Human factors of UHD viewing experiences for two different age groups
Park, YungKyung,Kim, YoonJung,Park, Daeun The Korean Infomation Display Society 2018 Journal of information display Vol.19 No.1
In an attempt to contribute to the development of ultra-high-definition (UHD) TV viewing guidelines, the factors that may affect the image quality and visual comfort for both the adult and elderly groups were considered: viewing distance (2H, 4H, and 6H), surrounding environment (illuminance levels 0.6 and 250 lx), video content (day and night, high and low speed), and resolution (UHD and full HD). It was found that the surrounding viewing conditions affected the visual comfort of the adult group more than that of the elderly group. The young adults felt more comfortable visually watching TV in an illuminated room than in a dark room. It was also found that the higher resolution ensures satisfactory visual quality despite the deviations in the viewing distance. With the UHD resolution, the viewing distance was the most significant factor contributing to the image quality and visual comfort for both age groups. Therefore, 'visual comfort distance' was recommended considering each human factor variable for the optimal UHD TV viewing experience.
Study on the warm-cool sense of the textile material and color
Jiyeon Oh,Yungkyung Park 한국색채학회 2017 AIC 2017 Jeju Vol.2017 No.10
Owing to the various materials, sizes and shapes of textile materials, visual sensibility may differ depending on the difference in the material of clothes. Above all, visual perception in clothing can be influenced by color. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the warm-cool sense of textile material and the warm-cool sense of warm tones and cool tones used in personal color. Three kinds of textile materials with different warm-cool senses, and 10 colors of red, pink, yellow, green, and blue were selected as cool and warm colors. As a result of the study, the textile material with higher warm-cool sense felt warmer, and the cooler color and warmer color were perceived as having different warm-cool sense depending on the textile material. However, in the case of blue, it does not feel the emotional perception of warmth, and it can be seen that the warm-cool color sense is inherent to blue regardless of the warm-cool sense of the textile material. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that research on the relationship between the warm-cool sense of blue and the textile material with more various warm-cool senses can persist.
Korean’s Association Color of Europe · Asia · North America
Eunhye Seo,YungKyung Park 한국색채학회 2017 AIC 2017 Jeju Vol.2017 No.10
Just as you can classify regions by country and city, you can also categorize regions by continent. Therefore, there will be a common color characteristic of the continent that is differentiated from other continents by continent. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the continents are forming color features of each continent by analyzing the associative colors of the three continents of Europe, Asia, and North America located on similar latitudes. As a result of the study, different color characteristics of each continent appeared, and color characteristics and differentiated color characteristics among the three continents also appeared. Europe has emerged as the continent with the largest number of colors, with the most varied color distribution. In Europe and North America, overlapping hue areas appeared in Dull tones, and Asia showed color features differentiated by Strong and Vivid. This study is expected to be the basic data for the follow-up study on color characteristics of each continent.
Assessing on the Perceived Extension According to the Brightness Composition of Space
EunJi Han,YungKyung Park 한국색채학회 2017 AIC 2017 Jeju Vol.2017 No.10
The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent of visual extension to the sense of expansion according to the spatial composition of light. A questionnaire was presented to show the space perspective composed of lightness on walls, ceiling, and floor as stimuli, and the degree of visually enlarging feeling according to composition was ranked. As a result of the analysis, the results of the questionnaire analysis show that the walls are gray color from the top 1 to 7 in the results of the survey, and that the wall-ceiling and the wall-bottom brightness are high when the difference is 45 or less. In all of the cases except for the third rank, the brightness of the wall-ceiling-bottom floor was lower than that of the wall-ceiling-bottom floor, and it was found that when the color of wall-ceiling, wall-floor, wall-ceiling-floor is the same, a high expansion feeling appears. When the lightness composition of the space is composed of a single lightness, the degree of expansion feeling felt when the wall-ceiling-bottom is gray color is the highest, and when the lightness composition of the space is the composition of the light color, the degree of expansion was the highest. When the lightness composition of the space is composed of tricolor lightness, the highest rank is when the wall-ceiling-bottom is gray-white-black, respectively. Through this study, it was found that the influence of the composition of brightness in the evaluation of the extent of extension was found. Based on this analysis, it was concluded that the importance of the composition of the color among the elements of color should be recognized in recognizing the visual extension.
