Recently, various forms of irreversible challenges, such as global warming and COVID-19, that have been difficult to control have emerged, and the results have become difficult to predict. To solve these problems, students need civic competencies with a scientific understanding of science- and technology-related issues and transformational capabilities geared toward the future to seek and practice direct solutions. Extreme citizen science education can enhance citizens' future capabilities by helping them explore science and technology-related topics directly related to real life, seek solutions, and participate in the problem-solving processes through individual politicized actions. Therefore, this study focused on an extreme citizen science education program. This study organized an extreme citizen science education class program using digital technology, focusing on the possibility that rapidly introduced digital technology can contribute to promoting extreme citizen science activities. In other words, digital technology was used in class programs because it made obtaining data for extreme citizen science activities related to the atmospheric environment easy and fulfilled the need for a technical platform that acquired, integrated, and converted data. Extreme citizen science education programs which are using digital technology consist of human and non-human actor networks. For example, technology is a non-human actor that enables and facilitates extreme citizen science activities while facilitating data collection, transformation, and communication functions. In this way, due to the nature of a program that consists of networks between various humans and non-humans, it is necessary to include both humans and non-humans actors as objects of analysis to analyze the execution process in depth. Therefore, this study aimed to understand teaching and learning phenomena in a new and comprehensive way by focusing on Actor-Network Theory (ANT), which looks at behavior through human and non-human actor networks. This study aimed to obtain implications for extreme citizen science education by analyzing the process of preparing and implementing extended extreme citizen education using digital technology from an ANT perspective. There were two specific research questions: What is the network construction process that appears when implementing an extreme citizen science education program using digital technology in elementary schools? What are the network and the process of change that occurred as a result of the group activities of this program? Participants in the study were one homeroom teacher and 21 students in the fifth grade of H Elementary School in Seoul. The program was developed by the researcher that was revised and supplemented for the level of elementary school students through discussions with assistant teachers and teachers. It consisted of 24 sessions in three step : Step 1 (understanding digital technology), Step 2 (scientific inquiry activities), and Step 3 (social action). The digital technology used in the class consisted of hardware and software involving devices that collected data about atmospheric environments and converted the collected data into numbers and graphs. Data from in-depth interviews with participants, the teacher's reflection journal, and the participation observation journal were collected and were analyzed by the Callon’s (1986) four stages of translation to described the trajectory of the network. And the collected data was analyzed and described as the process of folding and unfolding networks between actors over time for each program steps. After that, the data were analyzed using a continuous comparative analysis method. The results of the study are as follows. First, in the process of preparing and implementing an extreme citizen science education program using digital technology, the characteristics of the network construction process were examined. In the problematization stage, the behavior of disturbing the existing education network, which began with the researcher, led to the teacher's interest, and the teacher continued and expanded by raising the problem to students on behalf of the researcher. However, more and more actors failed to pass the initial OPP(Obligatory Passage Point) set at the stage of raising the issue, causing the overall alliance to falter, resulting in cases of betrayal, which led to a change of the OPP. After that, the main actors began to try again to form alliances to achieve their respective interests while making the changed OPP mandatory. At the attention-grabbing stage, the researcher used various strategies and devices to continue to cause interest of teachers and students, and the teacher also discussed various strategic devices with the researcher and used various strategic devices to arouse students' interest. Non-human actors caused students' interest without intention. However, each actor had various positions and expected benefit, increasing the complexity of network construction and making it difficult to recruit. Due to these differences, there were various cases, such as successful registration, betrayal, and complex cases. After that, the stage of registration occurred briefly through the proposed articles and posters, but it ended without receiving a proper answer due to reasons such as the closing ceremony. Second, during the process of implementing the extreme citizen science education program using digital technology, the network and change processes formed in small-group activities were examined. Students were able to confirm that new non-human and human actors entered the educational field and changed the existing network formation method, which had been fixed as a problem-solving strategy. The learning strategies used were different for each student, and the network was stabilized, including various human and non-human actors. In addition, the results showed that even if the non-humanization of digital technology and student actor fails to make black box, a discourse can be formed through the inscription. Learning was more active in the group where members interacted organically with each other in their network than in the group where members have the limited role. The expressed behavior was different depending on which actor was connected to the non-human actor such as digital technology and the inscription. Unpredictable situations that occurred by broken black box greatly influenced learning. This process indicated that non-human actors were beings with agency large enough to disturb the teaching and learning network. In addition, results of learning activities appeared not to be due to the capabilities or abilities of the human actors, but to be due to various complex network processes. Connections by human actors unintentionally made the expansion of learning networks fail. In terms of social behavior, adult actors needed to intervene to actively relate to inscription-student-actors outside of school. These research results have the following educational implications. First, to help with learning, it is necessary to use various methods to have multiple human and non-human actors. In addition, in order to develop meta recognizing ability of how to appropriately involve them according to their needs, we should help students to directly or indirectly experience to involve various actors. Second, in order for non-human actors to exhibit appropriate behavior in the educational field, support must be provided in consideration of various factors surrounding non-human actors. To this end, it is necessary to dismantle the black boxed non-human actor before introducing it into the teaching and learning situation. Through this process, it will be possible to appropriately adjust the stage of meeting the actors who make up the non-human so that it is appropriate to the level of the students. Third, the design of teaching and learning should consider that knowledge is acquired and that learning occurs in the process of constructing networks with both non-humans and humans. In the process of examining the causes of learning outcomes, finding that human and related non-human actors are intertwined in multiple ways can allow new perspectives on teaching and learning problems that have not been solved. Fourth, education and learning also need to be understood as a result of human/non-human interaction. This is important because it can suggest looking at teaching and learning from a new perspective that breaks away from the humanistic perspective in educational research. This study shows through case studies that learning involves a network composition that goes beyond the existing teaching and learning perspective, suggesting possibilities for how to prepare classes from a network perspective and how to help learning. The aim is for educational discussions to be continued from a new perspective by providing an opportunity to reconsider the roles and positions of non-humans that have heretofore been overlooked. In addition, this research aims to support the effective application of extreme citizen science education programs in the future by expanding understanding of the process of preparing and applying expanded extreme citizen science education using digital technology.
With the development of digital technology, the utilization of technology has been increased in the field of education. Nevertheless, it is unclear what teachers’ role should be with this change. Current role of teacher as a transmitter of knowledge can not help being reduced as long as citizenship in information society means rational decision-making skills or self-directed learning ability with information. However, the role of teacher can be emphasized more than ever in that we require an elaborate teaching action for the self-directed learning. Thus, the introduction of technology into social studies classes causes a debate about the change of teachers’ role. Nevertheless, it is rare for studies to inquire how teachers make decisions on the use of technology. Recently there have been claims that teacher variable is worth noting, but these studies do not examine thoroughly what educational decisions are made by teachers on the integration of technology with classroom activities. Therefore, this research attempts to investigate teacher action with digital textbook in the social studies classes to understand what teachers’ role should be after the emergence of educational media related to digital technology Main research question for this purpose is that “How does the teacher’s teaching action appear in the social studies with digital textbook?” In this context, specific questions were suggested as follows. First, how do the formal aspects of teaching action (i.e. instructional forms) appear? Second, how do the content aspects of teaching action appear? In other words, how is the subject matter taught? Third, how is the teacher’s role understood through teacher’s teaching action shown in the formal/ content aspects? To answer these questions, the current research conducts qualitative case study, adopting microethnography, on 6th-grade social studies class at ‘G’ elementary school. In a microethnography of classroom lessons, structure of a lesson, turn-taking allocation machinery, and social participation structure(SPS) were found as a pattern of interaction between a teacher and students. Considering these findings, the present research prepared suitable analytical lens to figure out instructional forms. Besides, to analyze the contents taught by a teacher, this research used analytical lens such as the transformation of learning topic and the types of learning activities. As a result of this analysis, followings have appeared as key findings. First, ‘order-maintaining strategy’ through contextualization cues and turn allocation machinery was prominent. This strategy was adopted so as to overcome the disturbing factors arose from digital textbook. The teacher frequently used spatial contextualization cues as well as verbal contextualization cues related to Tablet PC control. Depending on teacher’s use of contextualization cues, participation structure kept changed between student-centered and teacher-centered. Also, for the seamless flow of class, the teacher used highly formal turn-allocation machinery. Based on contextualization cues and turn-allocation machinery, 7 types of technology-based social participation structure(T-SPS) were identified. Second, in terms of transformation of learning topic which is one of the content aspects of teaching action, the teacher chose learning topic based on illustrations or multimedia materials instead of text. This results from the teacher’s necessity to add academic tasks to promote students’ participation or activities with digital textbook, as well as the teacher’s interpretation of social studies curriculum and his view of education. Next, learning topics were presented in the way of ‘student activity-teacher summary sets’. Under this way, students’ activities preceeded the teacher’s explanation, and teacher-centered way of presentation was hard to find. Based on these results of the analysis, this research interprets teaching action utilizing digital textbook in the social studies classes as follows. The teacher recognized the need for a change in teaching method with the emergence of digital textbook. The order-maintaining strategy of instructional forms stood out to overcome the disturbing factors to instruction arose from digital textbook, compared to the traditional classroom lesson. Besides, the teacher developed the lesson emphasizing students’ learning activities due to new chance brought by digital textbook. Therefore, nonlinear development among various subject matters was shown more often than linear development to accomplish learning goals. When the teacher led the lesson nonsequentially with students-centered activities, he played a role of learning facilitator, not a knowledge transmitter. However, this change in the teacher’s role does not mean that the initiative is transferred from the teacher to students, and the teacher actively interprets and decides the selection of contents and the organization of learning activities with the authority. The current study refers to the idea of teacher’s leading role as "managerial grazier(shepherd)". Compared to the existing instruction using traditional textbook, "managerial grazing" means teaching action that students’ activities are strengthened and the contents are expanded out of classroom, while teaching actions for maintaining-order is tightened. However, even when students’ learning activities is strengthened, the initiative of class is on the teacher’s hand. This is because the teacher actively interprets potentiality of digital textbook for learning and strengthens students’ activities to promote participation in the social studies class for realizing the potential. As seen above, in the social studies class with new technology, the teacher still has a power to decide the process of instruction, so the leading role of teachers is still valid. So far, studies have implied passive role of teachers and have described teachers as rejecting the utilization of new technology with conservative attitude. However, the teacher confronted by a sudden introduction of new technology in this study practiced teaching action reflecting his consideration for the students’ self-directed learning. The teacher as a "managerial grazier(shepherd)" did not accept technology passively but appreciated the potentiality of a given technology and actively led the instruction. This study can have contribution to the discussion on teachers’ role or identity in the class full of technology. Further this study may play an important role in establishing an exemplary teacher model not being overwhelmed by technology. In this study, teacher’s identity as a key agent of educational activity, who can decide actively and spontaneously, is confirmed by finding out the leading role of teacher in the technology-integrated class. From this, it can be said that teacher professionalism does not exist in the management and transmission of subject matters merely, but in the complex and holistic decision on technology, content, and pedagogy. Therefore, now it is time to get away from the dispute over the need for teachers’ role. If a teacher is active decision-maker in the use of technology, the debate over teachers’ role should be about how teachers’ identity and professionalism will be set in the future class. The present research, from this point of view, has significant implication that it provides a place for discussion to establish teachers’ identity and professionalism required in the information society.

To understand the signification of the digital sign accurately, it is necessary to consider not only the surface layer of the produced sign but also the production system of the sign, and the condition of communication as the whole. Nowadays, hegemonic media that production and communication of signs, shifts from analog to digital. In this context, this thesis tried to find a way to analyze the signification of the digital sign in a way that responds to today’s conditions through a media philosophical point of view. This study is organized as follows: Chapter 2 examines the issues of media, human consciousness, and semiotics in general, focusing on the concept of ‘technological grammatization’. Chapter 3 examines the conditions of digital semiotics by examining the technological characteristics of the digital sign, communication systems, and the principle and attribute of sign production. Subsequently, Chapter 4 devises the applicable model to the digital semiotics and summarizes the expected practical importance and risks. This study can be summarized as follows. First, the sign has a function that writing and remembering human consciousness above all. The ‘letter,’ the oldest media and sign of humankind, sparked a debate on memory. It is the “pharmakon” debate. Pharmakon is a term that has the meanings of ‘remedy’ and ‘poison’. Letters have the advantage of being able to store memories outside of consciousness(remedy); at the same time, they also have the disadvantage of impairing internal abilities on recollection or remembrance(poison). As such, the media is a pharmakon, an apparatus that can supplementary record the human memory-consciousness through signs, and at the same time, it has the effect of reconstructing the form of consciousness. After the invention of the letter, technologies of human memories begin to shift slowly from “anamnesis” to “hypomnesis”. After the letter, humans established memory-consciousness through the grammatization technology that Bernard Stiegler called “orthothèse”, which selects letters that correspond to the exact orthographical rules in their mind(orthotès), and which can be thesis(thèsis). Until this era, the writing and interpretation of memory-consciousness have entirely belonged to humans. However, after the invention of analog media, the problem of ‘spatialization of the writing’ began to arise. From this point, the writing of memory-consciousness has become a work that can be performed not only by humans but also outside humans, that is, machines. Analog media also has its own writing system. Technological grammatization is a concept that refers to the writing system of the sign after such analog media. The representative analog media, photograph, phonograph, and cinématographe, correspond to the graphs(letters) of photo, phono, and cinéma based on their peculiar writing system. After analog technologies, the media writes memory-consciousness through orthothèse characterizing in its way. As follow to the proposition that “media is pharmakon,” technological gramma also resulted in the reorganization of human consciousness. More specifically, human consciousness is established by synthesizing and perceiving stimulus information applied from inside and outside. At this time, technological grammatization produces a new consciousness by functioning as a writing system that synthesizes and organizes the stimuli of lights(photograph), sounds(phonograph), and moving-images(cinématographe). Besides, technological gramma, by its very nature, involves much more amount and various sensory stimuli than traditional characters. As a result, humans receive information faster and more than before, and also, the cycle of storing information in consciousness becomes shorter and shorter. In other words, the way of memory-consciousness processing has been reorganized. On the other hand, this transformation in the information processing method is closely related to the dimension of unconsciousness. According to Freud, das Es, the domain of unconsciousness and impulse, has a deep relationship with das Über-Ich, agency of rules and bans, and das Ich is produced in the dynamics of such Das Es and Über-Ich. In other words, the information processing method that rapidly processes large amounts of information into the realm of oblivion and unconsciousness caused by technological gramma also exerts influence on determining the content and form of production of consciousness and desire(unconsciousness) production. In ‘critical theory’, the outcomes written with technological gramma such as a photograph, phonograph, and cinematograph, were regarded as the product of the ‘culture industry’, and they are criticized manipulating the masses’ consciousness and desires. It can be said to be an effect due to the attributes of technological gramma. At this point, the key is that memory-consciousness is written in the external apparatus of humans, causing consciousness and desire. Therefore, understanding the sign is does not mean merely interpreting the sign as reflecting and expressing the contents of human consciousness. On the contrary, since the way of production and writing of the sign can build the content and form of consciousness, we must pay attention to the principle of technologies to write it. However, at this stage, interpretation still belongs to the human realm, and on the condition of writing-memory changed by technological grammatization, the field of knowledge and analysis undergoes a developmental transformation. For a representative example, semiotics and psychoanalysis, which brought about a substantial intellectual transformation in the 20th century, correlate with the appearance of phonographs. Semiotics and psychoanalysis could have been possible through the phonograph that recorded all the utterances of sound itself: so that made it easy to grasp elements that are difficult to seize in the traditional letter-writing system(such as phonemes, morphemes, unconscious utterances, etc.). Due to two characteristics of the technological gramma―which has an own grammatization process, and performs the memorization as orthothèse outside the human consciousness―made it possible to observe with the meta point of view the process such as memorization and signification that had been performed only within human consciousness. Since then, semiotics has developed into a study that analyzes the sign written in technological gramma based on linguistic methodology. Currently, technological gramma is written and transmitted on digital systems. Digital technology is based on the computability (or algorithmization) of all data, and the principle of handling information in quantity. Meanwhile, digital media can convergence and process multi-dimensional information in one machine, and then can perform not only writing but also some of the interpretations and judgments that were belonged to only human. In this way, the writing-memory, for the first time, has the possibility of storage outside of human(letter), and then goes through the possibility of writing(analog technological gramma), and reaches the possibility of interpretation and judgment(digital technological gramma, i.e., digital sign). As the technological gramma, the digital sign also has produced new consciousness and knowledge(informatics, cognitive science, etc.) today in a digital way. However, even though the technologies of producing and writing the sign has radically changed to a digital system, semiotics is still confined in the (late) structuralist linguistic methodology devised on analog technology conditions. Since the problem of the sign is also an issue of technological grammatization, semiotics needs to be updated in response to the principles of production and writing of digital signs. This dissertation intends to design the digital semiotics based on the following three specific conditions of the digital sign: first, the possibility of calculation/algorithmization for all the sign as data, second, the possibility of sending and receiving a large amount of data through the network, and third, the possibility of the universal character based on a numeric system. In other words, the digital semiotics can be explored on the premise that quantitative analysis of the sign is possible. The approach proposed by this paper to quantitatively analyze the signification of digital signs is the application of a computational analysis model. If the 20th century was a transition era of “from work to text,” it is now “from text to data”. Under the former condition, semiotics had to perform analysis with only the so-called “close reading”. However, in the latter, semiotics can search a quantitative approach to signification through computational analysis by referring to the “distant reading” method. The derived result values can be represented by models such as graphs, scatter plots, networks, and algorithms. Although this paper presented several models in which the results of computational analysis of digital signs can be represented, it has limitations for the following reasons. First, in addition to the models presented here, there are various possibilities for representation. Second, in particular, it does not broadly illustrate practical analysis and cases. Those will be left as a future task.

This thesis is study on what kind of utility digital technology have in films ; especially ,digital visual effects in post production of film. Film is generally completed by Analogic process in traditional film making : photographing, editing and showing. Moreover, the introduction of digital technology in films comes into innovation film making to make the process more effective and to lessen budget. Visual effects is the one of the best way to make a spectator more impressive with narrative at movie show, and it shows not only a fantastic world but also real one. So, spectator catches the visual world easily and meets digital technology directly. Digital special visual effects(VFX) does not mean just digital technology, which includes compositing with optical technology. In addition, most of VFX have been showed 'compositing' on screen from 1970s to the present. In 1968 on <2001 : Space Odyssey> Stanley Kubrick, director utilized computer graphics in the movie first, and then George Lucas used VFX more and more in his movie <Star Wars> : Matt Painting, Miniature, Blue Screen, etc. In 1980s many SF movies produced which owed to VFX, so they called 1980s SF era. In 1990s Hollywood produces many lines of film genre like adventure, romance, fantasy, drama, horror, etc. and these kinds of genres are also presented by VFX. More than any other things, the movie, <Titanic> or <What Dreams May Come> persue photo realism, in other words, VFX in these movies was presented to show realistic image which is different from the fantastic and spectacle VFX of SF movies. It means the field of VFX becomes broad over various film genres. In conclusion, digital technology has been utilized since it came in films, and that VFX has especially played an important role in spectators' visual satisfaction. However, the VFX of post production does not mean a representative method in all fields of digital technology, that is to say, digital technology can be found all film making process : photographing, editing and showing; for example, Dogma movies like <Dancer in the dark> directed by Lars Von Trier were made of 6 mm digital camcorder and edited by digital non-linear editing(DNLE) system, in addition, <Star Wars : Episode 1> directed by George Lucas was shown on digital screen at several theaters in NewYork and LA. Now a digital technology is close to our life and industry. To be sure, digital technology will be developed day by day and will be the vital one in film industry. Accordingly, in the near future we can meet a movie on digital screen, and that can experience new technology on internet at home.
When the Architectural Design Process combined with Digital Technology, a computer as the new design tool was introduced to Architecture. As the role of computer has increased, a expression medium that used to regard as the secondary design assistance in the past, became to change the essence of Architecture. These tools based on the technological development broke from the expression media such as a drawing or simulation, and they have crucial roles as the architect's design assistance to decide construction and expand thoughts. However, even though there have been various discussions about the role and status of the Architectural Design applied to Digital Technology without being clearly defined its range, it is the fact that people have been try to analyze works through researching the theories rather than making individual architects theories or compound words combined with IT(Information Technology) terminology. Therefore, this research is focused on Digital Technology. On this research, I tried to observe changed design processes after the introduction of digital technology into the architectural design, and search values of digital technology through the analysis and comparison with works before the digital age. I classified digital architects into 3 categories in order to set limits of this study. Therefore, I chose one of them as my research: creation and transformation of the form, which mostly reflects architects will to design. Most of the architects selected in the category focused on the form rather than the program. I methodically divided them into two classes. In order to select the architect for my study, I classified architects who have a clear progress after the adaptation of digital technology for the design, among architects who have actively used digital technology for the architectural design. Therefore, I selected two architecture; Frank Gehry, who uses the architectural language as the method of spoken language rather than working on an analytic and theoretical background; Eisenman, who applies digital paradigm for design and develops design process. After I sorted their works before and after the use of digital technology, I analyzed each process. And then I studied on the background of the introduction, purpose of digital technology, and the effects on the change of design, through the comparative study on their two different applied methods to digital technology. As the result of this study, I found out common features of Frank Gehry and Peter Eisenman. They formalized the new style by applying digital tools. That is, they formalize the intuitive three-dimensional architecture through 3-dimentional tools and thoughts, after breaking from the thinking process about the three-dimensional architecture through the two-dimensional plan in the past. Besides, they automatically extract two-dimensional drawings such as a plan, elevation, and section. CATIA, digital media that Frank Gehry mainl uses, is used in Skin-in process, which is used for detailed works of airline or automobile industry, etc. Gehry regards architecture as the object and takes advantage of digital media as a tool to model and to materialize them into specific architectural form through intuitional manual processing regarding architecture. Therefore, for Gehry, Digital Technology is a strong expression tool to develop the domain of thinking. On the other hand, Peter Eisenman mainly uses the 'Form-Z' program that has a strong simulation function. He made a new architectural prototype by transforming directly or indirectly through this visual simulation process. Also, he realized the physical formation through the coordinate value derived from digital molding. Through this, Eisenman could accomplish his goal to search new formative values. Finally, digital technology has been developed as the format of various digital media, so it is exceeding the limit of human beings' thoughts and solving perfectly physical reappearance considered as impossibility. However, because Frank Gehry and Peter Eisenman are rare architects who have been working architectural design that accompanied physical configuration, I could keep studying on without big difficulty compared with other architects, who have been working unphysical architectural design, so-called a digital architect. But, it remains by another works how to explain the rest digital architects works, which have the characteristics of paper architects, and how much the category of architecture can be expanded.

This thesis is an attempt to present a socio-historical interpretation of mobile communication technologies and of their TV advertisements across the years since their commencement in 1996. By doing so, this historical study wishes to explicate how major ideas and discourses about the technologies are addressed and formulated in the TV ads, in conjunction with some significant social contexts in Korea over the years. A comparative content analysis on the TV ads between 1996 and 2010 reveals that the advertisers has shifted their focus from technologies themselves to their utilities in the consumers’ everyday lives such as the convenience and the pleasure endowed by the technologies. Three major ideas of the ads campaigns tentatively extracted at this stage were (1) ‘digital’ and ‘analogue’, (2) ‘we’ and ‘nation’, and (3) ‘pleasure’ and ‘everyday lives’. Socio-historic interpretations of the TV ads were accompanied by a critical discourse analysis on these key ideas with a view to establishing the key arguments of the thesis. First of all, ‘digital’ and ‘analogue’ discourses were found to be competing and contesting with each other across the years. Digital discourse mainly connected to a new mode of thinking and lifestyle appeared predominant in the early period, but eventually gave way to its alternative, analogue dialogue. The analogue discourse was brought with such values as humanity, slowness and happiness, which has been by and large undermined by the new, fancy digital technologies and their world, whereas some mixed forms of these two discourses were also found. In the meantime, digital-based mobile communication technologies were positively represented in the ads particularly in their relations to several signifiers indicating high-tech, sensibility and decency. Second, the discourses of ‘we’ and ‘nation’ contributed to the process of signification, providing two main findings, ‘winning support by interpellation’ and ‘interpellation of young generation’. Interpellating consumers as nation members, the ads gave them a vocation to it, and furthermore, create common culture with consumers, representing North Korea people as a same nation or another brother. They also postulated technology as that of the young generation through continuous interpellation of it. In final, mobile communication companies appeared friendly to young generation by sharing national sentiment with them. Finally, the discourses of ‘pleasure’ and also of ‘everyday lives’ were produced in the process which mobile communication technology was related to everyday lives through advertising. By the advertisements devised to arouse resistant pleasure, the technology was signified as a cultural commodity which brings with pleasure in one’s life. Most subjects in the ads were those who enjoy the pleasure of daily life with mobile communication technology, or common people like those around us. These ads induced consumers to accept the technology as a necessity in their lives by identifying with the subjects and forming a social consensus. Thus, the ads formed a common culture, ‘pleasant experience’, and interpellated consumers into it. Consequently, it was found that all the signification of the digital technology by the mobile communication advertising was targeted toward a single point: within everyday life. Mobile communication advertising sets a goal on daily life deeply and produced four fantasies for each period: ‘hope of new technology’, ‘borrowing from the future’, ‘entry into a part of the present’ and ‘settlement in daily life’. It makes the fantasy of a new hope which new technology gives us at first, and signify the technology of the future by providing imaginary technology in future as the present one in the second period. Then, in the third period, they prepare to enter into daily life, and finally settle into everyday lives producing a fantasy of technology of life. In this process, however, it minimizes the on negative effects of the technology bring in blind faith in it, lead the gap between the haves and the have-nots, and even use the economic burden which they put on consumers. As a result, a digital technology, mobile communication has been embedded in our society since 1996 through competition of ‘analogue’ and ‘digital’, interpellation of ‘we’ and ‘nation’, and invitation to ‘everyday lives’ and ‘pleasure.’ This is a socio-cultural history of advertising and, at the same time, that of a new technology.

Museum is a typical non-formal education organization which provides free learning environment to learners and enables them to do self-directed learning through their personal experience and choice. In addition, education using displays of museum makes learners participate and communicate so that it can provide an environment which allows them to have contextual learning. Due to the educational features of museum, it has gotten attention for its appropriate environment for learner centered learning, which is emphasized in constructionism. This enables participational and experiential learner centered education that the public education has not taken care of. Furthermore, It is also recognized as a life-long education organization that is a place for cultural enjoyment and where various kind of educations for adult, family and multi-cultural visitors are possible. Meanwhile, the rapid development of digital technology makes practical use of digital device a required skill for living, and it hugely affects on the education field and other social areas. For this reason, museums are making different kinds of attempts to enhance the relationship between learners and educational features of constructionism museum using modern technology. This study aims to analyze the status of digital technology use in domestic and foreign museums' exhibition and education sectors, and to suggest a development direction through the analysis. To accomplish that, theoretical background about the use of digital technology was studied. And then the status of digital technology use in domestic and foreign museums' exhibition and education sectors was analyzed. Based on the analysis, the development direction for those sectors is suggested. The outcome shows that for the invigoration of programs which use digital technology, creating organization that is specialized for digital expertise, and education program for building up digital literacy of museum personnels are needed. It is also confirmed that building infrastructures to realize the features of museum in the digital era is needed. In addition, when it comes to the aspect of teaching method, the need of developing mobile applications or online resources related with museum and developing programs, which BYOD and all time learning are available, are verified. And a development direction that recommends the use of project based learning is suggested. This article also suggests digital literacy educations or workshops for museum personnels who are producing, expanding and sharing digital information of museum using digital technology. They are not only for museum personnels, but also for ordinary visitors as well. In conclusion, it is expected that through this study, museum workers or researchers can get practical help for developing and applying programs that use digital technology in museum.
