        Design of Medical Record Algorithms

Yohwan So,Seoksoo Kim 2005 International Journal of Contents Vol.1 No.2

The following suggested algorithm is completed care report for the family medical history. Rn = U Pnj + U Dn^i : (j=1,2,...,j), (i=1,2,...,i), (n=1,2,..,n) The Rn(completed care report) integrates comprehensive patients reports ranging from patient P² to P^j including P¹ (oneself) with the doctors' care reports up to the care No. no by i number of doctors (D¹=doctor in charge, D²,³,…^i=doctors on corporation program.) This approach, since a participation in a family membership effectuates all of family members, can minimize the membership fees, thus enabling inter-family health care on a home doctor basis.

      • A Multidrop Bus Design Scheme With Resistor-Based Impedance Matching on Nonuniform Impedance Lines

Yohwan Yoon,Deog-Kyoon Jeong IEEE 2011 IEEE transactions on circuits and systems. a publi Vol.58 No.6

<P>In this paper, a bus design scheme that achieves both impedance matching and uniform power distribution for a multidrop bus is presented. In contrast to conventional schemes, the proposed scheme lets the line impedance of each segment of the bus vary, and the impedance-matching resistance values are determined accordingly, thereby providing higher degrees of freedom for optimization. General formulas for determining the optimal line impedances and matching resistances are derived. The voltage and power ratios between the master driver and branch receivers are also established, showing that such ratios depend only on the master-to-branch impedance ratio and the number of branches. Similar relations are also derived for the backward direction. The measurement results of the fabricated FR4 printed circuit boards demonstrate good agreement with the theoretical results, and show reliable performance up to a bit rate of 5 Gbps.</P>

Exercise Frequency Reduction Is Associated With Higher Risk of Infection in Newly Diagnosed Diabetes: A Nationally Representative Cohort Study

        Lim Yohwan,Kim Hye Jun,Yoon Sung Soo,Lee Sang Jun,Lee Myeong Hoon,Park Hyewon,Park Sun Jae,Jeong Seogsong,Han Hyun Wook 대한의학회 2023 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.38 No.23

Background: Exercise is an important method to control the progression of diabetes. Since diabetes compromises immune function and increases the risk of infectious diseases, we hypothesized that exercise may affect the risk of infection by its immunoprotective effects. However, population-based cohort studies regarding the association between exercise and the risk of infection are limited, especially regarding changes in exercise frequency. The aim of this study was to determine the association between the change in exercise frequency and the risk of infection among patients with newly diagnosed diabetes. Methods: Data of 10,023 patients with newly diagnosed diabetes were extracted from the Korean National Health Insurance Service-Health Screening Cohort. Self-reported questionnaires for moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) were used to classify changes in exercise frequency between two consecutive two-year periods of health screenings (2009–2010 and 2011–2012). The association between changes in exercise frequency and the risk of infection was evaluated using multivariable Cox proportional-hazards regression. Results: Compared with engaging in ≥ 5 times of MVPA/week during both periods, a radical decrease in MVPA (from ≥ 5 times of MVPA/week to physical inactivity) was associated with a higher risk of pneumonia (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 1.60; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.03–2.48) and upper respiratory tract infection (aHR, 1.15; 95% CI, 1.01–1.31). In addition, a reduction of MVPA from ≥ 5 to < 5 times of MVPA/week was associated with a higher risk of pneumonia (aHR, 1.52; 95% CI, 1.02–2.27), whereas the risk of upper respiratory tract infection was not higher. Conclusion: Among patients with newly diagnosed diabetes, a reduction in exercise frequency was related to an increase in the risk of pneumonia. For patients with diabetes, a modest level of physical activity may need to be maintained to reduce the risk of pneumonia.

Vol.18 No.1

Voltaire’s Candide or optimism is readily associated, in the mind of most contemporary readers, with the Lisbon Earthquake of 1755. Any book that offers a general account on this chef-d’oeuvre never fails to point out that one of the principal reasons of the writing of the book can be found in this catastrophic event. What we are setting out to do in this study is not the investigation of the philosophical aspect of the Candide, even less its understanding in the historical perspective. The aim of our study lies precisely in identifying a specific mode of writing that one can witness on the surface of the text. If the Earthquake, as one argues, caused intellectual earthquake in the very mind of Voltaire, how does his own text, published four years later, reflect memories of the such event? Memories, but not the immediate nor faithful description of the catastrophe. Our study suggests that the text, as well as its several characters is in constant motion as if the tremor subsequently follows the earthquake. What Voltaire successfully presents to the readers is the successive pictures of the tragedy underwent by the characters and carried out by the swift transition of one event to another. Moving from one place to another, from one country to another, from the barony of Westphalia to the New World, Candide and his entourage experience all kinds of “evils”: they are hanged, dissected, raped, beaten, sold to pirates, robbed, disemboweled; their castle demolished, their parents murdered. Behind this vertiginous rhythm of the narrative, even the most insensible reader can notice that it oftens lacks any causal relation. Frequent use of parataxis emphasizes the abrupt nature of the narrative. Extreme fragmentation of the text and the narrative, along with the obsessive depiction of the body in pieces, all these succeed in representing the memories of the catastrophe. Lastly, we suggest that beyond the image of this shattered world, one can still find a possible, mysterious chain that would link one end of the globe to the other, one character to another, one event to another; and that the pessimistic vision of Voltaire reveals itself once again through the tragic nature of the ever closer world.

Vol.18 No.5

Increased Estimated GFR Is Negatively Associated With the Risk of SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Severe COVID-19 Within Normal to Mildly Decreased Levels: Nested Case-Control Study

Lim Yohwan,Lee Myeong Hoon,Lee Su Kyoung,Jeong Seogsong,Han Hyun Wook 대한의학회 2023 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.38 No.49

Background: While accumulating evidence indicates chronic kidney disease as a risk factor for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the association between normal or mildly decreased kidney function and COVID-19 is unaddressed. Here, we have examined the association of an increase in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) with the incidence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and severe COVID-19 outcomes among patients within normal to mildly decreased kidney function. Methods: The patients who participated in both health screenings from period I (2017–2018) to II (2019–2020) were enrolled to our study. All participants were categorized into four groups according to the changes in eGFR stage from period I to II: 1) persistently stage G1, 2) from stage G2 to G1, 3) from stage G1 to G2, 4) persistently stage G2. In addition, the changes in eGFR value were defined by subtracting its value of period I from II. Patients were followed up for SARS-CoV-2 infection from January 1, 2021 to any diagnosis of COVID-19 or December 31, 2021, whichever happened first. In addition, those with SARS-CoV-2 infection were followed-up for one month after diagnosis to analyze severe COVID-19. Adjusted odds ratio (aOR) was calculated using multivariable-adjusted logistic regression. Results: We identified 159,427 patients with and 1,804,798 patients without SARS-CoV-2 infection. The risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection decreased when eGFR stage changed from G2 to G1 (aOR, 0.957; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.938–0.977) and persistently maintained at G1 (aOR, 0.966; 95% CI, 0.943–0.990), compared with the persistently stage G2 group. In addition, the risk showed an inverse relationship with changes in eGFR value, which was depicted by restricted cubic spline curves. For the overall risk of severe COVID-19, the persistently stage G1 showed the lowest risk (aOR, 0.897; 95% CI, 0.827–0.972), followed by those from stage G1 to G2 (aOR, 0.900; 95% CI, 0.828–0.978) and those from stage G2 to G1 (aOR, 0.931; 95% CI, 0.871–0.995), compared with the persistently stage G2 group. Conclusion: An increase in eGFR was negatively associated with the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe COVID-19 among normal or mildly decreased kidney function. For severe COVID-19, maintaining higher baseline eGFR may act as a protective factor against its risk.

Vol.78 No.-

The purpose of this study is to introduce drama as a partner of preaching. It is an attempt to examine how to do homiletics as a faithful and creative drama in the post-modern era. With special reference to the notion of performance, I pay attention to the authority of the Scripture against an autonomous “aestheticism,” which claims the Bible as a text is free from its divine Author. The separation of the divine Author from His texts is unhelpful for the ministry of preaching. The metaphor of drama is an alternative way. Following the arguments of Karl Barth, Hans Urs von Balthasar, and Kevin Vanhoozer, theology as God’s performative action, I explore how they creatively constructs the nature of theology as divine drama with the help of speech-act theory, spiritual reading of the Bible as canon, and performance interpretation. My point is that if the nature of theology is dramatic, preaching is also dramatic and dramatic preaching has a formative power to conform the listeners to the form of Jesus Christ. In the end, the ministry of preaching helps people to participate in the drama of God as a faithful and creative performer. To do so, preaching should be solidified by the divine script of the Bible and composed to respect the divine subjectivity. Then, we may call preaching the performative speech-action of God, in which God invites people to play their own roles in the ongoing drama.
