        Acoustic Evaluation of Noise Reduction in a Hearing Aid

        본 연구의 목적은 특정 보청기 (Phonak, Phonet2 AudioZoom)의 잡음축소기능을 음향학적으로 평가하는 것이다. KEMAR안의 즈위스라키카플러(Zwislocki coupler )에 장치한 마이크로폰을 사용하여 녹음을 하였다. 녹음된 신호의 신호대 잡음비가 다양한 녹음환경에서 얻어졌다. 이 녹음환경은 다음 세 가지를 포함한다. (1) 두 가지 다른 잡음 수준(0과 15 dB SNR) (2) 세 가지 다른 잡음 수준(white, cafeteria and multitaker) (3) 세 가지 다른 보청기 프로그램(Peak Clipping, Wide Dynamic Range Compres sion, and Super Compres sion with Adaptive Recovery Time) 신호대 잡음비는 Qi et al.에 의해 개발된 신호잡음비 추정 알고리즘에 의해 계산되었다. 이 알고리즘에서 신호는 말과 상관된 구성요소의 에너지로 계산되었으나 잡음은 남아 있는 말과 상관되지 않는 구성요소의 에너지로 계산되었다. 그 상관되지 않은 구성요소는 원래의 신호에 의해 나타난 장단기 상관관계를 체계적으로 배제하면서 얻어졌다. 보청기의 AudioZoom 기능 이 사용된 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우의 신호대 잡음비의 차이가 그 보청기의 잡음축소기능을 평가하기 위해 계산되었다. 연구결과 신호대 잡음비는 높은 잡음 수준에서 AudioZoom이 사용되었을 때가 사용되지 않았을 때보다 1- 2 dB 높았다. 이 크기는 녹음 환경에서 제시된 잡음의 유형에 의존하였다. 결과에서 신호대 잡음비는 다른 잡음들보다 white 잡음에 더욱 높았다. 낮은 잡음 수준에서는 의미있는 차이가 발견되지 않았다. 역시, 보청기 프로그램의 의미있는 효과도 발견되지 않았다. 요약하면, 본 연구는 높은 수준의 whit e 잡음이 제시되었을 때 AudioZoom의 기능이 극대화된다는 것을 분명히 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to acoustically evaluate the noise reduction function of one specific type of hearing aid (Phonak, Piconet2 AZ). Recording were made using a microphone that was mounted on the Zwislocki coupler inside KEMAR. The signal- to- noise ratio (SNR) of the recorded signals were obtained for a variety of recording environments . These include: (1) high (0 dB SNR) and low (15 dB SNR) noise level, (2) three different types of noise (white, cafeteria, and multitalker ), and (3) three different hearing aid programs (Peak Clipping, Wide Dynamic Range Compression, and Super Compression with adaptive recovery Time). The SNRs were calculated using the signal- to- noise ratio estimation algorithm proposed by Qi et al. (in press ). In this algorithm, the signal was computed as the energy of correlated components of speech. Noise was computed as the energy of the remaining uncorrelated or random components of speech. The uncorrelated component was obtained by systematically removing any short- and long- term correlation exhibited by the original signal. The differences in SNR when the AudioZoom function was turned on or off was computed to evaluate the noise reduction function of the hearing aid. Results indicated that the SNR was about 1- 2 dB higher when AudioZoom was turned on than when it was turned off at the high noise level. This magnitude of the SNR increase depended on the type of noise presented in the environment. The SNR increase was significantly higher for white noise than for cafeteria noise or multitalker noise. No increase of SNR was observed when the AudioZoom function was turned on at the low noise level. The effect of hearing aid program is also not significant. It appears that the AudioZoom function is most effective when high- level white noise is present . It is not as useful when low- level, speech- like noise is present , no matter what hearing aid program is used.

        Two Portal Percutaneous Endoscopic Decompression for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: Preliminary Study

        Study Design: Retrospective. Purpose: To report the outcomes of patients with lumbar spinal stenosis treated with percutaneous endoscopic decompression, focusing on the results of clinical evaluations. Overview of Literature: There are no studies about two portal percutaneous endoscopic decompression in the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods: Medical and surgical complications were examined and clinical results were analyzed for 30 patients who consecutively underwent two portal percutaneous endoscopic decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis were reviewed. The operations were performed by unilateral laminotomy for bilateral decompression. Results: All patients displayed clinical improvement when were evaluated with visual analog scale (VAS) score of pain, Oswestry disability index (ODI) and Macnab criteria. The improvement of VAS and ODI was 8.3±0.7 to 2.3±2.6 and 65.2±13.7 to 24.0±15.5, respectively (both p <0.05). Complications were the same as for open decompression. The most common complication was transient nerve root paresthesia. Conclusions: Surgical decompression with two portal percutaneous endoscopic decompression has initial benefits, but long-term studies should pay more attention to the risks of postoperative instability and restenosis as well as the need for re-operation. Further investigations with long-term results are thus required.

      • Study on Money Number Recognition Arithmetic

        Money number recognition refers to the money of the currency, the currency and authenticity recognition. Money number recognition system is the kernel module of self-service system, and the major applied range is cash-related equipments. In this paper we design a kind of money number recognition system. The quick positioning of money number is achieved based on gray value accumulation. The edge line of money number area is detected using the least square method. Using geometrical rotation method and gray adjacent interpolation method to realize the number of tilt correction. Based on the character structure characteristic and the imaginary line and character of the point of intersection features, formation recognition judgment tree, realized the character recognition. The simulation experiment indicates that this algorithm has a high recognition accuracy under the condition of rejection.

      • Research on Algorithm for Automatic License Plate Recognition System

        License plate recognition belongs to the field of computer vision and pattern recognition, and plays an important role in the field of intelligent transportation. The license plate location is a key technology in license plate recognition, the accurate positioning of a license or not directly affects the accuracy of character segmentation and character recognition, and has a direct impact on the efficiency of the license plate recognition system. In this paper, based on knowledge acquisition and knowledge reduction ability of rough set, as well as learning ability and generalization ability of neural network, a plate positioning system is constructed. On this basis, combined the rough set with neural networks and fuzzy logic, a rough fuzzy neural network recognition is proposed. The experimental results show that this system not only simplifies the structure of the system, but also improves the generalization capability of knowledge, and improves the accuracy of character positioning.

      • Improved Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm Based on Parallel Hybrid Evolutionary Theory

        Based on the analysis on the basic principles and characteristics of the existing multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA), an improved multi-objective GA with elites maintain is put forward based on non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA). NSGA-II algorithm theory and parallel hybrid evolutionary theory is described in detail. The design principle, process and detailed implementations of the improved MOGA are given. IMNSGA-II algorithm and NSGA-II algorithm are applied to test the performance of the two algorithms for different test function, experiments of example are preformed. Experimental results show that the improved MOGA achieved the optimal between the convergence and diversity.

      • Research of Chinese Handwritten Text Segmentation Algorithm

        OCR is a complicated process, there are many factors that can influence the recognition rate. Early period people tried to optimize the classifier to obtain high recognition rate, but the premise is that there is only one character no matter print or handwritten. For the performance of classifier has been promoted a lot, recognition rate for single character is high enough for commercial use. With the development of the demand for handwritten text recognition, how to raise the recognition rate of OCR system becomes very important. Unlike OCR system for print which focus on classifier. The research of OCR system for handwritten text is mainly on character segmentation. Statistical analysis showed that the mistake made by missegment is more than the mistake made by classifier. This is decided by the feature of handwritten text. There are more randomness and the lines are not horizontal, besides that, handwritten Chinese characters are more like overlapped and the gaps between characters are smaller. So this is the difficulty of handwritten Chinese characters. In this paper, the mutil-step searching nonlinear line exaction algorithm the paper proposed is easy and the accuracy is high, which can tackle the some weaknesses of direct projection method and indirect projection.

        Five Cases Report of Solid Tumor Synchronously with Hematologic Malignancy

        The reported incidence of synchronous multiple primary cancer (SMPC) is rare, and it is even less common to observe synchronous solid tumor with a hematological malignancy. We report five cases of solid tumor presented synchronously with hematological malignancy, all observed within a 2 year period at the oncology department of a university hospital in Shanghai, China. These individual cases included lung adenocarcinoma with chronic myelogenous leukemia, colon cancer with solitary plasmocytoma, gastric adenocarcinoma with diffuse large B cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, lung adenocarcinoma with multiple myeloma, and colon cancer with diffuse large B cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is challenging to therapeutically control the biological behavior of concurrent multiple primary tumors, and there is no standard treatment for such rare conditions. In this paper we discuss these five cases of SMPC and their treatments.
