In this article, the thermo-mechanical characterization of poly(butylene terephthalate)/poly(tetramethylene oxide) (PBT/PTMO) is studied by thermal analysis, dynamic mechanical analysis, and uniaxial tensile tests. The results of poly(ether esters) show that the melting temperature is equal to Tm=193 oC, which is 31 oC, lower than that of the melting temperature of poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT). Its glass transition temperature, Tg is equal to -61 oC, determined by DMA. The melting and cooling temperatures (Tm, Tc) after aging at T0+48 h and T0+week are virtually unchanged. Moreover, the results of the tensile tests show that the effect of the low deformation rate reduces the friction resulting from the sliding mechanisms between the amorphous and crystalline parts.

Evaluation Subgroups of Mapping Spaces over Grassmann Manifolds

Let Vk,n (C) denote the complex Steifel and Grk,n (C) the Grassmann mani folds for 1 ≤ k < n. In this paper, we compute, in terms of the Sullivan minimal models, the evaluation subgroups and, more generally, the relative evaluation subgroups of the fibration p : Vk,k+n (C) → Grk,k+n (C). In particular, we prove that G∗ (Grk,k+n (C), Vk,k+n (C) ; p) is isomorphic to G rel ∗ (Grk,k+n (C), Vk,k+n (C) ; p) ⊕ G∗ (Vk,k+n (C)).

On the rational cohomology of mapping spaces and their realization problem

Let $f:X\rightarrow Y$ be a map between simply connected CW-complexes of finite type with $X$ finite. In this paper, we prove that the rational cohomology of mapping spaces map$(X,Y;f)$ contains a polynomial algebra over a generator of degree $N$, where $ N= $ max$ \lbrace i, \pi_{i }(Y)\otimes \mathbb{Q}\neq 0 \rbrace$ is an even number. Moreover, we are interested in determining the rational homotopy type of map$\left( \mathbb{S}^{n}, \mathbb{C} P^{m};f\right) $ and we deduce its rational cohomology as a consequence. The paper ends with a brief discussion about the realization problem of mapping spaces.

Termite Resistance of The Less Known Tropical Woods Species Grown in West Java, Indonesia1

This research focused on the natural durability of twenty one lesser known tropical wood species planted in West Java, Indonesia against subterranean termite (Coptotermes curvignathus). It was observed that both heartwood and sapwood of Kiara payung (Filicium decipiens); heartwoods of Nangka (Arthocarpus heterophyllus), Mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla) and Simpur (Dillenia grandifolia); and sapwood of Bungur (Lagerstroemia speciosa) were rated as resistant (natural durability classⅡ) according to Indonesian standard SNI 01.7207.2006 (BSN 2006). Both heartwood and sapwood of Salam (Syzigium polyanthum), Pasang (Lithocarpus sundaicus), Bisbul (Diospyros discolor), Rukam (Flacourtia rukam) and Trembesi (Samanea saman); heartwood of Puspa (Schima walichii), Bungur, Tanjung (Mimusops elangi) and Angsana (Pterocarpus indicus) were rated as moderately resistant (natural durability classⅢ). Both heartwood and sapwood of Sungkai (Peronema canescens), Pine (Pinus merkusii), Mangium (Acacia mangium) and Afrika (Maesopsis eminii); sapwoods of Mahoni, Puspa and Tanjung were rated as poorly resistant (natural durability class Ⅳ). Both heartwood and sapwood of Agathis (Agathis dammara), Durian (Durio zibethinus), Ki sampang (Evodia latifolia) and Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba); sapwoods of Nangka and Angsana were rated as very poorly resistant (natural durability class Ⅴ). This reserach showed that woods with lower resistance against C. curvignathus attack (natural durability class Ⅳ and Ⅴ) tend to have lower termite mortality values compared to woods with higher resistance against C. curvignathus attack (natural durability class Ⅱ and Ⅲ). Results of the study will provide some valuable information on termite resistance of twenty one lesser known tropical wood species planted in Indonesia.

Perceptions of Islamic banking products: Evidence from Malaysia

Purpose: Islamic banking products and services have always claimed to be unique from its traditional interest-based counterpart. However, in practice, many Islamic banks are alleged to have drifted away from its paradigm version. The purpose of this study is to gauge the perception of university students in Malaysia towards Islamic banking products. Research design, data and methodology: Data were collected from 250 Malaysian university students. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was performed to test proposed hypotheses to identify factors influencing customers‘ perception toward Islamic banking products. Results: The main finding indicates that most of the respondents are familiar with Islamic banking products and consider Islamic banking products as useful as it s conventional counterparts. The regression results show that respondents are less convinced of adherence to Shari‘ah, efficiency and helpfulness of existing Islamic banks. Conclusions: This is a cue to the Islamic banks‘ stakeholders that they need to realign their practices in an ethically responsible way in accordance with Shari‘ah if they wish to secure existing customers and attract potential ones. In a competitive banking environment, most banks provide efficient and readily available service; thus, focusing on this as a strategy hardly distinguishes an Islamic bank from an interest-based bank

Issues relating to business inheritance are a primary focus for business owners. Business inheritance is critical to ensuring that the business can be managed by the next generation and family members can benefit from the earnings and revenues. Therefore, preliminary planning must be done while the business owner is still alive by selecting the appropriate business inheritance mechanism for Muslims in Malaysia. The mechanisms of business inheritance, notably faraid, hibah, amanah, and hibah amanah will be examined in this paper from both a civil and Islamic perspective. By reviewing written journals and previous research, this research utilizes the library method. According to this study, business succession can be carried out by naming a beneficiary as a partner in the company or by completing the ownership transfer process while the owner is still living. In the other situation, it can be done by anyone among the heirs agreeing to re-register the business as usual. Meanwhile, there are four main instruments in Islamic law that can be used: faraid, hibah, amanah, and commercial hibah. According to this study, each instrument has a different impact on business succession. Entrepreneurs should use these instruments in their firm succession planning.
