This work aims at proposing a transfer learning (TL)-based framework to enhance system scalability of fingerprint-based indoor localization by reducing offline training overhead without jeopardizing the localization accuracy. The basic principle is to reshape data distributions in the target domain based on the transferred knowledge from the source domains, so that those data belonging to the same cluster will be logically closer to each other, whereas others will be further apart from each other. Specifically, the TL-based framework consists of two parts, metric learning and metric transfer, which are used to learn the distance metrics from source domains and identify the most suitable metric for the target domain, respectively. Furthermore, this work implements a prototype of the fingerprint-based indoor localization system with the proposed TL-based framework embedded. Finally, extensive real-world experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and the generality of the TL-based framework.

The endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is known to be involved in the transformation of vascular endothelial cells to mesenchymal cells. EndMT has been confirmed that occur in various pathologic conditions. Transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) is a potent stimulator of the vascular endothelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). Aspirin-triggered resolvin D1 (ATRvD1) has been known to be involved in the resolution of inflammation, but whether it has effects on TGF-β1-induced EndMT is not yet clear. Therefore, we investigated the effects of AT-RvD1 on the EndMT of human umbilical vein vascular endothelial cells line (HUVECs). Treatment with TGF-β1 reduced the expression of Nrf2 and enhanced the level of F-actin, which is associated with paracellular permeability. The expression of endothelial marker VE-cadherin in HUVEC cells was reduced, and the expression of mesenchymal marker vimentin was enhanced. AT-RvD1 restored the expression of Nrf2 and vimentin and enhanced the expression of VE-cadherin. AT-RvD1 did also affect the migration of HUVEC cells. Inhibitory κB kinase 16 (IKK 16), which is known to inhibit the NF-κB pathway, had an ability to increase the expression of Nrf2 and was associated with the inhibition effect of AT-RvD1 on TGF-β1-induced EndMT, but it had no effect on TGF-β1-induced EndMT alone. Smad7, which is a key regulator of TGF-β/Smads signaling by negative feedback loops, was significantly increased with the treatment of AT-RvD1. These results suggest the possibility that AT-RvD1 suppresses the TGF-β1-induced EndMT through increasing the expression of Smad7 and is closely related to oxidative stress.

The endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is known to be involved in the transformation of vascular endothelial cells to mesenchymal cells. EndMT has been confirmed that occur in various pathologic conditions. Transforming growth factor ${\beta}1$ (TGF-${\beta}1$) is a potent stimulator of the vascular endothelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). Aspirin-triggered resolvin D1 (AT-RvD1) has been known to be involved in the resolution of inflammation, but whether it has effects on TGF-${\beta}1$-induced EndMT is not yet clear. Therefore, we investigated the effects of AT-RvD1 on the EndMT of human umbilical vein vascular endothelial cells line (HUVECs). Treatment with TGF-${\beta}1$ reduced the expression of Nrf2 and enhanced the level of F-actin, which is associated with paracellular permeability. AT-RvD1 restored the expression of Nrf2 and vimentin and enhanced the expression of VE-cadherin. AT-RvD1 did also affect the migration of HUVEC cells. Inhibitory ${\kappa}B$ kinase 16 (IKK 16), which is known to inhibit the NF-${\kappa}B$ pathway, had an ability to increase the expression of Nrf2 and was associated with the inhibition effect of AT-RvD1 on TGF-${\beta}1$-induced EndMT, but it had no effect on TGF-${\beta}1$-induced EndMT alone. Smad7, which is a key regulator of TGF-${\beta}$/Smads signaling by negative feedback loops, was significantly increased with the treatment of AT-RvD1. These results suggest the possibility that AT-RvD1 suppresses the TGF-${\beta}1$-induced EndMT through increasing the expression of Smad7 and is closely related to oxidative stress.
Parallel Generation of Medial Axis for Solid Models
Housheng Zhu,Yusheng Liu (사)한국CDE학회 2013 한국CAD/CAM학회 국제학술발표 논문집 Vol.2010 No.8
Efficient generation of medial axis (MA) is still a great challenge for complicated solid models. In this study, a novel parallel method is proposed to generate MA of solid models with freeform surfaces efficiently after it is voxelized. Firstly, the input solid model is voxelized and divided into several blocks with nearly the same size. Then, the local MA voxels are calculated for each block based distance dilation method. Thirdly, the influence between different blocks is considered deliberately with the boundary information (BI) of other blocks to enable the local MA voxels to become a correct MA part of the whole model by complete inter-dilation (CID). Finally, Those MA voxels are combined and refined to become the resultant MA of the input model. The last three main processes can all be conducted efficiently in parallel. Several groups of experiments are given to illustrate the outperformance of the proposed method.

Zircon grains separated from a granitic gneiss boulder of the Hwanggangri Formation, Ogcheon metamorphic belt, were analyzed using a SHRIMP II ion microprobe. This gravelbearing formation consists primarily of greenschist to amphibolite facies metadiamictites. U−Pb zircon ages obtained from 31 grains provide not only diachronous inheritance ages ranging up to ca. 2.5 Ga but also define an apparent discordia with upper and lower intercept ages of ca. 1.87 Ga and ca. 290±40 Ma, respectively. The former age is consistent with the Paleoproterozoic age of granulite- facies metamorphism and granitic magmatism in the Gyeonggi and Yeongnam massifs. However, the latter age has not been reported from the basement gneisses and may be attributable to significant Pb loss during the Late Carboniferous Ogcheon orogeny recently dated at ca. 290−280 Ma. Alternatively, multiple Pb loss episodes including a ca. 400 Ma thermal disturbance may account for the array of discordant data. The tectonic implications for each hypothesis are enormous for deciphering the evolution of the Ogcheon belt, but precise interpretation awaits further geochronologic analyses.
Study on Wear Prediction of Shield Disc Cutter in Hard Rock and Its Application
Zhenyong Wang,Chenglong Liu,Yusheng Jiang,Linwei Dong,Shixian Wang 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.3
It is important to enable the prediction of disc cutter wear during shield tunnelling through hard rock because such wear is associated with project delays and increased costs. Based on a theoretical analysis of Archard’s wear mechanism and Euler’s rotation theorem, a displacement equation of rock-breaking point A on the disc cutter ring is studied, and then a new wear prediction model is established combined with the theoretical analysis of the disc cutter force and wear test. The cutter wear prediction model is verified by using the data of two cases, and the results reveal that the errors between measured and predicted values are less than 25%. The research results also show that abrasive wear is the main wear mechanism (approximately 88%). In addition, the influence of fatigue wear is very small, accounting for only approximately 2%, which can be ignored. Finally, the maximum tunneling distance of disc cutters under different installation radii and penetration is studied using the model, and the results can be used as references for optimizing shield tunneling parameters and predicting the disc cutter replacement time.

Standard endovascular repair of iliac/aortoiliac pathologies can lead to complications, such as buttock claudication, colon ischemia anderectile dysfunction. Branch grafts have been developed but require at least 6 weeks for customization and are not currently available inChina; they are also quite expensive. To our knowledge, modified fenestrated stent grafts (MFSGs) are a safe and effective alternative fortreating patients with juxtarenal aneurysms. Most MFSGs are used for the preservation of renal and left subclavian arteries. Few cases ofMFSGs have been reported in the treatment of iliac pathologies. The use of an MFSG is decided on a case-by-case basis. This reportpresents our first clinical use of an MFSG for preservation of the internal iliac artery.
