과 이중주를 이루며 케미리만의 독특한 개성을 보여준다. 본 연구는 이주자 문학이 가지는 유용성만을 고려하는 주류 문학의 시각에서 벗어나 주류문화와 이주자 문화, 두 문화 속에 견고하게 자리 잡은 경계를 살펴봄으로써 스웨덴 이주자 문학에 담겨있는 진정한 차이를 보여주고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of the Swedish migrant literature, which contributes to the diversification of the Swedish literature in several ways. Still, dominant literary circle in Sweden tends to underestimate the value of the Swedish migrant literature and it is easy to make a mistake in its literary analysis. Migrant literature often focuses on the social contexts in the migrants' country of origin which prompt them to leave, on the experience of migration itself, on the mixed reception which they may receive in the country of arrival, on experiences of racism and hostility, and on the sense of rootlessness and the search for identity which can result from displacement and cultural diversity.
By studying the literary criticism on Jonas Hassen Khemiri and his novel, Montecore, I have come to the conclusion that the critics tend to focus on the authors' otherness. By using intersectionality theory I've analysed the role as representatives of the other reality that is applied on Khemiri by the literary critics. The theory of intersectionality have been used to contextualize these conclusions.
