Extensive study of micro flow in rectangular channel is considered and analyzed. Numerical studies are performed by Lattice Boltzmann Method. A new combination bounce back model for the treatment of solid boundary condition is proposed. Then, three solid boundary conditions are implemented in micro rectangular channel flow. These include non-slip bounce back rule, traditional combination bounce back rule and the proposed combination bounce back rule. It is observed that the width-to-height ratio (W/H) is the major influencing parameter for rectangular micro-channel flow in low Reynolds number. And, it is also found that the drag coefficient of traditional combination bounce back rule is maximum followed by those of the proposed combination bounce back rule and non-slip bounce back rule. In non-slip bounce back rule, particles bounce back alone the opposite direction when they collide with solid boundary node and it indicates maximum drag in the macro flow. In the traditional combination bounce back rule, some particles reflect based on mirror face with non-zero tangential solid velocity. It indicates that the tangential velocity of particles is same with its original velocity. And, this leads to the minimum drag. The proposed combination bounce back velocity is somewhere in between those of bounce back rule and first combination bounce back rule.

Let {ξn} be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables. In thispaper we study the comparison for two upper tail probabilities P ∞n =1 an | ξn |p ≥ randP ∞n =1 bn | ξn |p ≥ ras r → ∞ with two different real series {an} and {bn}. The firstresult is for Gaussian random variables {ξn}, and in this case these two probabilities areequivalent after suitable scaling. The second result is for more general random variables,thus a weaker form of equivalence (namely, logarithmic level) is proved.

The mechanism of the cycloaddition reaction of forming germanic bis-heterocyclic compound between singlet dimethylgermylene carbene and acetone has been investigated with CCSD(T)//B3LYP/6-31G^* method. From the potential energy profile, it can be predicted that, this reaction has one dominant channel. The presented rule of this dominant channel is that the two reactants firstly form a four-membered ring carbene (RC4) through the [2+2] cycloaddition reaction. Due to sp^2 hybridization of carbene C atom in RC4, RC4 further combines with acetone to form a reactant complexe (RC5). Due to the further sp^3 hybridization of carbene C atom in RC4, RC5 isomerizes to a germanic bisheterocyclic compound (P6) via the transition state (TS5).

According to the tendency of incorporating fuel jet holes into swirler-vanes, as well as the advantages of wide operating boundary conditions and low NO x emissions of low swirl injectors for land-based gas turbines, an original lean premixed injector with convergent outlet was proposed in this paper. Based on the lean premixed injector, this paper presented laser diagnostic experiments and numerical simulations of flowfields and fuel/air premixing uniformities of S30 and S40. The results show that the axial size and the radial size of main recirculation zone (MRZ) of S30 are both smaller than those of S40, which can decrease residence time and is beneficial to NO x reduction for S30. Furthermore, the MRZ of S30 are far from the convergent outlet, which can produce detached flames and reduce the risk of flashback. The SMV at S40 and S30 convergent outlet are 0.0008 and 0.0002, respectively, both of which are lower than 0.001, which shows that both S30 and S40 obtain good fuel/air premixing uniformities. These results demonstrate that S30 (low swirl injectors) constitutes a promising technology for low emission gas turbine combustors.

Misuse and abuse of veterinary antimicrobial agents have led to an alarming increase in bacterial resistance, clinical treatment failure, and drug residues. To address these problems, consistent and appropriate dosage regimens for veterinary antimicrobial agents are needed. Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) models have been widely used to establish rational dosage regimens for veterinary antimicrobial agents that can achieve effective prevention and treatment of bacterial diseases and avoid the development of bacterial resistance. This review introduces building methods for PK/PD models and describes current PK/PD research progress toward rational dosage regimens for veterinary antimicrobial agents. Finally, the challenges and prospects of PK/PD models in the design of dosage regimens for veterinary antimicrobial agents are reviewed. This review will help to increase awareness of PK/PD modeling among veterinarians and hopefully promote its development and future use.

Transcriptomics and proteomics analysis of Aβ (1-42)-induced neurotoxicity

Backgrounds: β-Amyloid (Aβ) is a principal constituent of senile plaques in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and induces neuronal cell death. The molecular mechanism of how Aβ evokes neuronal cell death remains complicated, which were investigated in the present study. Methods: Using the human neuroblastoma cell line SHSY5Y, we investigated the neurotoxic effects of human β-Amyloid 1-42 (Aβ1-42) aggregates on gene expression profile and protein expression profile by using the Agilent GeneChip Human 1A (V2) Oligo MicroArray, Quantitative Real-time PCR, PF-2D and Western blot analysis. Results: Our results show that Aβ1-42 specifically influences gene and protein expression such as EGR1, eIF5A, PDE8A, ERp57 and ERp5 in pathways associated with apoptotic process, protein translation, cAMP catabolic process and response to endoplasmic reticulum stress. Conclusion: Although Genes with significant changes in transcriptomic analysis matched very few of the proteins identified in proteomics analysis, our findings will strengthen our knowledge concerning the molecular mechanisms underlying AD.
Synthesis of Carbon Nanotube-CuxO(x = 8, 64) Nanocrystal Composites

A simple, rapid and eco-friendly method has been introduced to prepare suboxide CuxO(x = 8, 64)nanocrystals on multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composites. The structural characterization by using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods indicates that CuxO(x = 8, 64) can be uniformly grown on the sidewalls of carbon nanotube under direct copper deposition at room temperature. Our results suggest that the growth method of nano-CuxO (x = 8, 64) crystals could be used to synthesize other nano-metal suboxides, such as MxO [M=metal;x = 1, 2, 4, 8 and 64]
