An investigation was carried out to study the effect of an air-to-air heat pipe heat exchanger on the energy recovery and dehumidification enhancement of the air conditioning system in tropical climates. For this purpose, the performance of a heat pipe heat exchanger, which was experiencing tropical ambient air in its evaporator section and fan coil unit, was monitored during one week of operation (168hours) to find out the relevant performance characteristic curves. Then, empirical equations, which were extracted from the performance characteristic curves, were employed for the hour-by-hour prediction of energy recovery by the heat pipe heat exchanger and dehumidification for the whole year using TRNSYS software. The investigation showed that the heat pipe heat exchanger can pay for itself in 1.9years. Moreover, it was shown that the dehumidification capability of the cooling coil can enhance up to 6% with the added heat pipe heat exchanger.

Throughout the development of contemporary music, fusion and transformation has played an important part. In exploring new sound that represents the contemporary era, musical materials from different periods or cultures were often brought together in the composition process, and these materials were combined, transformed, and presented in many different novel ways. For many Asian contemporary composers, one of their main concerns in creating contemporary music is to find an effective way to incorporate traditional musical cultures into their compositions, in order that the Asian cultural identity might be reinforced. During the past few decades, a wide range of approaches were explored: these include synthesizing musical styles, blending of Eastern and Western instrumental timbres, writing program music based on Asian literatures, and realizing Eastern philosophical or aesthetical thoughts by Western ensembles. In using these approaches, composers have not only been reflecting on their own musical tradition, but also opened up new possibilities for their artistic endeavors. This paper aims to examine how fusion and transformation has played an important part in the creative process of Hong Kong contemporary compositions since 1990. Works by composers including Richard Tsang, Wing-wah Chan, Victor Chan and Joshua Chan are used as examples to illustrate how non-western musical elements and culture are incorporated into their compositions, in order to create contemporary music with distinctive Asian flavor.

A 44-year-old woman with progressive cervical myelopathy and central cord syndrome was noted to have an extensive cervical intramedullary contrast-enhancing lesion on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The lesion resembled a spinal astrocytoma or ependymoma that required surgical intervention. She was subsequently diagnosed to have neuromyelitis optica (NMO), a rare idiopathic inflammatory demyelinating disorder, when the clinical examination revealed left optic atrophy. This was confirmed by a test showing seropositivity for NMO-immunoglobulin (IgG). Disease control was achieved with corticosteroids and immunosuppressive therapy. We report a rare case of a patient with NMO who had MRI features that could have easily led to the condition being misdiagnosed as a spinal cord tumor. The importance of careful history taking, awareness of typical radiological findings and the usefulness of serum NMO-IgG as a diagnostic tool are emphasized.
Leaving a Spiritual Legacy for the Family in Mongolia: Starting from Scratch
( Sally Lam Phoon ),( Chek Yat Phoon ) 삼육대학교 선교와사회문제연구소 2015 Asia-Africa Journal of Mission and Ministry(AAMM) Vol.12 No.-
Mongolia has experienced drastic economic and political changes within the last century that has shaped the current mindsets of the city dwellers, Mongolia Mission’s audience for evangelism. In 1992, when the country was going through a most turbulent time with high unemployment and a lack of food, three Adventist Mission Frontier missionaries began the work. Their diligence resulted in the official registration of the church in 1997, with a chartered membership of 16 members in October. From these humble beginnings, the church has grown to 2,013 members by the end of 2014. In 2005, the Family Ministries Department was officially formed and this paper will document the attempts of the Mongolian Church and the Northern Asia-Pacific Division to strengthen family ministries in Mongolia where the pastors had no idea about family in the first place. It has been an interesting journey over the past 10 years, working with the pastors and lay leaders on a Biblical understanding of family, and what it means to pass on our spiritual legacy to the next generation and generations to come so that the mission of the church can be sustained and carried on till Jesus comes. After all, as Ellen White emphasized, the Christian family is the light to the world.
Automatic Recognition of Emotion based on a Cognitively Motivated Emotion Annotation System
( Ying Chen ),( Sophia Yat Mei Lee ),( Chu Ren Huang ) 서울대학교 인지과학연구소 2011 Journal of Cognitive Science Vol.12 No.3
Emotion recognition is very important for the extraction of expressive information. In this paper, we provide a robust and versatile emotion annotation scheme that can not only annotate explicit and implicit expressions of emotion, but also can encode different levels of information for a given emotion content. In addition, taking cognitive psychologists` theories into account, large and comparatively high-quality emotion corpora are automatically created to allow for emotion recognition in Chinese and English. Our annotation scheme can easily be adapted for different kinds of applications dealing with emotion, and, being generic, can also be applied to other languages, We also discuss the two kinds of emotion representations used in our corpus, namely, holistic and componential representations, We find that the two representations have their own qualities and shortcomings and that choosing between them ultimately depends mainly on the application type.
