      • Enhancing Spatial Awareness: The Use of Hand Gestures in Navigational Tasks

        ( Zijun Zhao ),( Seunghee Lee ) 한국감성과학회 2023 한국감성과학회 국제학술대회(ICES) Vol.2023 No.-

In this study, we explore the role of hand gestures in wayfinding and route memory enhancement during navigation app usage. We conducted experiments with ten participants and recorded their hand gestures as they navigated to an unfamiliar destination. We categorized the gestures into three types: finger pointing, hand horizontal movement, and palm flexion. Participants' feedback suggested that these gestures played a significant role in improving their spatial awareness and memory recall. This paper sheds light on the potential benefits of incorporating hand gestures into navigation apps for better route memorization.

Biodegradation of C5-C8 Fatty Acids and Production of Aroma Volatiles by Myroides sp. ZB35 Isolated from Activated Sludge

        Zijun Xiao,Xiankun Zhu,Lijun Xi,Xiaoyuan Hou,Li Fang,Jian R. Lu 한국미생물학회 2014 The journal of microbiology Vol.52 No.5

In the effluents of a biologically treated wastewater from aheavy oil-refining plant, C5-C8 fatty acids including pentanoicacid, hexanoic acid, heptanoic acid, octanoic acid, and2-methylbutanoic acid are often detected. As these residualfatty acids can cause further air and water pollution, a newMyroides isolate ZB35 from activated sludge was explored todegrade these C5-C8 fatty acids in this study. It was foundthat the biodegradation process involved a lag phase thatbecame prolonged with increasing acyl chain length whenthe fatty acids were individually fed to this strain. However, when fed as a mixture, the ones with longer acyl chains werefound to become more quickly assimilated. The branched 2-methylbutanoic acid was always the last one to be depletedamong the five fatty acids under both conditions. Metaboliteanalysis revealed one possible origin of short chain fatty acidsin the biologically treated wastewater. Aroma volatiles including2-methylbutyl isovalerate, isoamyl 2-methylbutanoate,isoamyl isovalerate, and 2-methylbutyl 2-methylbutanoatewere subsequently identified from ZB35 extracts, linking thesource of the fruity odor to these esters excreted by Myroidesspecies. To our best knowledge, this is the first finding of thesearoma esters in bacteria. From a biotechnological viewpoint, this study has revealed the potential of Myroides species asa promising source of aroma esters attractive for food andfragrance industries.

A local solution approach for level-set based structural topology optimization in isogeometric analysis

Zijun Wu,Shuting Wang,Renbin Xiao,Lianqing Yu 한국CDE학회 2020 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.7 No.4

This paper develops a new topology optimization approach for minimal compliance problems based on the parameterized level set method in isogeometric analysis. Here, we choose the basis functions as level set functions. The design variables are obtained with Greville abscissae based on the corresponding collocation points. The zero-level set boundaries are derived from the level set function values of the interpolation points in all knot spans. In the optimization iteration process, the whole design domain is discretized into two types of subdomains around the zero-level set boundaries, undesign area with void materials and redesign domain with solid materials. To decrease the size of equations and the computational consumptions, only the solid material area is recalculated and the void material area is discarded according to the high accuracy of isogeometric analysis. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity of the proposed optimization method.

Improved Conductivity Image of Human Lower Extremity Using MREIT with Chemical Shift Artifact Correction

        Zijun Meng,김형중,Saurav ZK Sajib,Munish Chauhan,Woo Chul Jeong,Young Tae Kim,우응제 대한의용생체공학회 2012 Biomedical Engineering Letters (BMEL) Vol.2 No.1

Purpose In performing human MREIT imaging experiments,we addressed two technical issues of the chemical shift artifact and measurement noise. In this study, we present improved conductivity images of in vivo human lower extremity using the chemical shift artifact correction and multi-echo methods. Methods To remove the chemical shift artifact in both MR magnitude and phase images, the three-point Dixon’s waterfat separation technique was modified for MREIT. Since the knee is more sensitive to injection currents, we limited the current amplitude in knee experiments to 3 mA to avoid painful sensation. We implemented this technique by incorporating a lately developed multi-echo based MREIT pulse sequence to enhance MR signals themselves and also by prolonging the total current injection time. Results Experimental results clearly show that the correction method effectively eliminates artifacts related with the chemical shift phenomenon in reconstructed conductivity images. The multi-echo method is advantageous in terms of SNR of MR magnitude, noise level of Bz compared with single-echo. The chemical shift artifact correction using multi-echo method allowed conductivity image reconstruction of the knee with 3 mA injection currents. Conclusions We expect that MREIT conductivity imaging incorporating both the chemical shift artifact correction and multi-echo pulse sequence would accelerate further experimental MREIT studies.

Establishment and validation of five autophagy-related signatures for predicting survival and immune microenvironment in glioma

        Zhao Zijun,Wu Yue,Wang Zairan,Xu Jiayi,Wang Yizheng,Zhao Zongmao 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.1

Background: Gliomas, especially Glioblastoma multiforme, are the most frequent type of primary tumors in central nervous system. Increasing researches have revealed the relationship between autophagy and tumor, while the molecular mechanism of autophagy in glioma is still rarely reported. Objective: Our research aims to conform the autophagy-related genes (ARGs) implicated in the development and progression of glioma and improve our understanding of autophagy in glioma. Methods: 20 candidate ARGs were screened through the protein-protein interaction network. We also downloaded the publicly accessible glioma data for 665 individuals from TCGA and 970 individuals from CGGA with RNA sequences and clinicopathological information. Subsequently, univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis identified 5 key ARGs among the 20 candidate genes as key prognostic genes for survival, GSEA and immune response analysis. Results: ATG5, BCL2L1, CASP3, CASP8, GAPDH were identified as key ARGs in our research. Further studies showed that the high-risk population was linked to a dismal prognosis and suggested an immune-inhibitory microenvironment. GSEA results demonstrated that high risk population was closely related to DNA repair, hypoxia pathways, implicated in immunosuppression and carcinogenesis. Through CMap, we finally identified 14 candidate drugs for the ARG high risk population. Conclusions: This study established and verified an ARG risk model, which can serve as an independent predictor for prognosis, reflect on the strength of the immune response and predict the potential drugs in glioma. Our findings offer new understandings of ARG molecular mechanism and promising therapeutic targets for glioma treatment.

A topology optimization approach to structure design with self-supporting constraints in additive manufacturing

Wu Zijun,Xiao Renbin 한국CDE학회 2022 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.9 No.2

The manufacturability model of complex structure is the premise of manufacturing, and it is necessary to consider material properties, structure design, manufacturing constraints, and so on. However, due to the inconsistent restrictions between design and manufacturing, it is not easy to obtain the manufacturable structure that matches its design performance using layer-wise manufacturing. This paper presents a topology optimization method for manufacturable form, which incorporates the self-supporting factors such as overhang angle and length based on the characteristics of the generic additive manufacturing process. The support relationship between the supporting and supported elements in self-supporting constraints is mapped to a cascade relationship between two adjacent layers. To avoid a low-density structure supporting multiple high-density ingredients, we establish a fabrication model using the smax and smin operators. Also, the sensitivity analysis and variable updating method are given under the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization method. Furthermore, numerical examples are shown to validate the correctness and superiority of this proposed self-supporting structure design method.

      • 중국 소셜미디어의 여성 담론 생산에 비판적 고찰연구

        이자준(Yi-zijun),장벽월(Zhang-biyue) 동북아시아문화학회 2023 동북아시아문화학회 국제학술대회 발표자료집 Vol.2023 No.10

With the ever-evolving landscape, social media has fostered a dynamic bidirectional flow of information, effectively overturning the traditional top-down communication paradigm. As communication subjects have become increasingly civilianized, the rapid pace of communication, and the proliferation of diverse content have led a growing number of individuals to opt for the social media as their preferred medium for expressing thoughts on current events. social media has progressively assumed the role of a focal point for public discourse, offering Chinese women an expansive platform for unabridged self-expression. The widespread adoption of social media has, in turn, ushered in a novel public domain conducive to the advancement of women’s issues. The amalgamation of technological prowess and heightened accessibility has propelled women’s issues within the realm of social media into the spotlight. The mechanism for generating discourse surrounding women’s issues continues to evolve through discourse practices and self-empowerment initiatives. In addressing this, it becomes essential to foster collaboration among various stakeholders and to enhance media literacy. This collective effort will contribute to the meaningful reconstruction of the value system pertaining to women’s issues within the context of the public sphere. The advent and utilization of communication media have exerted a profound impact on the gender dynamics of society. Communication media not only define modes of communication but also shape the transmission of ideologies, social norms, and values, all of which significantly influence individuals’ thought processes and communication dynamics. Traditional media historically portrayed women in a manner that aligned with prevailing aesthetics in a predominantly male-dominated society. The advent of the Internet has heralded a transformation in both the content and methodology of communication. This transformation has dismantled the notion of information senders holding exclusive access to data, instead fostering a more egalitarian communication environment where both men and women enjoy equal opportunities for discourse at a technical level. This evolution has gradually shifted women from being passive subjects of discourse to active agents with a voice in shaping events.
