      • The Tertiary Deposits of the Ulsan Basin No.l. Tertiary deposits in the eastern block

        蔚山盆地의 第三紀層은 無龍山의 東側 山麓部와 西側 山麓部 分布한다. 本 論文은 東側 山麓部에 分布하는 第三紀層의 層序와 對比에 관하여 論하였다. 東側 山麓部에 分布하는 第三紀層은 下位로부터 上位로의 順序로 江東層과 新峴層으로 分帶되며, 白堊紀의 蔚山層과 第三紀의 堂舍里安山巖을 不整合으로 덮고 있다. 新峴層에서는 Vicarya-Anadara assemblage의 海捿軟 動物化石들이 産出되며, 新峴層은 溫暖한 汽水의 淺海에서 堆積되었으며, 그 地質時代는 마이오世 中期初이다. 江東層은 新峴層을 堆積한 海浸이 일어난 當時의 陸成相 堆積物로 생각된다.

      • Geology of the Tertiary Yangnam and Pohang Basins, Korea

        The Yangnam and Pohang basin are the largest Tertiary ones in the southern Korean Peninula, and their geologic events are enumerated as follows in chronological order: (1) Early-Middle Eocene daitic volcanism on land: The Wangsan Formation was deposited. (2) Oligo-Miocene rifting of the Pohang-Ulsan Graben between the Proto-Korean Penisula and Paleo Ulleung Land. The Paleo-Ulleung Land had existed until the late Pliocene. (3) Early Miocene dacitic and andestic-basaltic volcanisms on land and unde water: The Beomgogni and Janggi groupas were deposited. (4)Upheaval of the Yangnam Basin : Beomgogni and Janggi groups were eroded and the terretial Danguri Conglomerate and Gangdong Formation of the Yeonil Group were deposited. (5) Yeonil Marine Transgression : Marine Transgression statrted to advance into the Pohang-Ulsan Garben in the late Early Milocene, and subsequently, in the Middle Miocene, the graben became an open sea, and the Paleo -Pohang and Paleo-Ulsan troughs and Paleo-Yangnam Ridge were formed. The Cheongogsa, Hagjeon and Heunghae formations of the Yeonil Group in the Pohang Trough are the upilfted parts of the marine sediments which were deposited in the Paleo-Pohang Trough, while the Singyeon Formation in Eoil and Uparts areas of the Yangnam Basin is the uplifted parts of the marine sediments on the Paleo-Yangnam Ridge. (6)Uplifting of the Gampo and Janggi domes: Radial Fault systems were formed, and the Paleo -Pohang and Paleo -Ulsan troughs and Paleo-Janggi Ridge were destroyed. The age of this upflifting si unknown yet, but is presumed to be Mio-Pliocene. The tectogenesis of the Pohang-Ulsan Graben is daporic, and named the Eoil Orpgeny. The Eoil Orogeny is correlated to the Green Tuff Orogeny in Japen. The Yangsan Tectonic Line is the western wall of the Sado-Pohang Belt in which the Neogene diapiric tectogenesis occurered.

        南部長기의 甘浦邑에서 陽北面 竹田里에 걸쳐 分布하는 第三紀의 堆積岩類는 下位로부터 上位로의 順序로 典村層, 典洞層, 松田層으로 分帶된다. 玄武岩質 火山岩類 (熔岩流 및 火成碎屑岩類)의 複合체인 魚日玄武岩 複合체는 典洞層과 指交하고 있다 松田層에서는 Vicarya-Anadara assemblage의 海棲軟체動物의 化石들이 産出되는데, 松田層은 溫暖한 汽水의 盞海에서 堆積되었으며 그 地質時代는 마이오世 中期初이다. 典洞層은 松田層을 堆積한 海侵이 일어날 當時의 陸成相 堆積物로 생각된다. The Tertiary sodiments and volcanic rocks on the southern Janggi(Gampo-Eoil District) are subdivided into the Jeonchon, the Jeondong and the Songjeon formations. The Eoil Basalt Complex interfingers with the Jeondong Formations. The Songjeon Formation yields marind molluuscan fossils of the Vicarya-Anadara assemblage. The Songjeon Formation was deposited under shallow brackish warm water, and os Early Middle Miocene in geologic age. The Jeondong Formation is considered to be the land facies existed at the time of the marine transgression of the Songjeonian time, and to be contemporaneous with the marine facies.

      • Peperite in the Tertiary Yangnam Basin, Korea : 1. Peperite at Maegog 1. 매곡의 페페라이트

        매곡의 페페라이트는 마이오世 前期의 典洞層의 역암층에서 산출되는데 쇄설성 역암과 현무암질 물질의 혼합체이다. 현무암질 물질은 잔자갈(Pebble)내지 표력(boulder)크기의 입자들과 유리질 물질로 역암 중에 들어 있다. 현무암질 입자들은 角形-非顯晶質과 圓形-多孔質의 두 종류로 분류되는데 前者는 粗面岩狀 組織을 갖고 있으며 氣孔이 거의 없는데 비하여, 後者는 斑狀組織을 갖고 매우 多孔質이며 變形되어져 있다. 페페라이트의 基質은 薇多孔質 조직을 갖고 있으며, 쇄설성 석영 및 장석,암편,사장석 마이크로라이트와 현무암질 유리로 구성되어져 있다. 페페라이트는 역암층과 관입 접촉관계를 보여준다. 본 페페라이트는 고체상 암괴와 유체상 암괴를 함유하고 있는 현무암질 기체상 유체가 관입 혼합되어 형성된 것으로 해석되는데, 角形-非顯晶質 입자는 고체상 암괴이며, 圓形-多孔質입자는 유체상 암괴가 고결되어 형성된 것이다. 고체상 암괴와 유체상 암괴를 갖는 기체상 현무암질 물질은 함수미소결 퇴적층에서 현무암질 관입체의 流體化作用(fluidization)에 의하여 생성되어 혼합되어지게 된 것으로 추리된다. 고체상 암괴는 간입체의 고결된 외곽부의 파편이고 유체상 암괴는 貫入體 내부에 아직 유체 상태로 있던 부분의 파편이다. 관입체의 冷却史는 冷却期와 爆發的 流體化 作用 구분되는데, 페페라이트의 형성은 후자에서 일어났다. The peperite Maegog is found in the conglomerate bed of the Early Miocene Jeondong Formation,and a mixture of epiclastic conglomerate and basltic material. The basaltic material is enclosed as pebble-to block-sized clasts and glassy materials in the conglomerate. The basalt clasts are divided into two kinds in shape and texture,that is, angular-aphanitic clasts and rounded-vesicular clasts. The former is trachytic and rarely vesicular in texture, while the latter is porphyritic and highly vesicular in texture and plastically deformed in shape. The matrix is micro-vesicular with numerous gas cavities,and consists of detrital quarzt and feldspar, rock fragments,plagioclase microlites and basaltic glass. The peperite has an intrusive contact to its adjacent conglomerate enclosing the peperite. It is suggested that the peperite at Maegog resulted from the intrusion and mixing of the basaltic material which was a gaseous fluid bearing solid blocks and fluid drops. The angular-aphnitic clasts are the solid blocks and the rounded-vesicular clasts were formed by the solidification of the fluid drops. The gaseous basaltic material bearing solid blocks and fluid drops. The gaseous basaltic material bearing solid blocks and fluid drops are presumed to have been formed and mixed with the conglomerate by the fluidization of a basalt intrusion in wet, unconsolidated sediments. The solid blocks are the fragments of the solidified outer margin of the intrusion, and the fluid drops are the fragments of the fluid inner part of the intrusion. The cooling history of the intrusion is divied into two stages, theat is, cooling stage and explosive fluidization stage. The formation of the peperite occurred in the latter stage.

      • Tectonic History of the Yangsan Fault, Southeastern Part of the Korean Peninsula

        The Yangsan Fault, extending for about 170Km in a NNE-SSW direction from Pusan through Yeonghae, is the most significant fault in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. The tectonic history of the Yangsan Fault is colsely related to the development of Tertiary basins such as the Pohang and Yeonghae basins in southeastern Korea. The Yangsan Fault is a result of block movements that occurred along the southeastern margin of the Korean Peninsula. The block movements have four stages in their development, that is, the initial stage, the developing stage, the reactivation stage and the seismic faulting stage. Tertiary basins such as the Pohang and Yeonghae basins formed on the down-thrown blocks during the late part of the developing stage. The block movements were caused by volcanic and plutonic activity during Late Cretaceous through the Early Miocene time.

        Mixture IRT model for detecting aberrant responses under low-stake testing

        Item Response Theory (IRT) aids with the analysis of test items and item response patterns. One concern with test assessment is aberrant response. Aberrant responses are caused by several factors, for example, a participant’s low level of motivation or their concern with the time limit for a high stakes test. These factors can yield biased estimates for IRT models that may invalidate inferences associated with research results. Mixture IRT models have been proposed and applied for detecting aberrant responses such as random guessing, performance decline in a low-stake test, or an extreme response style in a self-report survey. This study used a mixture Rasch model on an empirical data set to search for two latent classes defined as groups: valid responders or random responders. The effects of random responses on the estimation of model parameters was investigated as well as the effects of an educational intervention. In summary, only a small portion of random responders was detected. Consequently, they had a relatively weak effect on the estimation of model parameters and the efficacy of an educational intervention. 문항반응이론(IRT) 모형은 검사 문항 및 검사 문항에 대한 반응유형 분석 등에 사용된다. 피험자의 문항반응은 검사에서 측정하고자 잠재특성 외 다른 요인들에 의해 영향 받으며 이로 인하여 비정상적인 문항반응이 발생하기도 한다. 예를 들어, 피험자가 검사에 흥미를 가지지 못한 경우 문항에 성실히 응답하지 않을 수 있으며, 고부담 검사에 참여한 피험자가 제한된 시간에 대한 불안으로 비정상적인 문항반응을 보일 수 있다. 비정상적인 문항반응은 문항반응이론 모형의 편파적인 모수 추정을 야기할 수 있으며, 이로 인해 왜곡된 연구 결과가 도출 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 혼합 문항반응이론(mixture IRT) 모형을 적용하여 비정상적인 문항반응을 추출하고, 추출된 비정상적인 문항반응이 문항반응이론 모형의 모수 추정에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 아울러 교육적 처치의 효과 분석에 비정상적인 문항반응이 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 추출된 비정상적인 문항반응의 비율은 비교적 낮았으며, 이들이 교육적 처치 효과 분석에 미치는 영향 또한 크지 않았다.

        Translation and Application of the Parent’s Evaluation of Aural/Oral Performance of Children in Korea

        Purpose: This study aimed to translate the Parent’s Evaluation of Aural/Oral Performance of Children (PEACH) Rating Scale into Korean and to verify its reliability and validity in normal-hearing children. Methods: The translation of the PEACH questionnaire to Korean was done by keeping the original meaning as possible. The contents were verified to confirm the appropriateness of the translated PEACH version. The Korean version of PEACH was conducted on parents of 120 children with normal hearing aged 0 to 4 years. The internal consistency reliability and constructive validity analyses were performed. The PEACH scores (quiet, noise, and overall) were compared between age groups, and the logistic regression analyses between scores and age were examined. Results: Chronbach’s alpha values of the PEACH were 0.954 in overall, 0.939 in quiet, and 0.885 in noise, showing high internal consistency reliability, and significant constructive validity was shown. The PEACH scores significantly increased as age increased from 0 to 4 years. There were large score differences in the age range from 0 to 2 years. There was no significant difference after 3 years of age, but a significantly lower score was observed in noise. The logistic regression analysis between scores and age indicated that 85% of the overall score was achieved at 31 months of age. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the Korean version of PEACH is highly reliable and valid as a test tool for measuring the hearing performance of young children.
