Electrospun Polyamide-6 Nanofiber Hybrid Membranes for Wastewater Treatment
Fatma Yalcinkaya,Baturalp Yalcinkaya,Jakub Hruza 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.1
Electrospun nanofiber hybrid membranes have superior membrane performance due to their high specific surface area, narrow pore size, high porosity, and uniform pore size. Recently, increasing attention has been given to hydrophilic membranes such as polyamide 6 (PA6) in applications microfiltration and reverse osmosis. Electrospun PA6 nanofiber hybrid membranes have not found any real application due to their poor mechanical strength under high pressure. In this study, PA6nanofiber layer was prepared using wire electrospinning method. Three supporting material with different adhesion method has been used to improve the mechanical properties of the membranes. Membranes were characterized with Scanning Electron Microscope images, pore size, and contact angle measurements. Tensile strength and the delamination tests were run to measure the mechanical properties of the membranes. Three types of wastewater were carried out during filtration; using real wastewater supplied from a company which consists of pitch and tar oils, engine oil/water mixture and kitchen oil/water mixture. Results indicated that the adhesion method and the supporting layer played a big role in the permeability of the membranes. The PA6 nanofiber hybrid membranes exhibited high water fluxes in even at low pressures which indicate that electrospun nanofiber membranes might be highly promising for microfiltration applications.

IBRAHIM YALCINKAYA,DURHASAN TURGUT TOLLU 장전수학회 2016 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.26 No.4
In this paper we investigate global asymptotic stability of unique positive equilibrium point of the system of difference equations xn+1 = x n-1ykn +1 / x n-2 +ykn , y n+1 = yn-1 xkn+1 / y n-1 +xkn , n=0, 1, ..., where the parameter k and the initial conditions x-1, x0, y-1, y0 are positive real numbers. Also, we give rate of convergence of a solution which tends to unique positive equilibrium point of the system and some numerical examples which verify our theoretical results.
Blockchain Suitability Assessment of Manufacturing Functions Defined by the ISA95 Standard
Erkan Yalcinkaya,Antonio Maffei 대한산업공학회 2020 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.19 No.4
The number of security incidents related to the manufacturing industry has been steadily increasing over the past decade. The most prominent security risks impacting the manufacturing industry are intellectual property theft, supply chain interruptions, industrial espionage, data breaches, and ransomware attacks. Blockchain is an emerging technology that offers distributed, highly available, resilient, and traceable ledger-based databases and thus opens new ways of dealing with conventional security challenges in the confidentiality, integrity, and availability domains. ISA95 outlines manufacturing functions in a number of areas and characterizes the information flows. Moreover, ISA95 constitutes a common blueprint for the manufacturing industry and this research paper systematically assesses the suitability of the blockchain technology for the ISA95 enterprise core functions and sub-functions as a way to ultimately increase the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of manufacturing systems.

Objective NOD-like receptor protein 1 (NLRP1) inflammasome complex has been recently associated with chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model of depression. Our aim was to investigate whether ketamine-induced antidepressant effect is associated with suppression of NLRP1. Methods Wistar albino rats were divided into control, CUMS, CUMS+acute ketamine (a single 10 mg/kg dose) and CUMS+chronic ketamine (daily 10 mg/kg injections for 3 weeks) groups (n=10 for each group). Sucrose preference test and forced swimming test were performed to assess anhedonia and immobility time respectively for the severety of depression symptoms. Brain tissues were dissected and prefrontal cortex and hippocampus regions were used for real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and immunohistochemical analysis. Results CUMS procedure significantly induced depressive-like symptoms whereas both acute and chronic ketamine treatment ameliorated them. mRNA expression levels of NLRP1, caspase 1, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC), NF-κB, endothelial nitric oxide synthase, IL-1β, IL-6, toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) and purinergic 2×7 receptor (P2X7R) and numbers of Iba- 1+and GFAP+glial cells were reduced by acute and/or chronic ketamine treatment. Conclusion In the present study for the first time upstream and downstream elements of the NLRP1 inflammasome complex are shown to be suppressed by ketamine thus reinforcing the involvement of NLRP1 in the physiopathology of depression.

Background: Many breast cancers are caused by certain rare and familial mutations in the high or moderate penetrance genes BRCA1, BRCA2 and CHEK2. The aim of this study was to examine the allele and genotype frequencies of seven mutations in BRCA1, BRCA2 and CHEK2 genes in breast cancer patients and to investigate their isolated and combined associations with breast cancer risk. Methods: We genotyped seven mutations in BRCA1, BRCA2 and CHEK2 genes and then analyzed single variations and haplotype associations in 106 breast cancer patients and 80 healthy controls. Results: We found significant associations in the analyses of CHEK2- 1100delC (p=0.001) and BRCA1-5382insC (p=0.021) mutations in breast cancer patients compared to controls. The highest risk was observed among breast cancer patients carrying both CHEK2-1100delC and BRCA2- Met784Val mutations (OR=0.093; 95%CI 0.021-0.423; p=0.001). We identified one previously undescribed BRCA2 and a CHEK2 four-marker haplotype of A-C-G-C which was overrepresented ($X^2$=7.655; p=0.0057) in the patient group compared to controls. Conclusion: In this study, we identified a previously undescribed BRCA2 and CHEK2 A-C-G-C haplotype in association with the breast cancer in our population. Our results further suggest that the CHEK2-1100delC mutation in combination with BRCA2-Met784Val may lead to an unexpected high risk which needs to be confirmed in larger cohorts in order to better understand their role in the development and prognosis of breast cancer.

Ellidag, Hamit Yasar,Eren, Esin,Aydin, Ozgur,Akgol, Evren,Yalcinkaya, Soner,Sezer, Cem,Yilmaz, Necat Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5
Background: Impaired oxidative/antioxidative status plays an important role in the pathogenesis of many diseases like cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of the novel marker ischemia modified albumin (IMA) and albumin adjusted-IMA (Adj-IMA) in patients with bladder cancer (BC) as well as its association with total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS) and oxidative stress index (OSI). Materials and Methods: Forty male patients with BC (mean age, $67.4{\pm}12$ years) and forty age-sex matched healthy persons (mean age $56.0{\pm}1.7$ years) were included in this study. Serum levels of IMA, TAS, TOS were analyzed and Adj- IMA and OSI was calculated. Results: Serum IMA, TOS and OSI values were significantly higher in patients with BC compared to controls (p<0.0001, p=0.01 and p=0.01, respectively), whereas TAS was significantly lower in BC patients (p=0.04). There was no significant difference for serum albumin-adjusted IMA levels between groups (p=0.4). Conclusions: In this study, it was found that there was an impaired oxidative/antioxidant status in favor of oxidative stress in BC patients. This observation was not confirmed by Adj-IMA calculation. There is no published report about serum concentrations of IMA in patients with BC. Further studies are needed to establish the relationship of IMA and oxidative stress parameters in BC and the significance of IMA to other cancers.
