성인중기 전문대학원생이 학업에 부여하는 의미 : 직업경력 10년 이상 한국기술교육대학교 HRD 전문대학원생을 대상으로

이 연구는 나 자신이 참여하고 있는 한국기술교육대학교(이하 한기대) HRD 전문대학원 석·박사 과정에 있는 재학생들 중 정규 대학 졸업 후 10년 이상의 직업경력을 가진 성인들을 대상으로, 그들의 학위과정 학업에 그들은 어떤 의미를 부여하고 있는지를 이해하기 위해 학위과정 학업 동기와 학업 경험에 대한 그들의 진술을 자료로 하여 질적 연구를 수행한 것이다. 연구 참여자들은 인력개발 분야 혹은 그와 유사분야 직종에 종사하고 있는 사람들이며, 2012년 6월 9일부터 2012년 12월 8일까지 매주 토요일본 대학원 빈 강의실에서 1명씩 모두 6명에 대해 심층 면담을 수행하고, 그 내용을 녹취하였다. 녹취한 내용을 전사한 다음, 연구 목적에 부합된다고 생각되는 의미 진술문을 추려내고, 그 문장에 나타난 참여자의 의도, 인식, 느낌을 중심으로 분석, 의미 요소들을 범주화하고 의미주제를 도출 하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 연구 참여자들의 전문대학원 진학은 무엇보다도 경쟁 속에서 살아남아야 하는 직장경험에 의해 촉진되었으며, 학업경험에 직장에 서의 한계 극복이라는 의미를 부여하였다. 둘째, 학력의 가치를 인정하는 사회 문화적 맥락들은 학업에, 존중받고, 매력적인 인간으로 살아가는 것이라는 의미를 부여하게 만든다. 셋째, 연구 참여자들은 성인중기의 직장인으로 , 학업에, 퇴직이후를 대비하는 것이라는 의미를 부여하였으며, 학업을 통해 HRD 분야 전문가로서 자기 성장을 주도하는 의미를 부여하였다. 넷째, 연구 참여자들은 학업에, 자기의 가치를 높여 사회에 공헌할 수있는 기회를 모색하는 것이라는 의미를 부여하였다. 다섯째, 연구 참여자들은 학업에 대한 기대와 두려움을 가지고 학업에 임한다. 이러한 경험을 통해 그들은, 학업에, 스스로의 한계를 극복하고 도전하는 것이라는 의미를 부여하였다. 여섯째, 연구 참여자들은 HR 분야에서 실무를 해온 사람들로서, 학업 에, 현장 경험지식을 체계화하고 구체화하는 동시에 인증 받는 것이라는 의미를 부여하였고, 그 과정에서 학업의 즐거움을 느꼈다. 일곱째, 연구 참여자들은 삶의 정점에 있는 직업인이자 생활인으로서 학업을 병행해야 하는 어려움이 있었다. 하지만 그들은, 학업에, 삶의 목표를 실현하는 과정이라는 의미를 부여하였다. 여덟째, 연구 참여자들은 학업경험을 통해 학위과정이 끝이 아니며, 앞으로 해야 할 일에 대한 자기실현적 예언의 의미를 부여하였다. 결론적으로 의미주제로 부터 성인 중기의 연구 참여자들이 전문대학원 학업에 부여하는 의미는 ‘전문가로서의 자기성장과 사회공헌 하기’로 직관 되었다. The purpose of this study was to understand the meanings which middle-aged students with job experience over 10 years attending Korea University of Technology and Education graduate school of HRD are attaching to their academic experience where I am attending too. The participants have been working at the job related to human resource development or similar field after their university, and I asked six men/woman for interview about what is the reason they decide to enter the school and what they has experienced in school. To explore the research problem, I use the qualitative research method with the phenomenological approach. The interview was fulfilled from ninth June 9th, 2013 to December 8th, 2013 every saturday in the empty classroom. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; first, Above all things, job experience which requires struggle for existence facilitated their entering graduate school and they attached the meaning of overcoming the limit in the competitions to their academic experience. Second, they attached the meaning of being held in respect and as a attractive person to their academic experience in the social-cultural contexts of admitting values of educational attainment. Third, as a mid-aged worker, participants attached the meaning of preparing after their retirement and leading personal growth as expert of HRD to their academic experience. Fourth, they attached the meaning of opportunity which they could contribute to society through enhancing their values to their academic experience. Fifth, Participants have expectation for class and anxiety and through these experience, they attached meaning which they challenge their limits to their academic experience. Sixth, participants who has been working in the HR field attached meaning of systemizing and materializing their experienced knowledge to their academic experience. And they feel a pleasure of learning. Seventh, Participants who are in the peak of life have difficulties that should combine both working and learning but they attached the meaning of a part of course for achievement their goal of life to their academic experience. Eighth, Participants recognize that this course is not the end, and attached the meaning of a self-fulfilling prophecy for things that they do in the future to their academic experience. To conclude, the meanings which participants attaching to academic experience in graduate school are intuited personal growth as expert and contributing for society. The personal growth is what he or she to be free from prejudice, custom and culture etc.
