Pharmacologic inhibitors of the prostaglandin-synthesizing COX-2 oncogene prevent the development of premalignant human colon adenomas. However, resistance to treatment is common. In this study, we show that the adenoma prevention activity of the COX-2 inhibitor celecoxib requires the concomitant presence of the 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH) tumor suppressor gene, and that loss of 15-PGDH expression imparts resistance to celecoxib's anti-tumor effects. We first demonstrate that the adenoma-preventive activity of celecoxib is abrogated in mice genetically lacking 15-PGDH. In FVB mice, celecoxib prevents 85% of azoxymethane-induced tumors >1 mm in size, but is essentially inactive in preventing tumor induction in 15-PGDH-null animals. Indeed, celecoxib treated 15-PGDH null animals develop more tumors than do celecoxib naive WT mice. In parallel with the loss of tumor prevention activity, celecoxib-mediated suppression of colonic PGE(2) levels is also markedly attenuated in 15-PGDH-null versus WT mice. Finally, as predicted by the murine models, humans with low colonic 15-PGDH levels also exhibit celecoxib resistance. Specifically, in a colon adenoma prevention trial, in all cases tested, individuals who developed new adenomas while receiving celecoxib treatment were also found as having low colonic 15-PGDH levels.

Carbon nanodots (C-dots), as a class of heavy-metal-free fluorescent nonmaterial have drawn increasing attention due to their strong photoluminescence (PL), good biocompatibility and low toxicity. Herein, we synthesize nontoxic fluorescent C-dots by hydrothermal treatment of the mixture of glucose and taurine, in which process the formation and the surface passivation of C-dots take place simultaneously. The influence of reaction temperature, reaction time and feed ratio of glucose to taurine on the PL property of C-dots is studied. As the C-dots exhibit sensitive pH and iron ion dependent PL property, they can be used for pH and Fe3+ sensing in solutions.
An Analysis of China Coal Resource Tax Reform and its Implications on Resource Saving
( Yanmin He ) 한국환경경제학회·한국자원경제학회(구 한국환경경제학회) 2017 한국환경경제학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.2017 No.경제학 공동
As a traditional and feasible policy instrument, taxation is regarded for dealing with energy issues in politics and governance. This paper focused on the coal resource tax in China as an example of the energy tax and analyzed the impacts of the tax system on fiscal revenue, resource conservation, and energy savings for the period of 1994-2011. Based on this analysis, this paper discussed the goals and challenges of the 2011 coal resource tax reform, which changed the tax system from a volume-based system to a fixed-rate ad valorem one based on sales.
New stability analysis for generalized neural networks with interval time-varying delays

This paper deals with the problem of delay-dependent stability for neural networks with interval timevaryingdelays. First, we divided delay interval into two parts. Second, a new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional isconstructed, and relationships between the augmented state vectors have been fully considered, which may yieldless conservative results. Third, based on free-matrix-based integral inequality method and reciprocally convextechnique, some new less conservative delay-dependent stability criteria have been obtained by combining with thenew Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. Finally, two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of thederived conditions over the existing ones.
On Deploying Relays for Connected Indoor Sensor Networks

This paper considers the crucial problem of deployingwireless relays for achieving a connected wireless sensor networkin indoor environments, an important aspect related to the managementof the sensor network. Several algorithms have been proposedfor ensuring full sensing coverage and network connectivity. These algorithms are not applicable to indoor environments becauseof the complexity of indoor environments, in which a radiosignal can be dramatically degraded by obstacles such as walls.Wefirst prove theoretically that the indoor relay placement problem isNP-hard. We then predict the radio coverage of a given relay deploymentin indoor environments. We consider two practical scenarios;wire-connected relays and radio-connected relays. For thenetwork with wire-connected relays, we propose an efficient greedyalgorithmto compute the deployment locations of relays for achievingthe required coverage percentage. This algorithm is proved toprovide a Hn factor approximation to the theoretical optimum, whereHn = 1+ 12 +· · ·+ 1n = ln(n)+1, and n is the number ofall grid points. In the network with radio-connected relays, relayshave to be connected in an ad hoc mode. We then propose an algorithmbased on the previous algorithm for ensuring the connectivityof relays. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposedalgorithms achieve better performance than baseline algorithms.
Optimization of Stamping Process Parameters Based on Improved GA-BP Neural Network Model

Reasonable process parameters are the key measures to ensure the quality of stamping products. In order to reduce the risk of cracking and wrinkling of stamping products, an improved genetic algorithm is proposed and used to optimize the weights and thresholds of the BP neural network(BPNN). A surrogate model combining an improved genetic algorithm and BPNN(IGA-BPNN)is developed. Taking double C as the research object, the training samples and test samples are extracted through Latin hypercube. The training output of IGA-BPNN model is obtained by AutoForm simulation, and the mapping relationship between process parameters and forming quality is established. Then the mapping relationship is optimized by IGA to obtain the optimal process parameters. The results show that this method reduces the wrinkling of the flange edge of double C and obviously improves the forming quality.
