A bulk porous composite with plantinum nano-dispersion was synthesized in air atmosphere through the combination of several in situ reactions, including the pyrolysis of . A mixture of (dolomite), , and LiF (0.5 wt%, as an additive) was cold isostatically pressed at 200 MPa and sintered at for 2 h. The porous composite ( : Pt=99 : 1 in volume) had a uniformly open-porous structure (porosity: 56%) with three-dimensional (3-D) network and a narrow pore-size distribution, similarly to the porous composites reported before. Catalytic Properties (viz., NO direct decomposition and NO reduction by ) of the composite were investigated up to . In the absence of oxygen, the NO conversion rate reached ~52% for the direct decomposition and ~100% for the reduction by , respectively. The results suggest the possibility of the porous composite as a multifunctional filter, i.e., simultaneous hot gas-filtering and in one component.

Superficial colonic neoplasms sometimes extend into a diverticulum. Conventional endoscopic mucosal resection of these lesionsis considered challenging because colonic diverticula do not have a muscularis propria and are deeply inverted. Even if the solutionis carefully injected below the mucosa at the bottom of the diverticulum, the mucosa is rarely elevated from the diverticular orifice, and it is usually just narrowed. Although endoscopic submucosal dissection or full-thickness resection with an over-the-scope clipdevice enables the complete resection of these lesions, it is still challenging, time consuming and expensive. Underwater endoscopicmucosal resection without submucosal injection (UEMR) is an innovative technique enabling en bloc resection of superficial colonlesions. We report three patients with colon adenomas extending into a diverticulum treated with successful UEMR. UEMR enabledrapid and safe en bloc resection of colon lesions extending into a diverticulum.

We have newly developed two types of reverse conducting GTO(RC-GTO)thynstors with ratings of 2.5kV,2000A and t. 5kV,3000A. Good electrical separation between the GTO part and the diode part was attained by introducing a double diffused p-base profile. High turn-off capability was achieved by reducing the variation of on-state voltage and gate impedance among the GTO segments.<br/> Especially for the 4.5kV, 3000A device, a pin Junction structure with anode shorting was applied in order to reduce on-state voltage and switching energy.

When two immiscible liquids make contact in a microchannel, the flow pattern is affected by the affinity between channel walls and liquids. In this study, microchannels (200 μm in width and 200 μm in depth) having a Tshaped bifurcation point were fabricated on PMMA plates. The inner walls of the microchannels were modified in a zone-selective manner to be either hydrophilic or hydrophobic, based on verification accomplished via a laser interference fringe technique. The microchannel was placed horizontally, and water and octane were introduced into the upper-side channel (hydrophilic) and into the lower-side channel (hydrophobic), respectively. The experimental results showed that water and octane formed a stable layered flow, and the two liquids were virtually completely separated at the T-shaped section, even when static pressure was intentionally applied to the outlets. CFD simulation, using FLUENT 6.3 software, was performed to explain the role of zone-selective modification of microchannel walls.
