      • A 12-Gb/s/lane, 0.2-pJ/bit, Staggered-Quarter-Rate Transmitter with FFE-Based Far-End Crosstalk Cancellation for Next-Generation HBM Interface

        12-Gb/s/lane transmitter (TX) suitable for next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) interface having ultrafine-pitch silicon interposer is presented. The proposed TX features feed-forward equalization (FFE)-based far-end crosstalk (XT) cancellation scheme with staggered-quarter-rate (SQR) signaling. By signaling with 45 ° phase staggered in adjacent channels, the design complexity of XT cancellation is greatly reduced. To validate the proposed TX design, a silicon interposer channel is emulated by a 3-mm on-chip channel with a 1.5- m pitch, using upper metal layers in a 28-nm CMOS node. The proposed TX also designed in a 28-nm CMOS process achieves 8-Gb/s/ m throughput and 0.2-pJ/b energy efficiency with an eye opening of 0.57-UI width and 82.9-mV height at 12 Gb/s, occupying a compact active area of 0.0032 ㎟.

        육미지황탕 효능의 동의보감과 실험연구결과의 비교고찰 -한의학과 중의학을 중심으로-

        Objectives : A lot of experiment results of Yugmijihwangtang(YM) are reported in various kinds of journals. Many of them report on the new effects that are not recorded in the traditional medical texts. So it is necessary to take it into consideration that newly reported effects could be of help to clinical practice, because this process of comparison of Donguibogam and scientific experiment results will have basis to lead into the evidence based medicine. Methods : We compared the effects of in Donguibogam and the experiment results of YM. Results : The effects of YM in Donguibogam are to replenish essence and marrow, and to treat red wen, fatigue, treat hypouresis, urinary sediment, urinary urgency, hematuria, hydrocephalus, speech and movement retardation, yin-deficiency, diabetes mellitus, nonalcoholic fatty liver, melanoma, disability to see near and far sight, tinnitus, hearing loss, alopecia, angiogenesis, cough, cough at night, trachyphonia, and, infantile convulsion. The experiment results of YM since 2000 in both Korea and China are to inhibit atopic dermatitis, renal interstitial fibrosis, anti-oxidant, emphysema, stress, glomerulosclerosis, diabetic nephropathy, chronic glomerulonephritis, hemorrhage, plantar sweating, dermal aging, kidney aging, bone loss, breast cancer, pathological myocardial cell, primary liver cancer, thrombosis, osteoporosis, intrauterine growth retardation, chronic renal failure, IgA nepropathy, slow cerebral development, and hippocampal tissue lesions on the one hand, and to help bone formation, renin-angiotensin- aldosterone system, cerebral recovery, cognitive function and expression, osteoblast proliferation and differentiation, learning and memory, cold-tolerance and oxygen deficit-tolerance and anti-fatigue, endometrial formation, humoral and cell-mediated immunity, immune regulation effect, Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Ovary Axis, and spermatogenesis, on the other hand. Conclusion : When we compared the effects of YM with the experiment results of YM, there existed a considerable gap between them. So, from now on, it is expected that a great effort and consideration are needed to solve these gaps from an academic and clinical point of view.

      • A 10-Gb/s/lane, 0.5-μm-Pitch, 1-mm-Long Silicon Channel Interface Using 28-nm CMOS for Active Chiplet Interposers

        In the chiplet-based system, it is important to accommodate massively-parallel memory interface in the interposer layer in an area-efficient way. Therefore, the design techniques to maximize the throughput per channel density should be explored. In this work, a silicon channel interface including a 10-Gb/s transmitter with on-chip channels having 0.5-μm pitch and 1-mm length is presented. The proposed channel design technique optimizes the throughput per channel density considering crosstalk, attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio (ACR), and eye diagram. As a result, the proposed interface designed using a 28-nm CMOS process achieves 20 Gb/s/μm, which can be extended to 2 Tb/s in 100-μm width. In the worst case with four aggressors of adjacent channels, the simulated timing margin and eye opening at the victim channel is 0.52 UI and 105 mV at 10 Gb/s, respectively, without any crosstalk cancellation.

        변증논치(辨證論治)와 병증변치(病證辨治) 장단점의 비교고찰 - 고혈압과 두통의 예를 중심으로 -

        Objectives : Comparative review was rendered to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of two common treatment approaches of treatment based on syndrome differentiation and treatment based on syndrome differentiation from disease. A typical symptom of headache from hypertension was chosen for substantial approach of this review. Methods : Pros and cons of two different approaches to disease were evaluated based on literatures and texts focusing treatment based on syndrome differentiation and treatment based on syndrome differentiation from disease. Headache can be correlated with hypertension yet it can be induced by multiple other factors, and headache may/may not accompany hypertension. Hypertension is an example of treatment based on syndrome differentiation from disease and headache can be an example of treatment based on syndrome differentiation. Results : Treatment based on syndrome differentiation can give more autonomy and flexibility in approach to the disease, Intuition, experience, and traditional medical theory can be applied with ease. However, management and eradication of diseases are difficult and standardization of treatment is not easy among practitioners. Treatment based on syndrome differentiation from disease incorporated merits of both eastern and western medicines, achieving more evidence based diagnosis and treatment. Eradication and standardization of disorders are possible with the latter approach. Conclusions : Comparing two systems of treatment based on syndrome differentiation and treatment based on syndrome differentiation from disease with emphasis on hypertension and headache yielded medical values. Treatment based on syndrome differentiation from disease appears to be superior in medical values and effectiveness, but further evaluation and interest are needed to make advancement in Korean traditional medicine.
