        Proton elastic scatterings on ¹¹Li, ⁹Li, and ⁶Li isotopes at about Eρ=60 MeV are analyzed using an optical folding model that is constructed by convolution of a semi-microscopic density-denpendent M3Y interaction (DDM3Y) and a density distribution of the target nucleus. The results using this folding potential as a real part of the optical potential are shown to describe well the experimental data of p + ¹¹Li as well as p + ⁹Li elastic scatterings.

      • Hangul Text Compression in parallel machine

        This paper describes an efficient coding method for Korean characters (alphabet) using a three-state transition graph. On a parallel machine such as the MasPar Machine, which is on SIMD-SM(EREW-PRAM). To our knowledge, this is the first achievement of its kind. This new method, called the Parallel Hangul Dynamic Coding Method (PHDCM), compresses about 3.5 bits per Korean character, which is more than 1 bit shorter than the conventional codes introduced thus far to achieve extensive code compression. As a result, the new method decreases data redundancy. When we ran the method on a MasPar machine, it achieved a 49.314-fold speedup with 64 processors having 10 million Korean characters.

      • English Text Compression in Parallel

        Due to rapid progress in data communications, we are able to acquire the information we need with ease. One means of achieving this is a parallel machine such as the MasPar. Although the parallel machine makes it possible to receive/transmit enormous quantities of data, because of the increasing volume of information that must be processed, it is necessary to transmit only a minimal amount of data bits. This paper suggests a new coding method for the parallel machine, which compresses the data by reducing redundancy. Parallel Dynamic Octal Compact Mapping (PHDCM) compresses at least 1 byte per word, compared with other coding techniques, and achieves a 54.188-fold speedup with 64 processors to transmit 10 million characters.

      • VITAL을 이용한 VHDL TTL 라이브러리 연구

        A TTL library is described in VHDL following VITAL which is a new standard timing constraints on VHDL. Using VITAL packages, timing delay was obtained as near practical value. 39 cells in TTL ALS library have been designed and simulated in VHDL. With the aid of the VHDL TTL library, traditional design which is using TTL library can be translated in VHDL. Example TTL circuit designs are shown with acceptable results comparing both using VITAL and not using VITAL packages.

        Two series of main chain liquid crystalline polymers consisting of aromatic Schiff-base mesogenic units and polymethylene spacers were synthesized and their thermal transitions and liquid crystalline properties were studied. And a series of dimesogenic compounds having two identical, terminal Schiff-base type mesogens and a central polymethylene spacer were prepared and their thermal transitions and liquid crystalline properties were compaerd with those of the corresponding monomesogenic compounds. The mesomorphic properties of the polymers and the compounds were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and on a hot-stage of a polarizing microscope.

      • MasPar 머쉰상에서 두가지 종류의 한글에 대한 효율적인 코딩 방법

        한글에는 조합형과 완성형인 두 가지 종류가 존재를 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이들 두 가지 종류의 한글에 대한 효율적인 코딩 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 이같은 코딩 방법을 이용해서, 조합형인 경우에 한글 한 자당 약 10.5% 정도의 코드 길이가 축약됨을 보임과 동시에 완성형인 경우에는 약 45% 이상 축약을 됨을 제시하였다. 다시 말해서, 완성형 한글이 조합형 한글의 경우보다 34.5% 정도 좋은 축약률을 나타냄을 알 수가 있다. 또한 프로세서수가 64개인 MasPar머쉰상에 이같은 코딩 방법을 실제 구현하였을 때, 조합형 한글의 가속도(Speedup)는 45.851인 반면 완성형 한글의 경우는 47.274의 가속도임을 얻었다. There are two types of composition systems for the Korean alphabet : a combined system and a composite system. This paper describes an efficient coding method for both of these two types. Using this coding method, with the combined system yields about 10.5% code-length savings per a Korean character, while it yields about 45% savings with the composite system. In other words, the coding method produces a better result(i.e. 34.5% better) with the composite system than with the combined system. The simulation has been performed on a MasPar machine having 64 processors. The results show that the combined system achieved a 45.851-fold speedup while the composite system achieved a 47.274-fold speedup.

      • 광산란 방법에 의한 Sodium Dodecly Sulfate 미셀의 크기에 대한 연구

        The mean gyration radii, Ṛg of elongated micelles of sodium dodecyl surfate(SDS) were measured using angular dissymmetry of the dynamically scattered light. The measurements were performed at low NaCl concentration(0.05M)and high NaCl concentration(0.30M) at temperatures, 25°C, 30°C and 40°C. The measured Ṛg values dissymmetry, (d(θ)) versus the cosθ of the pure SDS micelle was spherical with the effective radius of 37.5A at 40°C. the SDS micelles in electrolyte solution were found to be thin rod-like between 130A and 390A in length, and flexible bended rod-like between 600A and 680A in length, as the temperature is liwered from 40°C to 25°C. As a result, the non-rigid SDS micelles transform gradually from sphere via prolate ellipsoid to thin rod-like and flexible bended rod-like micelles as the electrolyte are added and the temperature is lowered.

      • 교수 인적사항의 전산시스템 구축

        In order for our university to successfully cope with our rapidly changing information society, it is imperative to computerize all scattered data in the university. Amongst all university information, computerizing the personal information of professors as well as their reserch accomplishments is a highly demanded area. We have initiated this research to cut down high job-inefficiency in our university personnel who are spending so much time preparing files requested by the administrative and planning departments; in many instances the same file on several different occasions. We are currently testing the LAN system in our engineering college and by the beginning of next year, we are planning to present the appropriate system which will have the capacity to handle the vast amount of information for the entire college. We are utilizing the following for our current research project; a picture scanner by UMAX model (UC630) for inputting personal picture, a newly built Korean font for ease of inputting data, and a database using data file, image file and index file for file handling. The system is comprised of IBM-PC/AT (above 286), Super VGA cart (256 colors, ET4000), Epson LQ series, HP Deskjet 500 or Laser printer, etc. Finally, our project’s function can be largely divided into data registration, deletion, edition, reference and print. We have tested this system with Hoseo University’s faculty (130 professors).
