Saliva Supernatant miR-21: a Novel Potential Biomarker for Esophageal Cancer Detection

Objective: To identify whether saliva supernatant miR-21 can serve as a novel potential biomarker in patients with esophageal cancer (EC). Methods: 32 patients with EC and 16 healthy controls were recruited in this study. Total RNA was extracted from saliva supernatant samples for measurement of miR-21 levels using RT-qPCR and relationships between miR-21 levels and clinical characteristics of EC patients were analyzed. Results: miR-21 was significantly higher in the EC than control groups. The sensitivity and specificity were 84.4% and 62.5% respectively. Supernatant miR-21 levels showed no significant correlation with cancer stage, differentiation and nodal metastasis. Conclusions: Saliva supernatant miR-21 may be a novel biomarker for EC.

Thinopyrum elongatum serves as an excellent gene pool for wheat improvement. Genes for resistance to many biotic and abiotic stresses have been transferred from Th. elongatum to wheat through chromosome manipulation. For breeding programs,molecular markers enable screening of a large number of genotypes for alien chromosome introgressions. The main objective of the present study was to develop and characterize EST (expressed sequence tags) and PLUG (PCR-based Landmark Unique Gene) markers that can distinguish Th. elongatum chromatin from the wheat genomes. A total of 258 mapped EST primer pairs and 46 PLUG primer pairs were tested on DNA from wheat Chinese Spring (CS) and CS-Th. elongatum addition lines. The results showed that 43 primer pairs could be effectively mapped to specific Th. elongatum chromosomes. Twenty-two of the 43 markers displayed similar homoeologous chromosome locations to hexaploid wheat. Nine markers mapped to different linkage groups between wheat and Th. elongatum, while 12 makers mapped on two or three different Th. elongatum chromosomes. A comparison of molecular marker locations indicated that Th. elongatum genome was closely related to the D genome of wheat, and chromosome rearrangements and duplication had occurred in Th. elongatum and the wheat genomes. The markers will be useful in comparative gene mapping, chromosome evolutionary analysis, and gene introgression for wheat improvement using Th. elongatum accessions as gene donors.

<P>Magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT) is a new modality capable of imaging the electrical properties of human body using MRI phase information in conjunction with external current injection. Recent <I>in vivo</I> animal and human MREIT studies have revealed unique conductivity contrasts related to different physiological and pathological conditions of tissues or organs. When performing <I>in vivo</I> brain imaging, small imaging currents must be injected so as not to stimulate peripheral nerves in the skin, while delivery of imaging currents to the brain is relatively small due to the skull's low conductivity. As a result, injected imaging currents may induce small phase signals and the overall low phase SNR in brain tissues. In this study, we present numerical simulation results of the use of head MREIT for brain tumor detection. We used a realistic three-dimensional head model to compute signal levels produced as a consequence of a predicted doubling of conductivity occurring within simulated tumorous brain tissues. We determined the feasibility of measuring these changes in a time acceptable to human subjects by adding realistic noise levels measured from a candidate 3 T system. We also reconstructed conductivity contrast images, showing that such conductivity differences can be both detected and imaged. </P>
A Novel Method to Estimate the System Damping After Generator Tripping

Generator tripping strategies are generally decided by offline transient stability analysis. However, traditional methods can hardly ensure dynamic stability after GT. Simulation tests show that GT strategies change the topology and the state variables of a power system, which may weaken the system damping after GT. In order to estimate the system damping, this paper proposes a time-varying linearized model under unsteady states based on the virtual equilibrium point (VEP) theory. Then, the changes in dynamic characteristics caused by GT can be represented by the eigenvalues at VEPs before and after GT. An inertia equivalence system is mathematically formulated to analyze the effects of generator inertia, damping ratio, and controllers. Two indices are designed to estimate the system damping changes. Based on the indices, a framework is proposed to improve the current GT strategy decision-making system. The sensitivity analysis and the fault scanning verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method and indices.
Prognostic Significance of Overexpression of EZH2 and H3k27me3 Proteins in Gastric Cancer

The enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) methyl transferase and histone 3 lysine 27 (H3K27me3) protein can repress gene transcription, and their aberrant expression has been observed in various human cancers. This study determined their expression levels in gastric cancer tissues with reference to clinicopathological features and patient survival. We collected 117 gastric cancer and corresponding normal tissues for immunohistochemistry analysis. In gastric cancers, 82/117 (70.1%) were positive for EZH2 and 66/117 (56.4%) for H3K27me3 proteins in contrast to only 5.41% and 7.25% of normal gastric mucosa specimens, respectively. Kaplan-Meier survival data showed the average overall and disease-free survival of EZH2 high expression patients was 25.2 and 20.2 months, respectively, shorter than that with EZH2 low expression (40.5 and 35.9 months). The average overall survival and disease-free survival of high H3K27me3 expression patients was 23.4 and 17.4 months, shorter than without H3K27me3 expression (37.6 and 34.5 months). The average overall survival and disease-free survival of patients with both EZH2 and H3K27me3 expression was 18.8 and 12.9 months, respectively, shorter than that with either alone (34.7 and 31.2 months) or with low levels of both (43.9 and 39.9 months). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that H3K27me3 and EZH2 expression, tumor size differentiation and clinical stage were all independent prognostic factors for predicting patient survival. This study demonstrated that detection of both EZH2 and H3K27me3 proteins can predict poor survival of gastric cancer patients, superior to single protein detection. In addition, H3K27me3 and EZH2 protein expression could predict lymph node metastasis.

이 연구의 목적은 서비스 품질 및 브랜드 특성의 관점에서 Union-Pay 모바일 결제가 사용자 점도에 미치는 영향을 탐색하는 것이다. 앞으로 중국Union-Pay가 모바일결제 시장에서 안정적이고 충실한 사용자 그룹을 확보하는 것이 의미가 있다. 이 연구는 SPSS22.0 및 AMOS 통계 분석 도구를 사용하여 경험적 연구를 수행을 했다. 본 연구는 모바일 서비스 품질을 사용하고 브랜드 성격은 독립 변수이고, 사용자의 점도는 종속 변수이며, China Union-Pay 모바일 결제와 관련하여 사용자의 점도에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 연구 분석결과에 따르면, 서비스 품질이 사용자가 인식 한 가치에 유의 한 영향을 미친다는 결과 나타났다. 서비스 품질은 사용자 점도에 유의 한 양의 관계를 갖다. 인식 된 값은 사용자 점도에 유의한 양의 효과를 나타났다. 사용자에 대한 브랜드 특성이 사용자 점도에 유의한 양의 효과를 나타났다. 브랜드 성격은 사용자가 인식 한 가치에 유의 한 양의 관계 영향을 미친다. 이 연구를 통해 모바일 결제 기업의 산업 발전에 대한 제안을 했고 모바일 결제발전에 대한 더 나은 의견을 제시 하였다.
