        White-light crosslinkable milk protein bioadhesive with ultrafast gelation for first-aid wound treatment

        Background : Post-traumatic massive hemorrhage demands immediately available first-aid supplies with reduced operation time and good surgical compliance. In-situ crosslinking gels that are flexibly adapting to the wound shape have a promising potential, but it is still hard to achieve fast gelation, on-demand adhesion, and wide feasibility at the same time. Methods : A white-light crosslinkable natural milk-derived casein hydrogel bioadhesive is presented for the first time. Benefiting from abundant tyrosine residues, casein hydrogel bioadhesive was synthesized by forming di-tyrosine bonds under white light with a ruthenium-based catalyst. We firstly optimized the concentration of proteins and initiators to achieve faster gelation and higher mechanical strength. Then, we examined the degradation, cytotoxicity, tissue adhesion, hemostasis, and wound healing ability of the casein hydrogels to study their potential to be used as bioadhesives. Result : Rapid gelation of casein hydrogel is initiated with an outdoor flashlight, a cellphone flashlight, or an endoscopy lamp, which facilitates its usage during first-aid and minimally invasive operations. The rapid gelation enables 3D printing of the casein hydrogel and excellent hemostasis even during liver hemorrhage due to section injury. The covalent binding between casein and tissue enables robust adhesion which can withstand more than 180 mmHg blood pressure. Moreover, the casein-based hydrogel can facilitate post-traumatic wound healing caused by trauma due to its biocompatibility. Conclusion : Casein-based bioadhesives developed in this study pave a way for broad and practical application in emergency wound management.

        PVDF Hollow Fiber Formation via Modified NIPS Method: Evolution Elucidation of Phase Separation Mechanism, Structure and Properties of Membrane with Coagulation Strength Varied

        In this work, hollow fiber membrane was prepared from poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/triethyl phosphate(TEP)/water systems by modified non-solvent induced phase separation technique (mNIPS), which was characterizedin the process with relative high polymer content of 30 wt% in spinning dope. The ternary phase diagramand precipitation rate were determined to elucidate the various membrane formation mechanisms, and the membranesmorphologies were observed by field emission scanning electronic microscopy (FESEM). It was indicatedthat the phase separation mechanism was found to heavily depend on the bath strength. Although the solid-liquiddemixing process initiated the precipitation process, by changing the bath gradually from pure water to 40% TEP,the liquid-liquid demixing occurred earlier and earlier. Accordingly the top surface morphologies evolved from adense skin (asymmetric membrane) to a totally porous morphology (symmetric membrane). In addition, the permeability,maximum stress at break, medium pore size and porosity of hollow fiber membranes were also investigated. In conclusion, the successful application of modified non-solvent induced phase separation (mNIPS) may providean effective route to improve the membrane structure modulation.

        《紅樓夢》韓國現代譯本中對專有名詞的飜譯初探

        本文以『紅樓夢』現代韓文完譯本即崔容澈,高旼喜譯本和洪尚勳譯本爲研究對象分析了譯本對。『紅樓夢』中的專有名詞的飜譯。因爲專有名詞作爲文化負載詞,通過專有名詞的飜譯分析可以知道韓譯本對中國紅樓夢及其對中國文化要素的解讀。在專有名詞飜譯上分析了飜譯策略即飜譯特點。飜譯策略根據艾克西拉所提到的文化要素飜譯的11種策略,具體舉例說明了飜譯策略的運用及處理。從而導出韓譯本的四個特征。即體現韓國現代文體的飜譯特征,還有忠於原文的飜譯,通過飜譯策略解析對中國文化要素的解讀。最後還通過兩個譯本對專有名詞飜譯的特點分析出崔高本是注重紅學學術的飜譯,而洪本是注重中國文化解讀的一種飜譯。 A Dream of Red Mansions is the crystallization of the traditional culture of the China, and its contents are all-encompassing. It can be said that it is an encyclopedia. Since the advent of A Dream of Red Mansions, it has been translated by many translators. After the spread of “Dream of Red Mansions” to South Korea, at the end of the 19th century, the worlds first completed translation - Nakseonjaebon Dream of Red Mansions appeared. To date, the translation has been published in several forms in the form of a newspaper serial or a single book. The selected analysis object of this paper is Choeyongcheol-Gominhee’s translation, Hong Shanghon’s translation. Focus on the analysis of proper noun translation methods. As a cultural load, proper nouns not only have the function of naming, but also reflect the culture of that country. The proper nouns in A Dream of Red Mansions hide the special meaning of the author’s character or thing, and the proper nouns reflect the background and culture of the era of name. Therefore, through the study of the characteristics and strategies of proper noun translation, we can also explore the translation of the entire “Dream of Red Mansions” so that we can also find more translation methods of proper nouns. This article divides the proper nouns in “Dream of Red Mansions” into four categories, namely: names of people, places, literary works and poetry names, festivals and festivals. According to the translation strategy of Aixelá, the translation characteristics of the Korean translation of A Dream of Red Mansions are analyzed. It is discussed how the translator uses the translation strategy to transfer the translated information to make the readers understand.

        An Improved Density-Based Design Method of Additive Manufacturing Fabricated Inhomogeneous Cellular-Solid Structures

        Benefited from the rapid development of additive manufacturing (AM), inhomogeneous cellular structures have attracted many interests for their superior structural and functional performance. Recently proposed density-based design methods have been shown to provide great computational efficiency and obtain structures with excellent performance. To achieve better structural performance while considering AM constraints, an improved density-based design method which introduces solid and void units into the design domain is proposed in this paper. First, based on homogenization theory and solid-body analysis, unit parameters of different preset unit relative densities are determined. And a unit effective property interpolation model is constructed. Then, the macro relative density layout is optimized with density methods. In the optimization process, an efficient density filter is proposed to increase the optimization domain and satisfy minimal feature size constraint. Finally, the structure reconstruction algorithm automatically constructs the optimized cellular structure based on the unit and density information obtained in the first two processes. Numerical examples show that the proposed method efficiently obtains inhomogeneous cellular structures with better performance, compared with existing density-based methods.

      • Control Based Reduction of Detent Force for Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor

        The detent force of the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is caused by the interaction between the permanent magnet and the iron core of the mover without input current. It is a function of the mover position relative to the stator. This paper proposes a control based method to reduce the detent force for the PMLSM. This detent force that can be predicted by finite element method (FEM) is compensated by injecting the instantaneous current using the field oriented control (FOC) method. Both the simulated and experimental results are reported to validate the effectiveness of this proposed method.

      • Potential Mechanisms of Benzyl Isothiocyanate Suppression of Invasion and Angiogenesis by the U87MG Human Glioma Cell Line

        Glioma is one of the most common tumors in China and chemotherapy is critical for its treatment. Recent studies showed that benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC) could inhibit the growth of glioma cells, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. This study explored the inhibitory effect of BITC on invasion and angiogenesis of U87MG human glioma cells in vitro and in vivo, as well as potential mechanisms. It was found that BITC could inhibit invasion and angiogenesis of human glioma U87MG cells by inducing cell cycle arrest at phase G2/M. It also was demonstrated that BITC decreased expression of cyclin B1, p21, MMP-2/9, VE-cadherin, CD44, CXCR4 and MTH1, the activity of the telomerase and $PKC{\zeta}$ pathway. Microarray analysis was thus useful to explore the potential target genes related to tumorigenic processes. BITC may play important roles in the inhibition of invasion and angiogenesis of human glioma cells.

      • Knockdown of MDR1 Increases the Sensitivity to Adriamycin in Drug Resistant Gastric Cancer Cells

        Gastric cancer is one of the most frequently occurring malignancies in the world. Development of multiple drug resistance (MDR) to chemotherapy is known as the major cause of treatment failure for gastric cancer. Multiple drug resistance 1/P-glycoprotein (MDR1/p-gp) contributes to drug resistance via ATP-dependent drug efflux pumps and is overexpressed in many solid tumors including gastric cancer. To investigate the role of MDR1 knockdown on drug resistance reversal, we knocked down MDR1 expression using shRNA in drug resistant gastric cancer cells and examined the consequences with regard to adriamycin (ADR) accumulation and drug-sensitivity. Two shRNAs efficiently inhibited mRNA and protein expression of MDR1 in SGC7901-MDR1 cells. MDR1 knockdown obviously decreased the ADR accumulation in cells and increased the sensitivity to ADR treatment. Together, our results revealed a crucial role of MDR1 in drug resistance and confirmed that MDR1 knockdown could reverse this phenotype in gastric cancer cells.

        Genetic Status of ESR Locus and Other Unidentified Genes As sociated with Litter Size in Chinese Indigenous Tongcheng Pig Breed after a Long Time Selection

        The Tongcheng pig breed is a famous Chinese indigenous breed. The Ministry of Agriculture of China has filed it as 1 of 19 national key conservation breeds selected from more than 100 Chinese indigenous pig breeds in 2000. In order to improve the reproductive performance, it has been intensively selected to increase the litter size for about 10 years. The population randomly sampled from conservation nucleus of eight families in the Tongcheng pigs was genotyped for identification of their estrogen receptor locus polymorphisms with the PCR-RFLPs method. Only AB heterozygotes and BB homozygotes were detected, and $X^2$ test demonstrated that the locus was in disequilibrium at a significant level (p<0.05). In the present paper, the litter sizes in different parities were regarded as different traits. Holistic status of other unspecific and unidentified genes was estimated by using the statistical methods. Coefficients of kurtosis and skewness showed that the litter size still presented segregating characteristic in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th parities. Analysis of homogeneity of variance between families confirmed the results for the 5th, 7th and 8th parities. The heritability of litter size for the 1st to 10th parities was estimated with paternal half-sib model and individual estimated breeding values (EBVs) were evaluated by a single trait animal model as well. We found that the averages of EBVs for litter size in each parity did not differ significantly between genotypes, despite the significant difference for original phenotype records in the 3rd, 4th and 5th parities (p<0.05 or p<0.01). The results may be explained by the deduction that the polymorphisms of ESR locus are no longer the important genetic base of litter size variation when the frequency of allele B accumulated in the experience of selection procedure, and further conferring that there exist special genes associated with litter size in the recent Tongcheng pigs population can be made.

        Motives for Empathy among Clinical Nurses in China: A Qualitative Study

        Purpose: This study aimed to explore the motives of clinical nurses for experiencing empathy with patients and their families based on a self-determination theory framework. Methods: Semi-structured face-to-face interviews with twenty-one nurses at four tertiary hospitals in Anhui, China, were conducted, recorded and transcribed. A content analysis with a directed approach was performed. Results: An analysis of the interview transcripts revealed three categories of empathy motivation: autonomous motivation, controlled motivation and a lack of empathy motivation. Autonomous motivation included personal interests, enjoyment and a sense of value, pure altruism, assimilation, and recognition of the importance of empathy. Controlled motivation highlighted pressures from oneself and others, the possibility of tangible or intangible rewards, and avoidance of adverse effects. Finally, a lack of empathy motivation referred to a lack of intention for empathy and denial of the value of empathy. Conclusion: This study provides a deep understanding of the motives underlying empathy in nurses. The results reveal the reasons for empathy and may support the development of effective strategies to foster and promote empathy in nurses.

        Synthesis, Structures and Photoluminescent Properties of Two Novel Zinc(II) Compounds Constructed from 5-Sulfoisophthalic Acid

        Hydrothermal reaction of zinc(II) salts with 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt ($NaO_3SC_6H_3$-1,3-(COOH)$_2$, $NaH_2$-SIP) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) led to two new compounds, [Zn(phen)$_3$$\cdot2H_2SIP\cdot4H_2O$ (1) and [Zn(phen)$_2(H_2O)_2]\cdot2H_2SIP\cdot2H_2O$ (2). They were characterized by element analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermalgravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both compounds 1-2 represent the first example of Zn/phen/SIP system. The Zn (II) ion in 1 is six-coordinated by six nitrogen atoms from three phen molecules, and the $H_2SIP^-$ ligands engage in the formation of hydrogen bond. The Zn(II) ion in 2 is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms from two phen molecules and two oxygen atoms from two water molecules. Moreover, both 1 and 2 are assembled into 3D supramolecular architectures by hydrogen bonds (O-H$\ldots$O) and $\pi-\pi$ interactions. Solvent water molecules occupying voids of the compounds serve as receptors or donors of the extensive O-H$\ldots$O hydrogen bonds.
