Vol.0 No.83

Comparative advertising compares explicitly or implicitly a product or service with that of a competitor. Recently, the effectiveness of comparative advertising has been the focus of several empirical, studies. However, previous research has yielded mixed results about the relative influence of ad attitude and brand cognition on brand attitude in comparative advertising, In the present study, we investigate the influences of ad attitude and brand cognition on brand attitude. Moreover, this study especially compares the relative influence of ad attitude and brand cognition on brand attitude between two product types: hedonic products and functional products. Research results show that brand attitude is significantly influenced by ad attitude and brand cognition. Research outcomes also illustrate that ad attitude plays a relatively more dominant role in determining brand attitude for hedonic products than for functional products. However, the influence of brand cognition on brand attitude is not significantly different between hedonic products and functional products.

결합조직형성 법랑모세포종의 방사선학적 소견 : 증례보고 3례

        최다혜,허경회,문제운,이원진,허민석,이삼선,최순철,박관수 대한구강악안면방사선학회 2006 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.37 No.1

Desmoplastic ameloblastoma is a rare histologic variant of ameloblastoma. It shows important differences in anatomic distribution, histologic appearance, and radiographic findings compared with the general type of ameloblastoma. It is histologically characterized by an abundance of densely collagenous stroma and radiographically a mixed radiolucent-radiopaque lesion. We present three cases of desmoplastic ameloblastoma. All the patients complained on buccal swelling with or without pain and the sites of occurrence were the anterior and the premolar region. Plain radiographs showed mixed radiopaque-radiolucent lesion with ill-defined or diffuse sclerotic margin and no external root resorption. Additionally, CT scans revealed buccal expansion and relatively well-defined margin of the lesions. The clinical and radiographic features of the presented cases were compared with those of the desmoplastic ameloblastoma in the previous literatures. Cathepsin D deficiency delays central nervous system myelination by inhibiting proteolipid protein trafficking from late endosome/lysosome to plasma membrane

        Da-Zhi Guo,Lin Xiao,Yi-Jun Liu,Chen Shen,Hui-Fang Lou,Yan Lv,Shu-Yi Pan 생화학분자생물학회 2018 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.50 No.-

This study aimed to investigate the role of cathepsin D (CathD) in central nervous system (CNS) myelination and its possible mechanism. By using CathD knockout mice in conjunction with immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry and western blot assays, the myelination of the CNS and the development of oligodendrocyte lineage cells in vivo and in vitro were observed. Endocytosis assays, real-time-lapse experiments and total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy were used to demonstrate the location and movement of proteolipid protein in oligodendrocyte lineage cells. In addition, the relevant molecular mechanism was explored by immunoprecipitation. The increase in Fluoromyelin Green staining and proteolipid protein expression was not significant in the corpus callosum of CathD−/− mice at the age of P11, P14 and P24. Proteolipid protein expression was weak at each time point and was mostly accumulated around the nucleus. The number of oligodendrocyte lineage cells (olig2+) and mature oligodendrocytes (CC1+) significantly decreased between P14 and P24. In the oligodendrocyte precursor cell culture of CathD−/− mice, the morphology of myelin basic protein-positive mature oligodendrocytes was simple while oligodendrocyte precursor cells showed delayed differentiation into mature oligodendrocytes. Moreover, more proteolipid protein gathered in late endosomes/lysosomes (LEs/Ls) and fewer reached the plasma membrane. Immunohistochemistry and immunoelectron microscopy analysis showed that CathD, proteolipid protein and VAMP7 could bind with each other, whereas VAMP7 and proteolipid protein colocalized with CathD in late endosome/lysosome. The findings of this paper suggest that CathD may have an important role in the myelination of CNS, presumably by altering the trafficking of proteolipid protein.

Isolation and Characterization of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum BCBR-583 for Probiotic Applications in Fermented Foods

        ( Da Hye Yi ),( You-tae Kim ),( Chul-hong Kim ),( Young-sup Shin ),( Ju-hoon Lee ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2018 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.28 No.11

Recent human gut microbiome studies have supported that the genus Bifidobacterium is one of the most beneficial bacteria for human intestinal health. To develop a new probiotic strain for functional food applications, fourteen fecal samples were collected from healthy Koreans and the strain BCBR-583 was newly selected and isolated from a 25-year-old Korean woman’s fecal sample using the selective medium for Bifidobacterium. Subsequent fructose-6-phosphate phosphoketolase (F6PPK) test and 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis of the strain BCBR-583 confirmed that it belongs to B. longum subsp. longum. The stress resistance tests showed that it has oxygen and heat tolerance activities (5- and 3.9-fold increase for 24 h at 60 and 120 rpm, respectively; 78.61 ± 6.67% survival rate at 45°C for 24 h). In addition, gut environment adaptation tests revealed that this strain may be well-adapted in the gut habitat, with gastric acid/bile salt resistance (85.79 ± 1.53%, survival rate under 6 h treatments of gastric acid and bile salt) and mucin adhesion (73.72 ± 7.36%). Furthermore, additional tests including cholesterol lowering assay showed that it can reduce 86.31 ± 1.85% of cholesterol. Based on these results, B. longum BCBR-583 has various stress resistance for survival during food processing and environmental adaptation activities for dominant survival in the gut, suggesting that it could be a good candidate for fermented food applications as a new probiotic strain.

Sensitive change of iso-branched fatty acid (iso-15:0) in Bacillus pumilus PAMC 23174 in response to environmental changes

        Yi, Da-Hye,Sathiyanarayanan, Ganesan,Seo, Hyung Min,Kim, Jung-Ho,Bhatia, Shashi Kant,Kim, Yun-Gon,Park, Sung-Hee,Jung, Ji-Young,Lee, Yoo Kyung,Yang, Yung-Hun Springer-Verlag 2016 BIOPROCESS AND BIOSYSTEMS ENGINEERING Vol.39 No.1

In this study, the environmental adaptive metabolic processes were investigated using a psychrotrophic polar bacterium Bacillus pumilus PAMC 23174 in response to various temperatures and nutrients, especially in regard to the synthesis of fatty acids. Fatty acid methyl ester analysis was performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and we found that a sensitive changes in iso-branched fatty acid (iso-15:0) synthesis occurred when adjusting the nutritional ratio of branched chain fatty acids (anteiso/iso) with different temperatures, resulting in a change in the balance of anteiso- and iso-form fatty acids. We also observed that this Arctic bacterium preferred amino acid leucine for the synthesis of fatty acids. The increased and decreased synthesis of iso-form fatty acids in response to different temperatures and leucine preference, changes the fatty acid ratio in bacteria, which further affects the membrane fluidity and it is also directly correlated with survival of bacteria in an extreme environment. Hence, this study suggests that B. pumilus PAMC 23174 is a potential model organism for the analysis of the unique ecological adaptations of polar bacteria in changing and the extreme environments.

Structural Properties of MgO Films Deposited on Si(100) Substrates by Using a Combined RF Magnetron Sputtering and Sol-Gel Process

Yi Da Yang,김홍승,장낙원,윤영 한국물리학회 2017 New Physics: Sae Mulli Vol.67 No.2

The structural properties of MgO films deposited on Si(100) substrates by combining RF sputtering and the sol-gel process were investigated. The films' orientation properties, thicknesses and the surface morphologies were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). X-ray diffraction and surface morphology showed that the structures of the films varied with annealing temperature. Crystallizations of (111)-preferentially-oriented MgO films deposited on Si(100) substrates with a MgO buffer layer were easily observed after the samples had been annealed at temperatures above 700 $^\circ$C. However, the structural properties of the MgO films deposited on MgO buffer layers were almost the same, regardless of the existence of the MgO buffer layer.

      • E-Selectin S128R Polymorphism is Associated with Cancer Risk: a Meta-analysis

Cheng, Da-Ye,Hao, Yi-Wen,Zhou, Wen-Ling,Ma, Yi-Ran Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7

Background: Genetic factors have been shown to play an important role in the development of cancers. However, individual studies may fail to completely demonstrate complicated genetic relationships because of small sample size. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the association of E-selectin Ser128Arg (S128R) with cancer risk. Materials and Methods: A literature search in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Science Direct, SpringerLink, EBSCO, Wanfang, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure databases was carried out to identify studies of the association between E-selectin S128R polymorphism and cancer risk. The odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were used to assess the strength of association. Results: A total of eight studies involving 1,675 cancer cases and 2,285 controls were included in the meta-analysis. In overall populations, S128R polymorphism seemed to be associated with cancer risk (Arg allele vs Ser allele: OR=1.65, 95%CI =1.33-2.04, p<0.01; Arg/Arg+Arg/Ser vs Ser/Ser: OR=1.87, 95%CI =1.48-2.36, p<0.01; Arg/Ser vs Ser/Ser: OR=1.80, 95%CI =1.51-2.14, p<0.01). Similarly, subgroup analysis by ethnicity and source of control also revealed that this polymorphism was related to cancer risk. Conclusions: Our meta-analysis revealed that there was association between the E-selectin S128R polymorphism and the risk of cancer. Further large and well-designed studies are needed to confirm this association.

Fabrication of in situ alkali doped flexible CIGSSe solar cells by using aqueous spray deposition

        Jung Da-Yi,Jeong Yu-Ra,Mina Md Salahuddin,Lee Si-Eun,Enkhbayar Enkhjargal,Kim JunHo 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.41 No.-

Flexible Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 (CIGSSe) solar cells were fabricated on stainless steel foil by using aqueous spray deposition method. Since stainless steel foil is used, external alkali doping is necessary to passivate defects in CIGSSe absorber. We investigated effects of (Na, K) co-doping and selenization temperature on solar cell performance. With co-doping of Na and K, defect states were passivated significantly and highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) was obtained. However, at higher K concentration of more than 0.5%, different growth mode of CIGSSe was observed and deep defect states were developed, decreasing PCE. In addition, selenization temperature effects were studied by varying selenization temperatures. With higher selenization temperature, defect passivation for the CIGSSe absorber was more apparent, which facilitated increase of open circuit voltage. However, short circuit current was observed to be decreased at higher selenization temperature of 570 ◦C. This work demonstrates in-situ alkali co-doping into CIGSSe absorber with simple and low-cost spray deposition in an air environment.

      • Characterization of Protein Arginine Methyltransferases in Porcine Brain

Hung, Chien-Jen,Chen, Da-Huang,Shen, Yi-Ting,Li, Yi-Chen,Lin, Yi-Wei,Hsieh, Mingli,Li, Chuan Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.5

Protein arginine methylation is a posttranslational modification involved in various cellular functions including cell signaling, protein subcellular localization and transcriptional regulation. We analyze the protein arginine methyltransferases (PRMTs) that catalyze the formation of methylarginines in porcine brain. We fractionated the brain extracts and determined the PRMT activities as well as the distribution of different PRMT proteins in subcellular fractions of porcine brain. The majority of the type I methyltransferase activities that catalyze the formation of asymmetric dimethylarginines was in the cytosolic S3 fraction. High specific activity of the methyltransferase was detected in the S4 fraction (high-salt stripping of the ultracentrifugation precipitant P3 fraction), indicating that part of the PRMT was peripherally associated with membrane and ribosomal fractions. The amount and distribution of PRMT1 are consistent with the catalytic activity. The elution patterns from gel filtration and anion exchange chromatography also indicate that the type I activity in S3 and S4 are mostly from PRMT1. Our results suggest that part of the type I arginine methyltransferases in brains, mainly PRMT1, are sequestered in an inactive form as they associated with membranes or large subcellular complexes. Our biochemical analyses confirmed the complex distribution of different PRMTs and implicate their regulation and catalytic activities in brain.
