논문은 ‘복음주의 기독교상담이 무엇인가?’라는 질문에 대한 답을 찾으려고 한다. 한편 자명하고 근본적인 물음이지만, 복음주의 기독교상담의 현 위치를 파악하고 정체성을 분명하게 하며 그 의의를 올바로 회복하기 위해서 필요한 질문이라고 생각한다. 이를 위해 첫째, 역사적 흐름을 되 짚어보며 복음주의가 무엇인지 추적했다. 복음주의 신학과 신앙, 더 나아가 이 운동이 핵심적 가치로 여기는 것을 찾아본다. 둘째, 주로 영미권에서 수용되고 있는 기독교상담에 대한 정의와 특징을 찾아본다. 이를 통해 변화하는 상황이지만 회복하고 발전해야 하는 복음주의 기독교상담의 독특성이 무엇인지 밝힌다. 선행연구를 통해 밝혀진 내용을 확인하고, 그 중에서도 복음전파, 제자화, 죄와 성경이 강조되었다. 더불어 여러 분야에서 다양한 접근을 시도하고 있는 기독교적 치료 가운데, 복음주의 기독교상담의 범주를 어떻게 설정해야하는 지를 생각한다. 성경적 상담, 기독교 심리학, 통합론적 접근의 이론과 복음주의와의 관련성을 드러내는데 초점을 모았다. 셋째, 이러한 복음주의적 특징을 회복하기 위한 현재의 여러 노력 중에서 몇 가지를 선별하여 과제로 제시했다. 상담자의 영성, 영혼돌봄의 신앙전통에서 자원을 찾기, 기독교 세계관으로 다시보기, 기독교상담의 새 틀 짜기가 논의되었다. This article seeks the answer to the question, “What is the Evangelical Christian counseling?” Although the question seems to be obvious and theoretical, it will be a meaningful pursuit in order to figure out the current status of the Evangelical Christian counseling, keep its identity and restore correctly its significance. The first focus is upon the traditional understanding of evangelical theology, evangelical faith, and core values of the movement. Second, the article exams the definition and distinctives of Christian counseling accepting in the Anglosphere. It gives us far more clear understanding of the features of the Evangelical Christian counseling which need to be built and recovered today. In addition to the precedent study on this topic, evangelization, discipleship, sin, and the Scripture are emphasized. After setting up the category of the Evangelical Christian counseling, the article focuses more specifically on the relationship of Biblical counseling, Christian psychology, and integration view to evangelicalism. Third, the article suggests some areas of research and practice related to building up the Evangelical Christian counseling. And then, it discusses Christian counselor`s spirituality, spiritual resources from Christian sour care tradition, the necessity of integrating several topics from a Christian world view, and new framework of Christian counseling.

본 연구는 상담이론의 종류들을 일반상담과 기독교 상담으로 나누어 살펴보 고, 상담의 주요 요소들과 관계된 전제들을 고찰하여 기독교 상담은 일반상담 과의 종합할 수 없는 근본적인 차이들이 있음을 지적했다. 그리고 계속해서 이 글은 기독교 상담의 정체성을 위해 기독교상담의 기본원리와 기독교상담의 독 특성을 고찰하여 일반상담과 다른 정체성을 기독교상담은 가지고 있다고 제시 했으며, 명확한 정체성을 위해 신학적 체계를 강조했다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 기독교상담의 정체성을 위해 기독교적 관점의 교육과 정체성의 중요성의 교육이 필요함을 역설했다. The main approach of this study is to compare the types of theories, elements and premises in Christian counselling and general counselling in order to point out the fundamental differences that make integration between these two groups impossible to achieve. Moreover, in an attempt to define the identity of Christian counselling, this paper examines the basic principles of Christian counselling and identifies idiosyncracies inherent to Christian counselling. The conclusion reached here is that the identity of Christian counselling, which is clearly built upon a Theological structure, is fundamentally different from that of general counselling. Finally, in order to develop the identity of Christian counselling, this study emphasizes the importance of education from a Christian point of view.

요즘 한국사회에는 상담에 대한 관심이 많이 고조되고 있다. 특히 한국은 지 난 50년간의 급속한 경제발달과 도시화 핵가족화로 인하여 우리들은 많은 정 신적인 후유증을 경험하고 있다. 너무나 급속하게 변하는 사회 구조에 미처 대 처하지 못한 사람들은 심각한 정신적 위기와 혼란을 겪게 된다. 세대간의 갈등 과 이혼의 급증으로 인한 가족의 해체 그리고 사회 전반에서 나타나는 개인이 심리적으로 불안정한 현실에서 상담의 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 이러한 사회적 인 배경 속에서 자연스럽게 상담과 상담교육이 급속하게 뿌리내리게 되었다. 아직까지 상담교육에 비해서 상담전문가들이 사역할 장은 많지 않은 것이 현 실이다. 그러나 앞으로는 육체적인 고통을 해결받기 위해서 의사들을 찾아가듯 이 마음의 고통을 위해서 상담자를 찾는 사회적인 풍토가 뿌리 내릴 것이라고 생각된다. 한국 상담교육의 역사는 그리 길지 않다. 아직 걸음마를 내딛는 단계에 있 다. 특히 신학교에서 행해지는 상담전공의 대학원 과정의 교육은 더욱 미흡하 다. 앞으로 더욱 체계적이고 심도 있는 교육이 요구된다. 이를 위해서 현재 행 해지고 있는 상담교육의 커리큘럼을 연구하고 분석하는 일은 매우 필요하다. 본 연구는 몇 가지 의의를 가지고 있다. 첫째, 복음주의상담학회에 소속된 학 교들의 상담전공 커리큘럼을 분석함으로써 현재 진행되고 있는 상담교육의 실 태를 간접적으로나마 분석할 수 있게 한다. 둘째, 미국의 신학교 상담대학원 과정을 분석함으로써 한국 신학교 상담교육과의 비교를 통해서 유사점과 차이 점을 분석한다. 셋째, 이러한 과정을 통해서 신학교 상담교육의 커리큘럼의 재 조정을 시도하는 계기를 마련하는 데 있다. 본 연구는 문헌 연구를 중심으로 한다. 기독교대학 또는 신학교에 소속된 상 담대학원 또는 일반대학원의 상담학과의 요람을 중심으로 교육과정과 내용을 중점적으로 분석하며 개설된 시간표를 참고로 사용한다. 연구의 범위는 복음주 의상담학회에 소속된 학교를 중심으로 여섯 대학원을 대상으로 한다. 그 대상 학교는 국제신학교 상담학과, 백석대학교 상담대학원, 성결대학교 신학대학원 상담학과, 아세아연합신학대학교 상담대학원, 총신대학교 상담대학원, 한영신 학교 상담대학원이다(가나다 순 기술). 이러한 국내 상담대학원과 비교하기 위 해서 미국의 카버난트신학교(Covenant Theological Seminary), 덴버신학교 (Denver Seminary), 풀러신학교(Fuller Seminary), 리폼드신학교(Reformed Theological School), 트리니티신학교(Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), 웨스트민스터신학교(Westminster Theological Seminary) 등 여섯 학교를 분석 대상으로 삼았다. There has been a lot of need for counseling ministry in recent years due to the fast changes in the Korean society. In the last 50 years, Korean society went through the rapid economic development and the break up of an extended family system. These changes made people to suffer from unstable psychological state. However the history of counseling education in Korea has not been long. Especially the counseling program, training Christian counselors in the graduate level, in the seminary has begun in the last 15 years. The purpose of this paper is researching graduate counseling program in the seminary or the Christian universities in Korea. Six seminaries from Korea and six seminaries from the U.S. were chosen to compare the counseling curriculums. Each school`s counseling curriculums were analysed in order to upgrade the counseling program. Six schools from Korea are Kukje Seminary, Baksuk University, Sungkyul University, Asian Center for Theological Studies and Mission, ChongShin University, HanYoung Seminary. Six seminary from the U.S are Covenant Theological Seminary, Denver Seminary, Fuller Seminary, Reformed Theological School, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Westminster Theological Seminary.
