The present study aims at investigating the use of hedges and boosters in Korean research article abstracts of five academic disciplines. Hedges and boosters are linguistic forms that encode the uncertainty and the definite attitude of the writer or speaker. These expressions do not contribute to the composition of the propositional contents in academic discourse, but they are linguistic devices that express the epistemic stance of the writer or the speaker. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a corpus was constructed by selecting 40 abstracts in each academic field, and the use of hedges and boosters was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the analysis results, the pedagogical implications of writing abstracts were discussed. Firstly, Korean learners for academic purposes should understand the interpersonality in the abstracts of research articles. Secondly, the differences in the use of hedges and boosters between different disciplines should be taken into account in teaching research article abstract writing. Lastly, it is necessary to teach different linguistic forms of hedges and boosters, and the locations where they are used in the abstract moves. (Sun Yat-sen University)

The CRISPR-Cas system is a microbial adaptive and heritable immune system, of which mechanism relies on the effector ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex to degrade foreign genetic elements. The effector surveillance complex of the Type III-A CRISPR-Cas system has five Csm components, Csm1~Csm5. The Csm5 protein is placed in the crRNA 3 ends in the effector RNP complex, leading to speculations that crRNA maturation may be catalyzed by the Csm5 subunit. However, the crystal structure and the detailed function of Csm5 still remain elusive. In this study, the Csm5 from Thermococcus onnurineus NA1 was purified and crystallized by the sitting drop method in the condition of 20% w/v PEG 8000 and 100 mM CHES/sodium hydroxide pH 9.5 at 291K. The diffraction data were collected to a resolution of 3.5 Å. The crystal belonged to space group P4 3 2 1 2, with unit cell parameters a=81.0 Å, b=81.0 Å, c=169.1 Å. One protomer was presented in the asymmetric unit with a corresponding V M of 2.10 Å 3 Da -1 and solvent content of 50%.

With its rapid development and popularization, people have entered the era of the Internet which is the main platform for the development of public opinion. Through the research of public awareness that can directly reflect the public opinion, it can be found that there is a substitution and the superposition effect. Yet the events of existing substitution and superposition effect are not the general public opinion events, it is found that this kind of effect exists in multiple public opinion events.

Diabetes can impair neovascularization important for wound healing, and this study investigated the hypothesis that this effect can be reversed by an active provisional matrix. Here, a 3D collagen scaffold and uncultured adipose-derived SVFs were firstly utilized to construct a collagen-targeting system for wound healing in a diabetic porcine model. The diabetic porcine models were made by injected streptozocin (STZ) intravenously and removed full thickness skin from the dorsum. Each animal received four different samples: Group A (control groups, n=24), Group B (SVFs groups, n=24), Group C (scaffold groups, n=24), Group D (SVFs -scaffold groups, n=24). PBS was applied to the wounds in Group A. 1×105 SVFs suspended in PBS were sprayed on the wounds in Group B. Scaffolds only with PBS were covered on the wounds in Group C. Scaffolds with equal volume of cell suspension containing 1×105 SVFs were covered on the wounds in Group D. The healing rates were calculated and compared among the groups and the tissues of the wound were taken and evaluated for histological analysis. The diabetic wound treated with the SVFs -collagen scaffold showed a significant decrease in wound size, an increase of neovascularization and a maximum VEGF and bFGF expression in comparison with SVFs and scaffold alone. The SVFs-collagen scaffold accelerates wound healing since it stimulates higher capillary formation causes major proangiogenesis factors expression in diabetic pigs suffering from skin defects, suggesting this approach could have utility for diabetic wound healing.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Timing of almond intake during a day may result differently in the perspectives of body composition and changes of lipid profile. The current study was conducted to compare the effects of daily almond intake as a preload versus as a snack on body composition, blood lipid profile, and oxidative and inflammation indicators among young Korean adults aged 20-39 years old. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups: a pre-meal almond group (PM), a snack almond group (SN) in which participants were instructed to consume 56 g of almonds either as a preload before meals or as a snack between meals, respectively, and a control group (CL) in which participants were provided high-carbohydrate iso-caloric control food. Measurements were performed at baseline, weeks 8 and 16. RESULTS: A total of 169 (M 77 / F 92) out of the 227 participants completed the study between June 2014 and June 2015 (n = 58 for PM; 55 for SN; and 56 for CL). A significant decrease in body fat mass was observed in the PM group at both weeks 8 and 16 compared with the CL. There were significant intervention effects on changes of body fat mass (P = 0.025), body fat percentages (P = 0.019), and visceral fat levels (P < 0.001). Consuming almonds as a daily snack reduced the levels of total cholesterol (P = 0.043) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (P = 0.011) without changing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol compared with the CL. CONCLUSION: Almond consumption as a preload modified body fat percentages, whereas snacking on almonds between meals improved blood lipid profiles. This trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT03014531.
The risk analysis of software projects based on Bayesian Network
Yanan Sun,Rong Cui 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 2009 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 학술대회 Vol.2009 No.10
With the improvingof software technology and the level of project management, the success of software project is not a special case. But this does not mean that software project can be finished easily. In fact, The success ratio of software project is still low. The existing of Software system aim to reducej the uncertainty of practical system, but the process of itself is full of uncertainty. So it is essential to identify and analyze the software risk. Now lots of researches focus on the software project risk analysis, which apply a number of qualitative methods and quantitative methods. But most of methods ignore the dynamic nature of software project, only paying attention to predict in advance or analyze afterwards, which cannot meet the challenge of sorgware project management. So Bayesian network which canprovide real-time analysis is selected to analyze the software project risks. Through literature review and investigation of Chinese software professionals, the paper finds out 12 risk factors. In terms of an ERP project, revising above-mentioned risk factors, according to easy expansibility of topological structure and strong self-learning ability of Bayesian network, the paper uses priori knowledge and posterior knowledge to analyze the risk of the ERP project requirment period. Actual application shows that Bayesian network provide an effective system method for software project risk analysis.
Differences in Functional Fitness Among Older Adults With and Without Risk of Falling
Yanan Zhao,Pak-Kwong Chung 한국간호과학회 2016 Asian Nursing Research Vol.10 No.1
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the differences in functional fitness between older adults who were at risk of falling and those who were not. Methods: A total of 104 older adults aged 65-74 years were recruited from a local community senior center. They were independent older adults without a history of falls in the preceding 12 months. Falling risk status was assessed using the Fall Risk Test. Five dimensions of functional fitness with seven testing parameters (i.e., 30-second chair stand test, 30-second arm curl test, 2-minute step test, chair sit and reach test, back scratch test, 8-foot up and go test, and body mass index) were evaluated by the Senior Fitness Test. Results: Only 78 participants completed all the tests, of which 48 participants were identified with risk of falling, and 30 participants were free from risk of falling. Results from multivariate analysis of variance found significant differences on the combined outcome variables, especially in the 8-foot up and go test, 2-minute step test, and 30-second arm curl test. Results from discriminant analysis found a significant discriminant function among all the seven testing parameters, where the 8-foot up and go test, and the 2-minute step test contributed most. Conclusions: Older adults who are at the early stage of risk of falling tend to have lower functional fitness capacities, especially in agility and dynamic balance, aerobic endurance as well as in a combined relationship among all the testing parameters.

The Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal method and applied for the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (Rh B) under the visible light. The Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The results indicated that the Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were successfully prepared, and Ti-O-C and S-C bonds were existing among Bi2S3, TiO2 as well as RGO. Furthermore, the photocatalytic ability of Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites was excellent under visible light due to its responding to the whole visible light region, low recombination rate of photogenerated electron–hole pairs and relatively negative conduction band. Rh B photocatalytic degradation rate was 99.5% after 50 min and still could reach 98.4% after five cycles. Finally, a formation mechanism as well as a photocatalytic mechanism of Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were proposed based on the experimental results.
