<P>Very few of the z > 5 quasars discovered to date have been radio-loud, with radio-to-optical flux ratios (radio-loudness parameters) higher than 10. Here we report the discovery of an optically luminous radio-loud quasar, SDSS J013127.34-032100.1 (J0131-0321 in short), at z = 5.18 +/- 0.01 using the Lijiang 2.4 m and Magellan telescopes. J0131-0321 has a spectral energy distribution consistent with that of radio-loud quasars. With an i-band magnitude of 18.47 and a radio flux density of 33 mJy, its radio-loudness parameter is similar to 100. The optical and near-infrared spectra taken by Magellan enable us to estimate its bolometric luminosity to be L-bol similar to 1.1 x 10(48) erg s(-1), approximately 4.5 times greater than that of the most distant quasar known to date. The black hole mass of J0131-0321 is estimated to be 2.7 x 10(9) M-circle dot, with an uncertainty up to 0.4 dex. Detailed physical properties of this high-redshift, radio-loud, potentially super-Eddington quasar can be probed in the future with more dedicated and intensive follow-up observations using multi-wavelength facilities.</P>
깊은 물속에서 하는 운동(Deep Water Exercise)이 노년기 여성의 체격, 체력에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 6weeks' deep water exercise on physique, physical fitness. The subjects of this study were 21 elderly women. All subjects participated in deep water exercise program 2times a week for 60 minutes. The deep water exercise program consists of walking, jogging in deep water. Before and after 6 weeks' deep water exercise program, 21 subjects were measured in body circumference, flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, and skinfold thickness. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Body weight and Chest, waist, abdominal circumference were decreased significantly. (p<.05, p<.01) 2. Physical fitness variables (flexibility, strength, muscular endurance) were increased significantly. 3. Arm and abdominal skinfold thickness were decreased significantly. (p<.01) In conclusion, the following points were drawn. Because deep water exercise is no impact exercise, it is especially good for the elderly. It is considered as the efficient exercise to make ideal body shape, and to develop physical fitness for the elderly.

Purpose: To analyze prognostic factors for locoregional recurrence (LRR), distant metastasis (DM), and overall survival (OS) in cervical cancer patients who underwent radical hysterectomy followed by postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) in a single institute. Materials and Methods: Clinicopathologic data of 135 patients with clinical stage IA2 to IIA2 cervical cancer treated with PORT from 2001 to 2012 were reviewed, retrospectively. Postoperative parametrial resection margin (PRM) and vaginal resection margin (VRM) were investigated separately. The median treatment dosage of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) to the whole pelvis was 50.4 Gy in 1.8 Gy/fraction. High-dose-rate vaginal brachytherapy after EBRT was given to patients with positive or close VRMs. Concurrent platinum-based chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) was administered to 73 patients with positive resection margin, lymph node (LN) metastasis, or direct extension of parametrium. Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test were used for analyzing LRR, DM, and OS; Cox regression was applied to analyze prognostic factors. Results: The 5-year disease-free survival was 79% and 5-year OS was 91%. In univariate analysis, positive or close PRM, LN metastasis, direct extension of parametrium, lymphovascular invasion, histology of adenocarcinoma, and chemotherapy were related with more DM and poor OS. In multivariate analysis, PRM and LN metastasis remained independent prognostic factors for OS. Conclusion: PORT after radical hysterectomy in uterine cervical cancer showed excellent OS in this study. Comparison of Osteogenic Differentiation of Bone Marrow Stromal Cells on Zirconia and Titanium

The ivory color of zirconium oxide, which is similar to the color of natural teeth, makes it useful in esthetically important areas of the oral cavity, and its high biocompatibility with reduced bacterial adhesion and flexural strength render it an excellent material for implant abutments. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the proliferation and osteogenic potential of bone marrow stromal cells on zirconium oxide surfaces using cDNA microarrays. Rat bone marrow stromal cells were harvested and cultured on (1) grade 4 titanium disc (control group) and (2) yttrium-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (experimental group). cDNA microarrays were used to monitor expression of 21575 genes in both control and experimental groups. Cell proliferation activity was evaluated through MTT assay and SEM was used to visualize the progression of osteoblast culture. ALP activity was also measured to evaluate cell differentiation rates. The optical densities of blue formazan produced by bone marrow stromal cells on titanium and zirconia surfaces were not significantly different in the results of MTT assays. SEM examination revealed that cells were well spread and attached on both surfaces. Cells cultured on titanium and zirconia showed similar ALP activities, while cDNA microarrays indicated that the expression profiles of cells in control and experimental groups were similar. Zirconia proved comparable to titanium in terms of biological response and as a substrate for the growth of bone marrow stromal cells.

<P>A persistent problem with solution processes is dissolution of the first deposited layer by the solution of the second deposited layer. Because the energy barrier between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) levels of Poly[(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-(4,4-(N-(4-s-butylphenyl)diphenylamine)] (TFB) used as a first hole transporting layer (HTL) and poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-co-benzothiadiazole) (F8BT) used as a light-emitting layer (EML) is so large, poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) was inserted as a second HTL between TFB and F8BT to facilitate hole injection from the TFB layer into the F8BT layer. In this paper, we demonstrate the effect of bilayer HTLs in solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using thermally-annealed TFB. The characteristics of OLEDs with HTLs, with and without thermally annealed TFB, are compared. The maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of an OLED, with thermally-annealed TFB and spin-coated PVK on the TFB used as bilayer HTLs, increases significantly to 0.617%, whereas the EQE of the OLED, without thermally annealed TFB and PVK spin-coated directly on the as-coated TFB, is greatly reduced to 0.195%. This result indicates that insertion of PVK between thermally annealed TFB and F8BT layers can facilitate easy hole injection from the TFB layer into the F8BT layer and enhance OLED performance.</P>
Mapping vertical bridge deformations to track geometry for high-speed railway

Running safety and ride comfort of high speed railway largely depend on the track geometry that is dependent on the bridge deformation. This study presents a theoretical study on mapping the bridge vertical deformations to the change of track geometry. Analytical formulae are derived through the theoretical analysis to quantify the track geometry change, and validated against the finite element analysis and experimental data. Based on the theoretical formulae, parametric studies are conducted to evaluate the effects of key parameters on the track geometry of a high speed railway. The results show that the derived formulae provide reasonable prediction of the track geometry change under various bridge vertical deformations. The rail deflection increases with the magnitude of bridge pier settlement and vertical girder fault. Increasing the stiffness of the fasteners or mortar layer tends to cause a steep rail deformation curve, which is undesired for the running safety and ride comfort of high-speed railway.

A newly discovered alkaline antifungal protease named P6 from Bacillus subtilis N7 was purified and partially characterized. B. subtilis N7 culture filtrates were purified by 30–60% (NH4)2SO4 precipitation, anion-exchange chromatography and gel filtration chromatography. Sodium dodecyl sulfatepolyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) revealed a single band of 41.38 kDa. Peptide sequence of protease P6 was determined using a 4800 Plus MALDI TOF/TOFTM Analyzer System. Self-Formed Adaptor PCR (SEFA-PCR) was used to amplify the 1,149 bp open read frame of P6. Dimensional structure prediction using Automatic Modeling Mode software showed that the protease P6 consisted of two β-barrel domains. Purified P6 strongly inhibited spore and mycelium growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerium (FOC) by causing hypha lysis when the concentration was 25 μg/ml. Characterization of the purified protease indicated that it had substrate specificity for gelatin and was highly active at pH 8.0–10.6 and 70°C. The P6 protease was inhibited by EDTA (2 mmol/L), phenyl methyl sulfonyl fluoride (PMSF, 1 mmol/L), Na+, Fe3+, Cu2+, Mg2+ (5 mmol/L each) and H2O2 (2%, v/v). However, protease activity was activated by Ca2+, K+, Mn2+ (5 mmol/L each), mercaptoethanol (2%, v/v) and Tween 80 (1%, v/v). In additon, activity was also affected by organic solvents such as acetone, normal butanol and ethanol, but not hexane (25%, v/v each).
