      The purpose of this study is to give fundamental data for the planning on common facilities of apartments. Common facilities are consisted of green area, service facilities, children's activity space, social sports facilities, welfare facilities and leisure facilities. The apartment complexes in Cheongju city with well-designed common spaces were selected for this study, and we examined their composition of common facilities and the residents' satisfaction. 90 residents of 3 apartment complexes, which were built in last 3 years and have more than 500 households, answered the questionnaire. The result were as follows.
      1) The diversity of common spaces is not sufficient, and the planning of common spaces is focused only on green spaces. 2) The pond, artificial fall, and artificial spring got high score in the use and satisfaction level, showing good planning of outer spaces.
      As a conclusion, inner common space planning as well as outer common space planning is very important for high quality residential environment, and operation system of these space has to be considerately designed.
