This study was conducted to identify the best combinations of factors(template DNA concentration, MgCl2 concentration, and amount of taq polymerase) for the optimization of PCR in gourd. 3×3×3 factorial experiment for template DNA concentration, MgCl2 concentration, and amount of taq polymerase was conducted. Another factorial experiment for denature, annealing, extension temperature on the optimal PCR condition was also conducted. The most clear and reproducible bands were appeared in 40ng(1unit taq polymerase and 2.5mM MgCl2, and lunit taq polymerase and 4.5mM MgCl2, 1unit taq polymerase and 7.0mM MgCl2), 60ng(0.5unit taq polymerase and 2.5mM MgCl2, 0.5unit taq polymerase and 4.5mM MgCl2, 1unit taq polymerase and 2.5mM MgCl2, 1unit taq polymerase and 4.5mM MgCl2, and 1unit taq polymerase and 7.0mM MgCl2). The best MgCl2 concentration was 4.5mM(40ng template DNA and 1unit taq polymerase, 60ng template DNA and 0.5unit taq polymerase, and 60ng template DNA and lunit taq polymerase), and 7.0mM(40ng template DNA and 0.5unit taq polymerase DNA). The combinations which showed the best bands from the amount of taq polymerase were 0.5unit(60ng template DNA and 4.5mM MgCl2) and lunit(40ng template DNA and 2.5mM MgCl2, 40ng template DNA and 4.5mM MgCl2, 40ng template DNA and 7.0mM MgCl2, 60ng template DNA and 2.5mM MgCl2, 60ng template DNA and 4.5mM MgCl2, 60ng template DNA and 7.0mM MgCl2). When we consider results from template DNA concentration, MgCl2 concentration, and amount of taq polymerase, 1 condition(40ng of template DNA, 4.5mM MgCl2 and 1unit taq polymerase) was the best combination for the optimal PCR condition. Reaction temperatures for the optimal PCR condition were 84℃, 32℃, 62℃ and 86℃, 35℃, 64℃.

The following conclusions have been obtained in a comparative study of the physical fitness of yacht racers and the students enrolled in the department of Physical Education. 1. The yacht racers are taller than the students of Physical Education by 9.1cm. The statistical variance is p<0.1, indicating no significance difference. The weight of the yacht racers is higher than of the students by 4.5kg with no statistical significance difference. 2. The subcutaneous fat in the yacht racer's upper arm triceps brachia is thinner than that of the students by 0.46mm and the fat in the subscapula of the yacht racers is also thinner by 0.67mm. There is no significance difference. 3. The abdominal subcutaneous fat of the yacht racers is thicker than that of the students by 1.25mm. 4. The righthand grip strength of the yacht racers is 5.83 kg and 4.66kg for the lefthand, both higher than those of the students of Physical Education. The back strength of the yacht racers is higher than that of the students by 10.4kg with no significance difference. Such findings can be attributed to the fact that yacht racers are naturally developing their grip strength of both hands as they are trained to pull the sheet to make a turn or to sustain the balance of the run of boat in high waves or winds. 5. The students of Physical Education do 3.9 times more chin-ups than the yacht racers, and in a 100 m race the students of Physical Education run faster by 0.88 second, showing large significance difference. Such findings indicate that the reason for the better muscle strength and better performance in speed events of the students of Physical Education can be the fact that students are required and trained all-round exercises on land. However, the yacht racers do mostly upper limbs exercises in small cock pits. This draws a conclusion that the yacht racers need also more all-round exercises than the restricted strength and such combined training can contribute to the competence of the yacht races.

Rhabdomyolysis may be defined as a clinical and laboratory syndrome which releases muscle cell contents into the plasma, such as creatine phosphokinase, due to skeletal muscle injuries. It can be the result of many diverse causes including muscle disease, ischemia, genetic disorder, metabolic disorder, infectious disease, drugs, comatose state, trauma or vigorous exercise that can lead to acute renal failure as a complication. Since first reported in 1941, rhabdomyolysis-induced acute renal failure has been documented many times, and the major causes of this disease are carbon monoxide poisoning, snake bites, and etc in Korea Reports of acute renal failure after exercise-related rhabdomyolysis with myoglobinemia are rare. We report a case of acute renal failure caused by exercise-related rhabdomyolysis in a 20 year old man.

Tuberculosis of duodenum is so rare and is usually secondary to pulmonary or intestinal tuberculosis . It is difficult to diagnose duodenal tuberculosis in clinical and radiologic findings due to its non-specific symptoms and inconsistent lesion. The diagnosis was made on the basis of the histological study of the endoscopic biopsy and resected surgical specimen. so we report a case of tuberculosis of duodenal bulb and of ascending colon with, the brief review of the literatures.

Monitoring of Land-Cover Moisture Using Multi-Temporal Sar Images

SAR image is not dependent on the weather condition and Sun`s electromagnetic energy. But geometric distortions exist in almost all radar image, it need to be correction. The Radarsat-1 SAR images are used to monitoring of moisture acquired in May 1/1998 and May 25/1998. Radarsat-1 C band data is sensitive on moisture condition. Study area is located in Non-san site. It is made up almost agricultural area and a little of forest area. In May, Rice-planting is started in the midland of Korea. So moisture condition is undergoing many changes. Forest area need to be terrain effect removal for accurately results because it is included in layover, shadow, and so on. Results of land-cover moisture condition map are useful tool for fields of agriculture, forestry industry, and disaster.

Administration of Zinc plus Cyclo-(His-Pro) Increases Hippocampal Neurogenesis in Rats during the Early Phase of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes

<P>The effects of zinc supplementation on hippocampal neurogenesis in diabetes mellitus have not been studied. Herein, we investigated the effects of zinc plus cyclo-(His-Pro) (ZC) on neurogenesis occurring in the subgranular zone of dentate gyrus after streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes. ZC (27 mg/kg) was administered by gavage once daily for one or six weeks from the third day after the STZ injection, and histological evaluation was performed at 10 (early phase) or 45 (late phase) days after STZ injection. We found that the proliferation of progenitor cells in STZ-induced diabetic rats showed an increase in the early phase. Additionally, ZC treatment remarkably increased the number of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) and immature neurons in the early phase of STZ-induced diabetic rats. Furthermore, ZC treatment showed increased survival rate of newly generated cells but no difference in the level of neurogenesis in the late phase of STZ-induced diabetic rats. The present study demonstrates that zinc supplementation by ZC increases both NPCs proliferation and neuroblast production at the early phase of diabetes. Thus, this study suggests that zinc supplemented with a histidine/proline complex may have beneficial effects on neurogenesis in patients experiencing the early phase of Type 1 diabetes.</P>

택시의 최대 수익을 위한 최적의 운행 속도 분석

본 논문에서는 유료 운송시스템의 대표적인 예로 택시를 가정하여, 최대 수익을 위한 최적의 운행속도를 분석하였다. 본 분석에서는 손님의 분포는 택시가 이동하는 방향으로 지수분포로 존재한다고 가정하였고, 택시가 이동 중에 손님이 있는 위치에 도달할 때에 택시에 손님을 태워 이동하도록 하였다. 또한 손님이 택시를 기다리는 시간을 계산하여, 손님이 있는 위치까지 택시가 당도하지 못하면 손님의 위치를 재 분포하도록 하였으며, 이에 다른 택시의 움직임도 가상적으로 연동시켰다. 손님이 없을 때의 평균 운행속도를 0km/h부터 80km/h까지 시속을 10km/h씩 늘려가며 분석하였으며 연비는 LPG차량의 평균 연비를 적용하였으며, 요금 또한 실제의 예를 적용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 택시의 속도가 높을수록 손님을 태우는 확률이 높아지나, 손님의 분포간격에 따라 수익금에는 차이가 난다는 것을 확인 하였으며, 이를 기반으로 하여 최대 수익을 위한 최적의 속도를 구하였다. In this paper, we analyze the optimum moving speed of taxi for maximum revenue. In the analysis, we assume that passengers are distributed exponentially along with the direction as taxi moves. When the taxi arrives at the location of a passenger within the predetermined time limit, the passenger gets in the taxi. Otherwise, we assume that the passenger leaves the location and the taxi does not meet the passenger. We vary taxi speed from 0km/h through 80km/h to see how revenue of a taxi varies, applying the average gas mileage of LPG taxis in Korea. From the results of the analysis, we see that the probability that a taxi meets passengers goes high as taxi speed gets fast, however the revenue starts to fall after the maximum point of revenue at the optimum speed, since fuel cost gets dominant.
