        Literature Review and Clinical Presentation of Cervical Spondylitis Due to Salmonella Enteritidis in Immunocompetent

        A 48-year-old woman was presented to our clinic with some fever and neck pains for about one month. Based on the symptoms and results of image, an empirical diagnosis of tuberculous cervical spondylitis was made. The pain was not significantly decreased after anti-tuberculosis therapy. And, 3 weeks later, she was re-admitted to our hospital for the unbearable pain. An exploration of the C4/5 by the anterior medial approach was recommended to evaluate the germ and debridement. Bacteriological tests showed that the pathogen was Salmonella Enteritidis. The pain was relieved significantly after operation and sensitive antibiotic treatments. Infections with Salmonella Typhi or Salmonella Paratyphi have been well-documented, while there are few reports of cervical spondylitis caused by Salmonell a Enteritidis. We reported a case of a healthy woman with whom pyogenic cervical spondylitis of Salmonella Enteritidis was corroborated and treated and reviewed according to previous reports about spondylitis caused by Salmonella Enteritidis in the literature.

        Identification and characterization of BGL11(t), a novel gene regulating leaf-color mutation in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

        A novel bright-green leaf mutant, bgl11, derived from Nipponbare (Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica) treated by ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS), exhibited a distinct brightgreen leaf phenotype throughout development. Chlorophyll contents of bgl11 decreased significantly than that of its wild-type parent. Genetic analysis suggested that the brightgreen leaf trait was controlled by a single recessive nuclear gene, which was tentatively designed as BGL11(t). To isolate the BGL11(t) gene, a map-based cloning strategy was employed, and the gene was finally mapped in a 94.7 kb region between marker InDel11-5 and InDel11-9 on the long arm of chromosome 11, in which no gene leaded to leaf-color mutation had been mapped or cloned. Cloning and sequencing analysis revealed that, LOC_Os11g38040, which was predicted to encode an expressed protein, had a 9 bp segment deletion in the coding region of bgl11. Furthermore, the transgenic plants with wild-type gene LOC_Os11g38040were restored to normal phenotype. Accordingly, the gene (LOC_Os11g38040) was identified as the BGL11(t) gene. These results are very valuable for further study on BGL11(t)gene and illuminating the mechanism of chloroplast development in rice.

        Anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of curcumin analogue A2

        In the present study, we determined the antiproliferative,anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of acurcumin analogue, 2,6-bis(3,4-dihydroxybenzylidene) cyclohexanone(designated as A2). In vitro studies showed that A2had a stronger inhibitory effect on the growth of mousemacrophage RAW 264.7 cells than curcumin. A2 also showeda stronger inhibitory effect than curcumin on 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-induced increases inNF-jB activation and IL-1b expression as well as in aldosereductase activity. A2 was a stronger antioxidant than curcuminas determined by inhibition of lipid peroxidation,inhibition of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl free radical formation,and inhibition of 2,20-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical formation. In vivo studiesindicated that A2 was more potent than curcumin for inhibitingTPA-induced ear edema and TPA-induced increases inIL-1b. In addition, oral administration of A2 at a dose of2,000 mg/kg body weight did not cause acute toxicity inmice. Taken together, the results of our study indicate that thecurcumin analogue A2 has stronger anti-proliferative, antiinflammatoryand antioxidant activities than curcumin.

        A Novel Capacitive Negative Electrode Material of Fe3N

        A capacitive negative electrode material of Fe3N has been synthesized via a simple precursor ammoniation treatment. Electrochemical measure shows that the electrode exhibits a specific capacitance of 270 F · g -1 at a current density of 0.5A · g -1 in 6M KOH, 66% of the initial value remains at a specific current density of 5A · g -1. Capacitance retention after 5000 cycles is about 61.5% of the initial capacitance. The electrochemical performance is relatively great in comparison with the literature reports of some Fe-based compounds. Because of the low cost and simple preparation method of Fe3N, the material is promising in electrochemical capacitive energy storage applications.

        Bayesian forecasting approach for structure response prediction and load effect separation of a revolving auditorium

        A Bayesian dynamic linear model (BDLM) is presented for a data-driven analysis for response prediction and load effect separation of a revolving auditorium structure, where the main loads are self-weight and dead loads, temperature load, and audience load. Analyses are carried out based on the long-term monitoring data for static strains on several key members of the structure. Three improvements are introduced to the ordinary regression BDLM, which are a classificatory regression term to address the temporary audience load effect, improved inference for the variance of observation noise to be updated continuously, and component discount factors for effective load effect separation. The effects of those improvements are evaluated regarding the root mean square errors, standard deviations, and 95% confidence intervals of the predictions. Bayes factors are used for evaluating the probability distributions of the predictions, which are essential to structural condition assessments, such as outlier identification and reliability analysis. The performance of the present BDLM has been successfully verified based on the simulated data and the real data obtained from the structural health monitoring system installed on the revolving structure.

        패스트푸드 레스토랑의 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향에 있어 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프의 조절효과

        본 연구에서는 상해 지역의 패스트푸드 레스토랑 대기시간이 고객의 전환의도에 미치는 영향과 그 영향에 있어 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프의 조절효과를 실증 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 대기시간이 고객이 전환의도에 정(+) 영향을 미칠 것이라는 연구 가설1을 검정하기 위해 다중회귀분석에 의해 결과를 도출하였다. 분석결과 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보면 대기시간을 구성하는 하위변수인 실제 대기시간과 지각된 대기시간 모두 전환의도에 대해 정(+)의 방향으로 영향을 미쳤으며, 그 영향력의 크기는 실제 대기시간, 지각된 대기시간 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프의 조절효과를 알아보기 위한 가설 2의 결과로 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프의 따라 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향은 부분적으로 조절되었다. 먼저 실제 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프 중 기능성과 청결성이 조절효과를 보였다. 하지만 지각된 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 기능성과 청결성이 조절효과를 보이지 못하였는데, 2단계 모형에서 기능성과 청결성이 전환의도에 미치는 영향이 유의하게 나타나 기능성과 청결성이 조절변수가 아닌 독립변수로써 전환의도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 확인되었다. 다음으로 실제 대기시간 및 지각된 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프 중 공조환경성과 인적관계성이 모두 조절효과를 보였다. 마지막으로 다음으로 실제 대기시간 및 지각된 대기시간이 전환의도에 미치는 영향에 있어서 디자인 측면의 서비스스케이프 중 심미성과 접근성은 모두 조절효과를 보이지 못하였는데, 2단계 모형에서 심미성과 접근성이 전환의도에 미치는 영향이 유의하게 나타나 심미성과 접근성이 조절변수가 아닌 독립변수로써 전환의도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 확인되었다. Recently, the fast-food restaurants have increased rapidly. Therefore, this study aims to examine the impact of waiting time on switching intention and the moderating effect of deign servicescape in the relationship at fast-food restaurants in Shanghai, China. 327 usable questionnaires were collected from customers at fast 1food restaurants in Shanghai and analyzed by statistical methods. The results are as follows. First, multiple regression results show that sub-dimensions of waiting time positively influenced switching intention; specifically, real waiting time was more influential than perceived waiting time. Second, design servicescape partially moderated the relationship between waiting time and switching intention. More specifically, among sub-dimensions of design service scape, functionality and cleanness significantly moderated the relationship between real waiting time and switching intention, while they did not significantly moderate the relationship between perceived waiting time and switching intention but directly influenced switching intention. Third, air-conditioning and human relationship significantly moderated the relationship between waiting time and switching intention. Finally, aesthetics and accessibility did not moderate the relationship between waiting time and switching intention but directly influenced switching intention.

        In this paper, a series of PAC (polyaluminum chloride) samples were prepared for rosin neutral sizing system. Some characters of PAC were discussed in detail. The experimental results show that it is possible to achieve neutral sizing when PAC is compounded with DRS(dispersed rosin size)instead of alum (aluminum sulfate).

      • Suppression of the Epidermal Growth Factor-like Domain 7 and Inhibition of Migration and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Human Pancreatic Cancer PANC-1 Cells

        Background: Epidermal growth factor-like domain multiple 7 (EGFL7), a secreted protein specifically expressed by endothelial cells during embryogenesis, recently was identified as a critical gene in tumor metastasis. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) was found to be closely related with tumor progression. Accordingly, it is important to investigate the migration and EMT change after knock-down of EGFL7 gene expression in human pancreatic cancer cells. Materials and Methods: EGFL7 expression was firstly testified in 4 pancreatic cancer cell lines by real-time polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR) and western blot, and the highest expression of EGFL7 was found in PANC-1 cell line. Then, PANC-1 cells transfected with small interference RNA (siRNA) of EGFL7 using plasmid vector were named si-PANC-1, while transfected with negative control plasmid vector were called NC-PANC-1. Transwell assay was used to analyze the migration of PANC-1 cells. Real-time PCR and western blotting were used to detect the expression change of EGFL7 gene, EMT markers like E-Cadherin, N-Cadherin, Vimentin, Fibronectin and transcription factors like snail, slug in PANC-1, NCPANC-1, and si-PANC-1 cells, respectively. Results: After successful plasmid transfection, EGFL7 gene were dramatically knock-down by RNA interference in si-PANC-1 group. Meanwhile, migration ability decreased significantly, compared with PANC-1 and NC-PANC-1 group. Meanwhile, the expression of epithelial phenotype marker E-Cadherin increased and that of mesenchymal phenotype markers N-Cadherin, Vimentin, Fibronectin dramatically decreased in si-PANC-1 group, indicating a reversion of EMT. Also, transcription factors snail and slug decreased significantly after RNA interference. Conclusions: Current study suggested that highly-expressed EGFL7 promotes migration of PANC-1 cells and acts through transcription factors snail and slug to induce EMT, and further study is needed to confirm this issue.
