This paper describes on the results of 1:400 geometrical laboratory modeling of wind-induced point pressure on the membrane roof structure of Stadium with variable roof slopes. The wind flow for flat ground surface was simulated in a boundary wind tunnel at Kumoh National Institute of Technology. The roof slope of membrane structure changed into 5 types. The locations of wind pressures taps are distributed on the same upper and lower part of membrane roof. The resultant wind pressure for each measurement points are analysed on 2 categories. One is acting on upper direction, the other is lower direction. The results showed that in the case of upper direction the changes of wind pressures on the membrane roof are not dominant in regard to changing roof slope, but in lower direction wind pressures are increased at the rear part of roof with changing roof slopes.

      • Dewey

Vol.6 No.-

In examining Dewey’s aesthetic experience with regard to religious experience, this study has found that Dewey’s view of the religion is achieved through aesthetic experience. Dewey insisted humanistic common religion, and opposed any kind of faith which was based on a specific denomination or sect. For Dewey, religious experience, as a nature of experience, can belong to any human experience be it aesthetic, scientific, maral, political, or social. Religious education can be said to realize ideals and values through man’s imagination, and this religious eduation is in accord with general education. Therefore, religious education can be best achieved by realizing their ideals through developing imagination, by having children have aesthetic experiences through providing religious situations. However, in writer’s opinion Dewey’s view about the religion is not religious. Because Dewey did not discuss of Human death, heavenly Kingdom, the Future World, repentance etc., But Dewey’s view to the religious experience is much thinkful to the religious education. The fact, we can feel the divine imagination from the aesthetic experience, in the church’s interior or sacred music or hymns, more than from the sermon of creeds or the supernatural. Dewey rejects such religious education as teaching students to have faith in God, a supernatural and absolute being. In Dewey’s view, religious education in schools should keep children to have religious experience, which lead children to a devotional and meaningful life.

Biodegradable retinal fixation devices obtain mechnical fixation of the retina with desirable chorioretinal scarring and with the potential for local, sustained release of antimetabolites and steroids to inhibit proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack with barb that was designed in order to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. This study was carried to evaluate the efficacy for retinal fixation and the capability for sustained release of drugs with a newly designed biodegradable retinal tack Biodegradable retinal tacks were made of polymers of glycolic acids and were designed with barbs in a shape to prevent the disinsertion. Biodegradale retinal tacks are divided into 3 parts, a conical portion that is inserted into the sclera, a cylinder portion that remains in the vitreous, and a neck portion between the pin and the cylinder. The tapered conical end was manufactured to allow easy insertion through the retina and choroid into the sclera. A cylinder portion was manufactured with a tapered angle that fixes firmly into the orifice of 19 gauge spinal needle. A neck portion, 0.4 mm in diameter, was designed to prevent disinsertion from following implantation of retinal tack. The applicator was a 19 gauge spinal needle and its orifice was prepared to 15°angle to accept the tapered cylinder portion of the retinal tack. The retinal tacks, secured in the needles, were passed through the formed vitreous and inserted into the retina, choroid, and sclera and were released by pushing the internal needle, usually within 2-3mm of the medullary ray of the posterior rabbit retina A retinal tack was placed in each of 8 pigmented rabbit eyes. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy and fundus photography were performed periodically from 1 day to 8 weeks after surgery. Eight eyes were enucleated and studied by light microscopy at 8 weeks. Biomicroscopic evaluation of the animals revealed edemas adjacent to the retinal surfaces immediately after insertion of the biodegradable retinal tacks in all the animals. These edemas disappeared after 1 week. The first noticeable change in the size of retinal tacks was shown after 2weeks. The size of the retinal tacks gradually got smaller, decreasing to about one-half at 4 weeks and about one-third at 8 weeks. All retinal tacks remained in inserted places without any movement for an 8 week period. On light microscopy, epiretinal proliferations were seen to extend into the vitreous cavity. Cellular capsules that lined the inner aspect of the scleral defect caused by tack insertion were found. However the adjacent retina had a normal cytologic appearance and architecture in all specimens. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack that is designed to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. All biodegradable retinal tacks reduce in size with time, but no retinal tacks extruded from the inserted place. The newly designed biodegradable retinal tack can be used for retinal fixation and may be used as a vehicle for the introduction of pharmacologic agents to prevent the cellular events that promote proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

Vol.14 No.1

Through the comparative experiment of FAC-Biofilm and F-A system using the wastewater treated by FAC process, the following conclusions ca be drawn form the results of this research. 1. Despite the fluctuation of influent concentrations, FAC process showed that since the wastewater qualities treated by it were within the range of effluent quality regulation, it was adequate as pretreatment process 2. The results of comparative experiments of FAC-Biofilm and F-A system presented that for COD and SS removal, all of both system resulted in a desirable removal rate, but NH_(4)-N was largly reduced by Biofilm process. Particulary, phosphorus removal was more effective to pass through the biofilm process after coagulation and sedimentation. 3. The waste sludge amount in FAC process was calculated by the equation of that of Contact-Stabilization Method, because MLSS concentration in reaeration basin keep being constant could be anticipated steady-state in operation the FAC process.

Vol.25 No.1

SF_(6) gas is widely used as insulating medium in gas insulated switchgear, gas insulated transmission line, gas insulated substation. Therefore, SF_(6) gas is actively studied in domestic and foreign countries. As SF_(6) gas is very expensive, various methods of mixing SF_(6) gas with a more cheap gas are reported. But the study on analysis by Lichtenberg figure is rather poor. In this paper, it is to study corona discharge figure in SF_(6)/N_(2) gas mixtures. And discharge figure process was analyzed by applying positive and negative dc voltage. By comparing the pure SF_(6) gas with the SF_(6)/N_(2) gas on the basis of the above two experiments.

Vol.1 No.-

The Swedes, living on the outlying northern peninsular, thrust upon the south and helped shape the European history. Between 800 and 1050 A.D., the Vikings, who formed last phase of the Germanic invasions, pushed themselves to the east and south, and thus left profound historic marks on Russia through Black Sea as well as Western Europe. The Swedes' second outward thrust occured during the first half of the 17th century in the form of the Swedish intervention of the thirty-year War, and the Swedish leaders fought for the protestant causes and territorial gains. Meanwhile, Sweden as a whole remained largely secluded, backward and agricultural a society being unaffected by the dynamic changes occurring in the Western Europe during this period. However, the nation has emerged in the twentieth century as an ideal state of peace loving, neutral, welfare minded and most progressive kind. How did this great conversion come about beginning 1870's? What factor contributed to the rapid development that has been much faster than other Western European countries? A process which has taken more than centuries in other societies that the process of industrialization, urbanization democratization and social reform have been achieved in Sweden within the span of half a century. For many centuries, the Swedes were known for adventure and violence; and then the present Sweden is known for the homeland of Nobel prize, great artworks and one of the most advanced technology. How has this come about? The key task ahead is to assess the national accomplishment as a whole, the achievements of individual endeavor and concerted effort on the part of the nation. The Swedes learned the necessity of compromise and adjustment. Competition and burst of energy are channeled toward positive national goals instead of strife and violence. Taking into account that the nation is small and backward, the country was united in striving for independence and excellence. The descendents of the Vikings realized that they form homogeneous community and they are indeed in the same boat, and that a driving for excellence and originality since became national obssession. The success story of modern Sweden would be a major examplar which worth careful examination as well as thoughtful analysis. It should also be noted that the Swedish model could serve as a lesson to other developing countries.

Vol.23 No.1

For the purpose of investigating the reduction mechanism of compounds composed with Zinc Oxide and Ferric Oxide, the reduction experiment was performed in the tube furmace by varing atmospheric conditions and carbon content additions. The results obtained from this experiment are summarized as follows. 1) In the case of reduction with carbon, the volatilization rate of ZnO-Fe₂O₃system increased above 94% in argon atmosphere but the trend was opposite in air atmosphere owing to the restoration reaction. 2) The reduction of Ferric Oxide appeared as ferrite(α-Fe) in air atmosphere, but it was appeared as iron carbide in argon atmosphere. 3) The reduction rate of compounds of ZnO-Fe₂O₃ system were reduced with decreasing Zinc content under the condition of reduction in air atmosphere. 4) In spite of 0.78% Zinc content of blast furnace dust, the reduction rate approached up to 78.56% in the case of reduction in argon atmosphere.
