The objective of this study is to investigate the behavior of reinforced concrete cobels. In ACI building code, shear-friction analogy has been suggested for span-to-depth ratio less than 1.0, regardless of the failure mechanism of cobels. However, based on our analysis results, it is resonable to apply the shear-friction analogy for a/d ≤ 0.5 and strut-and-tie method for 0.5 < a/d ≤ 1.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to propose the solution of blighted apartment problems which make a bad effect on the urban environment, safe of citizens, and regional economy. Pusan has unpleasant physical environment for urban growth. So, it was impossible to develop systematically residential area. Many apartments need to be built regardless of site condition and it has caused many problem like dangers resulted from only 20-year life of inferior buildings and awful urban environment.As a fist step to analyze the blighted apartments in Pusan, I investigated present aged apartments situation which is older than 20 years. They have no management system to delay ruin and economic capacity to rebuild their houses. Furthermore recent reconstruction for benefit of low-apartments owners become origin why they have no interest in manage their houses. Defending economic waste to rebuild apartments too young to reject, We make the law to be arranged for withdrawing the development benefit. Also we have to solidify the management system to delay the blight process and prepare the reconstruction funds for pauper who have no ability to control and rebuild their apartments. Development of Transgenic Lettuce Plants with Rice Ferritin Gene

Purpose of this study was to develop functional lettuce with higher Fe-storage protein by transfer of rice ferritin gene. The rice ferritin gene was introduced into lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) plants by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The rice ferritin gene was cloned into plant binary vector, pBI101-hm, harboring cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter and nopalin synthase terminator. After infection with A. tumefaciens LBA4404 containing pBI101-hm, transformed shoots were induced from tissues on Murashige and Skoog (MS) media supplemented with 0.1 ㎎ㆍℓ?¹ naphthaleneacetic acid, 1.5 ㎎ㆍℓ?¹ benzyladenine, 5 ㎎ㆍℓ?¹ hygromycin, and 200 ㎎ㆍℓ?¹ cefotaxim. Induced shoots were rooted in MS media supplemented with 5 ㎎ㆍℓ?¹ hygromycin and 200 ㎎ㆍℓ?¹ cefotaxim. To confirm the transfer of rice ferritin gene to the genome of lettuce plants, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis was conducted using specific primers of rice ferritin gene. A PCR fragment of 750 bp was obtained from each transformed plants, which was the predicted size of rice ferritin gene but not from non-transformed plants. Reverse transcription-PCR results showed the expression of transgene from transgenic plants. Inductively coupled plasma spectrometry analysis for determination of Fe concentration showed that transgenic lettuce with rice ferritin genes had higher concentration than non-transgenic lettuce.

Single and 4 weeks oral administration of New wonbangwoohwangchungsimwon (NSCH) which was used l-muscone as substitutive material of musk, to beagle dogs of both sexes were performed to investigate both acute and subacute toxicity. Beagle dogs (3 males and 3 females) in acute experiments were administered orally with sinlge dose of 2,000 ㎎/㎏ and groups of 9 male and 9 female beagle dogs in subacute experiments were given daily different dosage of NSCH, 160 ㎎/㎏/day (low dosage group), 400 ㎎/㎏/day (middle dosage group), 1,000 ㎎/㎏/day (high dosage group) once a day for 4 weeks by oral route according to the Established Regulation of Korea Food and Drug Administration (1996. 4. 16). LD_50 value for beagle dogs was more than 2,000 ㎎/㎏ per oral for both male and females. In animals administered with NSCH, there were neither dead animals nor significant changes of body weights. In addition, no differences were found between control and treated groups in clinical sign, urinalysis, eye examination, hematology, serum chemistry, organ weight and other fingings. No histological lesions were observed in both control and treatment groups. Above data strongly suggset that NSCH in beagle dogs is considered to be safe.

Recently, eco-friendly electric motorcycles have been considered to replace aging gasoline motorcycles to reduce the amount of suspended fine dust in air. However, existing rechargeable battery-powered electric motorcycles have been found unacceptable by users because of their many limitations, such as long charging time, short travel distance per charge, and low driving speed. To overcome the drawbacks of conventional electric motorcycles, this paper proposes an exchangeable battery-powered electric motorcycle and a new frame shape for housing the exchangeable battery. The proposed frame is similar to that of current electric motorcycles; however, the shape and position of the saddle support, battery, and controller mount section are redesigned. The safety of the presented frame is verified through static and dynamic analyses using ABAQUS. In particular, the dynamic analysis is conducted under the most extreme condition among the various operating situations, thus confirming the robustness of the proposed frame design.
Photoreaction of 8-Methoxypsoralen with Thymine

Photoreaction of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) with thymine (${\ge}$ 300 nm) was carried out in the dioxane-water frozen state. One major and two minor monoaddition products between 8-MOP and thymine were isolated by various chromatographic methods. Major monoadduct was characterized to be a C4 cycloaddition product formed between 5,6-double bond of thymine and 3,4-double bond of 8-MOP with cis-anti stereochemistry. Two minor adducts were proved to be stereoisomers of this major adduct.
