      • A NOVEL RATE CONTROL ALGORITHM for H.264/AVC

        Rate control has become an important part in the whole video coding scheme in order to get obtain consecutive and high quality pictures under a certain bandwidth. This paper presents a novel rate control algorithm for H.264/AVC. Instead of the traditional Mean Absolute Difference (MAD) linear prediction model, which is proposed JVT-G012, a new model is proposed including both temporal and spatial information of MAD. Because calculation complexity of the rate control part is not high comparing with other parts, such as motion estimation, this novel algorithm does not focus on reducing the calculation complexity.

      • A Study on Perceived Technology Acceptance Factors to the Continous Use Intention of Sharing Economy: Focusing on the Didi Chuxing Car Sharing Service

        The term “Sharing Economy” was first mentioned in the book ‘Remix’ by Lawrence Lessig, an American jurist professor (Lawrence Lessig, 2008). In 2008, the global financial crisis was closely watched and the sharing economy began to grow up rapidly. In particular, China has a large vehicle sharing market among the various sharing economic sectors, which attracts worldwide attention due to rapid economic growth. The Didi Chuxing vehicle sharing service, also called “Chinese Uber”, is the largest vehicle sharing service platform in China. This study will determine the effect of technology acceptance factors including perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived reliability and perceived risk, perceived value and satisfaction of Didi Chuxing vehicle sharing service, in addition, this study also examines the causal relationship between perceived value, satisfaction, and continuous use intention.

        A Many-objective Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm Based on Multiple Criteria for Hybrid Recommendation System

        Nowadays, recommendation systems (RSs) are applied to all aspects of online life. In order to overcome the problem that individuals who do not meet the constraints need to be regenerated when the many-objective evolutionary algorithm (MaOEA) solves the hybrid recommendation model, this paper proposes a many-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm based on multiple criteria (MaPSO-MC). A generation-based fitness evaluation strategy with diversity enhancement (GBFE-DE) and ISDE+ are coupled to comprehensively evaluate individual performance. At the same time, according to the characteristics of the model, the regional optimization has an impact on the individual update, and a many-objective evolutionary strategy based on bacterial foraging (MaBF) is used to improve the algorithm search speed. Experimental results prove that this algorithm has excellent convergence and diversity, and can produce accurate, diverse, novel and high coverage recommendations when solving recommendation models.

        A Continuous Regional Current-Voltage Model for Short-channel Double-gate MOSFETs

        A continuous, explicit drain-current equation for short-channel double-gate (DG) MOSFETs has been derived based on the explicit surface potential equation. The model is physically derived from Poisson’s equation in each region of operation and adopted in the unified regional approach. The proposed model has been verified with numerical solutions, physically scalable with channel length and gate/oxide materials as well as oxide/channel thicknesses.

      • Identification of a Novel Human Zinc Finger Gene, ZNF438, with Transcription Inhibition Activity

        There were many different families of zinc finger proteins that contained multiple cysteine and/or histidine residues and used zinc to stabilize their folds. The classical C2H2 zinc finger proteins were the founding members of this superfamily and were among the most abundant proteins in eukaryotic genomes. C2H2 proteins typically contained several C2H2 fingers that made tandem contacts along the DNA. Here we reported a novel C2H2 type zinc finger gene, ZNF438, which encoded 828 amino acids that formed five zinc finger domains. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the ZNF438 was mapped to human chromosome 10p11.2 and shared 62% identity with rat and mouse homologues. RT-PCR analysis indicated that it was ubiquitously expressed in 18 human adult tissues. With immunofluorescence assay, it was shown that the exogenous Flag-tagged ZNF438 was located in nucleus of COS-7 cells. To further explore the function of ZNF438, we examined the transcriptional activity of ZNF438 protein by transfecting recombinant pM-ZNF438 into mammalian cells. The subsequent analysis based on the duel luciferase assay system showed that ZNF438 was a transcriptional repressor.

        Examination of the Effects of Temperature and Pressure on Lipoxygenase Activities in Pork Using Response Surface Methodology

        To investigate the effects of pressure and temperature on lipoxygenase (LOX) in meat, changes in LOX activities in minced pork and in crude enzyme extracts under different conditions of pressure (131.82- 468.18 MPa), temperature (23.18-56.82oC), and duration (6.59-23.41 min) were evaluated using response surface methodology. LOX activities in extracts exhibited a decrease with an increasing treatment temperature, pressure, or duration. Each of these factors alone had a significant (p<0.05) effect on LOX activities. Activation of LOX in most minced pork treated at less than 400 MPa was observed. Treatment pressure and temperature, and interactions between pressure and temperature and between duration and pressure, significantly (p<0.05) affected LOX activities. LOX showed higher stability in muscles than in extracts during combined pressure-heat treatments. The most important factor affecting LOX was treatment temperature for extracts and treatment pressure for muscles.

        Silica nanoparticles as a high-performance filtrate reducer for foam fluid in porous media

        During the fracturing operations for oils and gases, not only the oil and gas reservoirs, but also the nearbycivil aquifers are often polluted by the invasion of fracturing fluid filtrates. In this study, we investigatedthe potential of silica nanoparticles as a high-performance filtrate reducer for a foam fluid in a porousmedia. First, the three factors affecting filtration reduction using nanoparticles, i.e., surface rheology,foam slipping, and foam stability, were described. Then, the foam filtration through a porous media inthe core was measured using a dynamic fluid-loss device, and the effects of foam quality, pressure drop,and core permeability on the performance of the filtrate reducer were evaluated. The difficulty ofbubbles flowing from a throat to a pore in a porous media was described by resistance gradientcoefficient Cf, which is a combination of surface tension and viscoelastic modulus and increases byadding nanoparticles. Nanoparticles improve the roughness of the SiO2/sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate foam film surface, thus increasing the slipping resistance Fslip when foams flowon the wall of athroat in a porous media. For the foams in a porous media, the diffusion of bubbles decreased in thepresence of nanoparticles, and the growth rate of gas bubble size also decreased, thus increasing thefoam resistance to gas channeling. The results of core filtration tests indicate that the fluid-loss-controlproperties increased with foam quality ranging from 0 to 85%, and the negative effects of pressure dropand permeability increase to foam filtration were weakened by adding SiO2 nanoparticles. Thus, silicananoparticles can be used as a high-performance filtrate reducer for a foam fluid in a porous media.

      • Effects of acidic and neutral biochars on properties and cadmium retention of soils

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, an acidic biochar and a neutral biochar were applied at 5 wt% into two soils for an 11-month incubation experiment. One Ferrosol soil (Ba) was slightly acidic with low organic matter and the other Dermosol soil (Mt) was slightly alkaline with high organic matter. The acidic (pH = 3.25) wood shaving (WS) biochar had no marked impact on nutrient levels, cation exchange capacity (CEC), pH and acid neutralization capacity (ANC) of either soil. By contrast, the neutral (pH = 7.00) chicken litter (CL) biochar significantly increased major soluble nutrients, pH, ANC of soil Ba. In terms of C storage, 87.9% and 69.5% WS biochar-C can be sequestrated as TOC by soil Ba and Mt, respectively, whereas only 24.0% of CL biochar-C stored in soil Ba and negligible amount in Mt as TOC. Biochars did not have significant effects on soil sorption capacity and sorption reversibility except that CL biochar increased sorption of soil Ba by around 25.4% and decreased desorption by around 50.0%. Overall, the studied acidic C rich WS biochar held little agricultural or remedial values but was favourable for C sequestration. The neutral mineral rich CL biochar may provide short-term agricultural benefit and certain sorption capacities of lower sorption capacity soils, but may be unlikely to result in heightened C sequestration in soils. This is the first study comprehensively examining functions of acidic and neutral biochars for their benefits as a soil amendment and suggests the importance of pre-testing biochars for target purposes prior to their large scale production.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The C rich acidic biochar did not work for nutrients supply or Cd retention but helped in storing C. </LI> <LI> The neutral mineral rich biochar enhanced nutrient and sorption for some soils. </LI> <LI> Neutral mineral rich biochar hardly increased soil C after 11 months. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Combined Effects of High-pressure and Thermal Treatments on Lipid Oxidation and Enzymes in Pork

        The relationship between lipid oxidation and related enzymes in pork during combined pressure-heat treatments was investigated. Minced pork was treated under a pressure range of 0.1- 750 MPa and a temperature range of 30-60oC for 20 min. Thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) values and activities of acid lipase (AL), neutral lipase (NL), phospholipase (PL), and lipoxygenase (LOX) in pork were evaluated. NL and LOX were completely inactivated at 600 MPa-50oC and 450 MPa-60oC, and AL at 600MPa-55oC. PL had the greatest stability and was completely inactivated at 600 MPa-60oC and 750 MPa-50oC. PL activity was strongly related to lipid oxidation caused by high pressure, followed by AL and LOX. TBARS values at 600 and 750 MPa were strongly related to the inactivation rate and the ratio of PL during treatment. PL was the most important enzyme related to lipid oxidation induced by pressure.

        Allyl isothiocyanate may reverse the expression of MRP1 in COPD rats via the Notch1 signaling pathway

        In the present study, the roles of AITC in upregulatingthe MRP1 expression and its relationship with theactivation of the Notch1 signaling pathway were investigatedby combining the in vivo and in vitro experiments. AITCwas administered to the COPD model rats and normal ratsto explore the association between Notch1 and MRP1. Thehuman bronchial epithelial cells were treated with DAPT,the Notch1 signaling pathway inhibitor, to verify the effectof Notch1 on the expression of AITC-induced MRP1. Comparedwith the control group, the expressions of Notch1,Hes1 (the target gene of Notch1) and MRP1 in the lung tissueof the COPD model group were significantly inhibited. In contrast to the COPD model group, the expressions ofMRP1, Hes1 and Notch1 dramatically up-regulated followingthe treatment with Low/High doses of AITC. The expressionof MRP1 in the 16 HBE cells was down-regulated bythe inhibition of Notch in a DAPT concentration-dependentmanner. Additionally, the AITC-induced up-regulation ofthe MRP1 expression was markedly impaired following the inhibition of Notch1. The above results indicated that thepulmonary function and the expression of MRP1 in COPDrats could be improved by AITC, which was partly dependenton the Notch1 signaling pathway. Therefore, targetingthe Notch signaling pathway may present as an effectivetherapeutic strategy for COPD treatment.
